When The Cows Come Home
| Share |
Not much posting from us these last few days kids. We’ve been extremely busy catching up with all three seasons of Lost. Watching over 3000 minutes of footage from people running around on an island sure is tiresome! The first season was great but soon it all became a bit stale. Looked like the writers were running out of ideas to write about. Once you get the public going oooh and aaah with some dramatic special effects of airplanes breaking in half in mid air, its hard to keep coming up with new material it seems.
Then again, perhaps its just us viewers who are spoiled because there’s not a whole lot we haven’t already seen on our TVs.
Imagine the blogosphere being an island. Every blogger out there is running around, trying to figure out the best possible way to get his or her audience not only coming back, but also expanding. Numerous possibilities to boom your online presence with the social bookmark sites and link baiting. The one thing we found that works the best however? It’s quite simple, keep the quality of your posts up. There’s nothing wrong with experimenting and exploring all the options, but know when you’ve taken a wrong turn and don’t be afraid to take a step back onto the path you were following. There’s no point in guessing the future if you can’t remember where you came from. You will get lost.
The only thing that will help you grow your public is to keep doing what you’re doing. They’re not coming over to read read other people’s guest posts. They want to read what the blogowner has to say. It’s their show. We’ve learned this with last week’s guest blogger experiment. We feel we have received some great posts from the people that signed up and we hope it has helped them to increase their online presence. Don’t worry precious readers, we’ve only got about 7 more episodes of Lost to go and after that it’s back to full time blogging!

Along with that is knowing when to quit. I can’t name any blogs that “died” although a lot of TV shows died long before they were canceled.
Wierd!
We just finished watching ALL 3 seasons of LOST back-to-back the last few days! (phew!).
I just finished watching the last episode, and what happens when I log into check on the mad-cows?
YOU’VE been “lost” in LOST too!
That’s creepy, just like that bloody island…maybe the secret is out?…
Lost is freaking awesome. I love it. Can’t wait for season 4, but have no idea what the heck is gonna happen.
I had fun writing the article, and really appreciated the opportunity.
My roommate gave me the first few episodes of the first season to watch because he was addicted to that show. Frankly, I was unimpressed since episode one. It was cheesy and corny and a lot of things that occurred during the show was questionable. I guess it just isn’t my type of show. I like Kyle XY better ^_^
Off topic and I apologize for the double post but can the Cow community help me digg this post. Thanks

I want to clarify and apologize if anyone thought this was comment spam for any reason. I posted the same request over at John Chow’s site and Kumiko jumped the gun on me. So I wanted to let everyone know that it was never intended to be comment spam.
I’m cool with you guys letting me post more and more to get folks at my blog
LoL
Lost stinks btw
Yeah I just don’t see how its good but that’s just personal opinion.
I haven’t seen the show so I cant hate on it!
Cow also now watch movie ah good then!enjoy the movie
Lost isn’t a movie, its a TV show
Something weird is going on. I just got hundreds of links from this blog to my blog. Did somebody break the blog?
I didn’t get hundreds of links, I got maybe 10 =(
I should check again.
Actually I was exaggerating for dramatic effect — I only got 10 too.
@Mr. Cow – That exactly was what I wanted.
@Angel – I too experienced the same. My technorati ranking suddently increased from 300K to 200K and a 10 point increase in my authority too.
I tried comment on your blog Joyce but apparently it never finishes loading, takes up massive resources, and lags. I don’t know whats wrong with it, and whether or not its just me. I mean I can see your entire blog just fine, it just doesn’t think its fully loaded or something.
Thanks a lot Steven for pointing it out. It looks like a problem with Brian’s threaded comment plugin. I’ll fix it ASAP. Thanks once again
Thats a pretty good increase in Technorati. Any reason why the linkage showed up?
yeah it was good writing. so many guest posts though, i think 1 or 2 a week from people who know what they are talking about
Stupid blog! Why wont it log my username for mybloglog?
Why do you blame this blog for that? None of us are having any problem. It should be some problem with your browser cookie.
The world has flipped upside down. Can anyone help?
It’s the smoke monster at work!
Notice how all the TLA sites have disappeared? Are we in the Twilight Zone?
according to mybloglog, i get mad traffic from google. i doubt my blog would ever be in the top 100 000 ranked on alexa. then maybe i’d put kontera whatever that is
I think the problem with Lost was that they had about 2-3 seasons of story and were told by the network execs to stretch things out when the show became a hit. Thus we got a lot of dull filler episodes intermixed with occasional exciting ones. Now that they’ve gotten the network to agree to a finite end of the series they should be able to stay focused.
I agree with the thought that blogs can sometimes end up like that, a lot of filler material along with some really great articles. The pressure is on with a blog to keep producing new ‘episodes’ daily. But, we can always do ‘clip shows’ (link posts) and ’spin-offs’ (guest writers). Hopefully, few bloggers will attempt ‘very special episodes’ though.
I just don’t see where they can go with Lost now.
don’t watch too much tv now, cow. It’s time for you to Moo again as John Chow got new theme tomorrow
I’m not very excited about John Chow’s new theme. Am I the only one?
Very nice post enjoyed it
It may or may not be comment spam. But it is centainly hijacking.
Anyways, I have dugg it.
Thanks. LOL, didn’t mean to be hijacking either
Yeah, what’s going on? Did the advertisers retract, is TLA messing up too? Kontera has been buggy as of late, I wonder whats going on with everything.
TLA altered their xml format ever so slightly so if you’re using a custom script to show the ads you might have experienced a few problems. I had to redo all my .net based sites.
I should have checked it earlier
Anyways, now it is fixed.
Awesome, will check again.
