I haven't started twittering yet but I signed up for an account this morning. I'm not sure what to expect because it's hard to wade through the hype.

You are pretty accurate, but actually a bit low on the traffic estimates from Jason’s push. I’m actually suprised that the server hosting my website didn’t crash, but it held up well. This is an interesting idea. I think that RSS is a better gauge of your success, because you can basically impose your will on other Twitter users and it is endlessly easier to pick up followers than it is RSS subscribers. But on the other hand, Twitter is a lot more practical than RSS and people do get a better sense about who you are, as you mentioned.
