Who is John Cow?
Posted on August 27th, 2007 by John Cow under RamblingsWe’ve just redone the About page and figured we’d use it in a post as most of you probably never even check that page!
JohnCow dot Com went live on the 1st of July 2007. The domain had been registered 3 months prior to that by someone who wasn’t doing anything with it. We emailed the previous owner at the end of June 2007 to see if we could buy the domain because we figured we could have some fun with it and boy were we right! We love every post that’s written, every comment that been left behind by our fabulous readers and every minute we spent on the blog! Initially the price tag for just the domain was set to $800 and it took us about 20 emails to finally lower that number to $80 at which we were still not sure if we wanted to spent so much money on just a domain. After our first month online it was obvious we made the right decision in paying the $80 for John Cow dot Com. We ended up with over $1000 in earnings in that month!

We’re taking things as they come and day by day. There’s little to no planning involved in the blog since we’re what you call impulsive bloggers. We don’t claim to be experts in SEO, PPC, eCPM and more of those fancy acronyms but we’re learning how to make money online and we do consider ourselves to have a healthy amount of common sense. Maybe you’d disagree with that statement after we tell you that we’ve declined serious offers from people to buy our little blog for $10,000! That would buy the new 17″ macbook Pro we crave and it would help us to say bye-bye to the credit-card bills. But what the heck, we’re having fun and we’ll just have to cope with the real John Chow bugging us on IM all the time! We’re passionate about all that is JohnCow dot Com and we hope we can keep things going for as long as possible. Thanks for reading us and we hope you’ll stick around because we love to serve you your daily fresh milk!
What will the future bring for us? Your guess is as good as ours. There’s one little secret we think we can let you in on though, a new custom John Cow dot Com theme is in the making as we write this and we’re pretty excited about the project! Can’t just stay behind of the big boys now can we?

$1000 in your first month for so called amateurs isn’t bad at all. In a world where everybody seems obsessed with Blog Masturbation you guys make a nice change.

What are you talking about, I like living in multiple locations ^_~ Many wealthy people have vacation homes, I just happen to share this one with a cow

$1000 for the very first month of monetization AND the very first month upon launch is definitely nice.

LMAO! I agree that those kind of earnings make me a bit green ;D

New theme! Cool, can’t wait to see it.

I love it when there are pictures of cows and because the world doesn’t care, the pictures always have cows with udders. So, actually there are two pictures of women.
August 27th, 2007 at 1:14 pm
I can’t either. I’d rather it wasn’t like the big Chow because I’m not fond of his right now.

I’d like to see an upside-down theme where everything is the wrong way up. Can you imagine how great that would be? Nobody has ever done it before. It would be completely crackers.

HOLY COW! That is some fancy negotiating skills….from $800 to $80.
The comment by browie cracked me up

Seriously! And their probably kicking themselves now too.
August 27th, 2007 at 8:23 pm
Not necessarily. If they’ve had it for 3 months and didn’t do anything with it, chances are they never would have.
August 27th, 2007 at 8:24 pm
Probably

[...] John Cow dot Com is a John Chow dot Com parody site. I’ve got one of these planned myself for when I have a bit more time to play with it (or perhaps I’ll just sell it to the highest bidder in true John Chow evil blogger style, but donate the money to charity). [...]

So who is John Cow ? A man, a women or just a group who is using this singular name ? Why are you hiding yourself ?
August 28th, 2007 at 10:25 am
He isn’t hiding himself. His name is Bob. If you follow the blog since the beginning, or even within recent weeks, you would know that.
August 28th, 2007 at 11:55 pm
Yes, and BOB closed his previous blog since this one is great. I think….
