We Want Cakes

Every review we’ve done recently reminds us of food. Last time around, Neil Patel got images of sprouts into our heads, and now we just can’t stop thinking about chocolate brownies. The reason? This dude called Browie – an avid reader of JohnCow.com – whose blog we’re going to look at today.
Unfortunately, Browie.info has nothing to do with brownies or any type of food, but in the name of investigative blogging, we’re going to give it a chance anyway.

Browie may or may not be his real name, but he is a real person, and he “blogs about any topic on his mind”. Things on Browie’s mind include blogs, entertainment, money, webmaster-related things, golf and – first and foremost – baseball. You could say he’s an all-rounder.
Although he doesn’t say where he’s from, on his “About Me” page Browie writes, “I just wanted to start up my own blog and see what this craze is all about.”
He continues, “I started a small forum in the spring of ‘06. I was new to websites and my forums did not take off. Over the summer I learned more and more about website management.”
Congratulations are in order at this stage because on June 7 Browie had a daughter. Isabelle Nesiah Johnson looks to be even more net-savvy than her dad – she even has her own blog! Good to see them starting early these days.
Browie blogs on a simple, three-column layout. The predominant color is black, which
makes the template appear a bit gloomy. The large, black space to the right of Browie’s logo is a bit of an eyesore too, but we forgave him for this as soon as we saw how cute Isabelle looks.
Recent, non-sports-related posts that readers here might find of interest include:
- PPC Help, in which Browie writes about his first dealings with PPC marketing.
- Digg Hates User, where Browie joins the world of bloggers suspended from Digg.
- Top 10 Ideas for John Cow, which is a thoughtful list of 10 possible websites that John could target for his next venture.
A lot of Browie’s posts are entries into blog contests or else updates on new products like Blog Rush, so there isn’t much to be learned here. The main reason for reading Browie is that he seems like a cool kind of guy who just blogs about what he feels like.
Blogging since January, Browie monetizes his blog primarily, if not solely, with Adsense. But wait, Browie.info is only the beginning of Browie’s world, for he also runs Browie.com, which is a free-sports-betting website. We couldn’t find anywhere to place a free sports bet, but there is a forum where people can get together and talk about sports.
There is also an NLF Pick ‘em forum where users can play a game and win T-shirts and money. We’re not familiar with the NFL, but this game is easy enough to play because all you have to do is pick which teams you think will win each week.
Browie is a self-confessed web entrepreneur. He gets his kicks out of making websites, but his blog is really just a collection of thoughts on anything that happens to be going through his head. We’re all for random blogging and we make a point to check Browie out every now and then to see if he’s started blogging about chocolate brownies. No luck yet.
If Browie’s blog sounds like your cup of tea, you could always subscribe to his RSS feed, especially if you’re a fan of baseball.

I had a quick look and the mixture of topics put me off. I have plenty of blogs in my reader that are about money making and they stick to their topic so I dont have time to read one with such a mixed set of topics. Oh well, be interesting to see how he does. I think most bloggers start out this way, I know I did but I’ve focused now.
I want cake too….
cute baby!
Nice blog from browie. A good PPC marketer..
[...] great day to be a lucky blogger. I had the opportunity to be given a review of my personal blog on John Cow dot com. If you remember from previous posts I’m and avid reader because it was a funny spin [...]
good stuff.
I guess most of today bloggers start out this way, different types of topics. But hey, as long as your posts are in good quality, it’s ok.
Is this a paid review? You don’t mention it anywhere!
Darn you, Cow. I’m hungry now. :/
InvestorBlogger: Mr Browie won a free review.

I am very grateful that I got a nice review from Mr. Cow. I hope my contest takes off with “the cow effect”.
Just for you cows – I live in Nebraska
I know my theme is a little weak. That black bar is boring, I’m not much of a design guy and don’t have the cash yet for an exclusive Cow Theme.
Ya, I talk about random junk but that’s what I like to talk about, baseball is over so that will subside and idk we’ll see what I discuss from here on out. I don’t pretend to be an expert in anything.
Thanks again Cow

Some brownies do sound good
Maybe its color-scheme is for the halloween
how many hits did you get from this Browie? I might be willing to pay to get milked.
Now that is a cute kid!
Allyn – Let’s wait a few more days. As long as this review is on the first page I think it’ll get some more hits.
Browie–sounds good. I truly and interested because i am looking at paying for a review. It ain’t all that expensive really. I’ll make my wife work some overtime to pay for it! LOL
lemme know
I have nothing to do today. So, I decide to write something here :p
Ok, Allyn
2 full days Nov. 1st and 2nd – 72 visitors from johncow.com
But, behind the scenes a lot more because i was smart, I started my contest that day also so I was able to bring in more traffic with 2nd tier referrals.
wow…its a good evil idea to create a twin blog…
What’s most important is that if you have a blog you are confident people reading this site will be able to relate to, you will get subscribers. Browie’s blog focuses on more general topics, as the review reflects, but if you can offer something that readers here will want to read, there’s no reason why you can’t generate hundreds of hits and dozens of RSS readers.
Was over at Browie’s personal blog, a little disappointed though that I can’t take part in his contest for the iPod nano as I reside outside of the US.
Browie-thanks for the followup…much appreciated. –AL
Jerrykhoo – I made an exception, I’ll give $100 paypal in place of.
Oh no, 1 more day on the front page. Buh-Bye johncow affect. One more post and I’ll be gone.
Cool…
