Traffic, Subscribers and Backlinks From Guest Posting

This is a Guest Post by Shannon Lilly blogger over at CowBlogger.com. Check out his blog and subscribe to his mooalicious blog right now!
If you have any doubts about guest posting on another blog then today is your lucky day! I have guest posted on all the top blogs including JohnChow and A MarketingPilgrim among many smaller ones. I am a Guest Post Pro you could say, I have some useful tips for you to check out in regards to guest posting. Lets begin this mooalicious guest post!
The first point I want to make is how important it is to present the guest post in a quality manner. Anything other then a professional post simply will not do in the blogosphere today, if you want to be taken seriously you need to present it professionally. Remember when guest posting your main goal is to convince these people on another blog to give you a shot and click over to your blog and or subscribe to your RSS.
If you don’t present the post professionally you might as well forget the whole thing…
Secondly use the guest post to your advantage, link to your own blog in it but no more then 2 times or the post will most likely be rejected because bloggers don’t usually like to link-out to other blogs because they are competitors. Additionally don’t be afraid to take one of those 2 links and ask the readers to subscribe to your RSS Feed directly from the guest-post. I have found this to work excellent and if you can get away with it (DO IT!).
If the post goes live on a popular blog you have the possibility of the RSS Feed being picked up by RSS Sites / Bots and of course gaining subscribers from the blog your posting on, especially if they use any FireFox RSS plugins!
The point is “Use the guest post to your advantage”.
Its sort of ironic that I would be making a guest post about guest posting is it not?
Thirdly bring something new to the table, take this guest post for example sure Guest Posting has been talked about for ages but what I did was bring a friendly twist to the subject and get you thinking about the guest posting you do.
I don’t know that I can say such a twist has ever been put on a guest post before, have you?
Guest posting really is all about being different, I can’t tell you how many great and negative comments I have had on my guest posts because of either bringing something new to the table or nothing new at all.
However don’t let that deter you, even if the post is not something 100% new or unique… If its published then its still a great way to get new bloggers to listen to your blogging voice!
They could very well have never heard about what your telling them. Don’t assume everyone knows something because the majority believes they do, there are people who don’t know anything and you could be the only source they find!
Plus a Guest Post can look great on a writers resume!
So how about it, do you believe guest posting is important? Would you attempt guest posting on smaller blogs or would you stick with the big ones only?
Moo below and let us know!

dispells the myth internet marketing is just another fools gold rush. [Entrepreneur's Journey] Shannon Lilly discusses using guest posts as a method of driving traffic, subscribers and backlinks to your own website. [John Cow] Zac Johnson shows you how to make money with survey and poll websites. [Zac Johnson]
You hit it right. I mean most bloggers do a guest post w/o any link back to their blog other than the “this post is guest blogged by name(link)” … It never gives anything and you won’t be credited that much for it..

Yeah, but so many bloggers do not like you to link back to your own blog in your guest post. I know a lot of guest posts that I have submitted usually get rejected because of that reason. I think that if a blogger really wants someone to guest post they would not care. However, if a blogger is pressing the issue to get a guest post on another blog then they better make sure not to link back to their own blog unless the blogger says that it’s ok.

I feel that guest posting is a good way of attracting more traffic to your blog. It also brings you more varied readers from related sites. I have done in a few different times on blogs related to my niche. It was fun and I still get traffic coming in from those sites.
Well I think this is a quality guest post about guest posting and I will take these tips into account as I am building guest posts to build my blog.
Thanks for all the tips. If you didn’t guest post these on John Cow then I would have never been able to read them. So thankyou
Is this a joke? I mean, seriously?
You’re a “Guest Post Pro”? That does seem pretty obvious when I click the link to go to YOUR site and only find 2 posts there.
How about having some content on YOUR blog that is substantial and that will make me want to even read YOUR blog?
Wow. Can’t really believe that your guest post was published here…
Chris, as much as I agree that the blog in question needs a lot more content, the reason this post was allowed is because it is a good article with some good information.
I think you do have a valid point however and cowblogger, you should focus on getting more content on your blog so any traffic that you get does stick.
Thanks, John Cow.
And you made my point, really. I have no desire to subscribe when there’s no content.
I wasn’t trying to be mean, but realistic.
Yes, guest posting is an AWESOME way to grow a blog, but it’s not going to grow a blog with no content!
Ah, you may still get a few subscribers, but nothing compared to the amount of subscribers that actually find quality content WORTH SUBSCRIBING TO on your own blog.
You can’t deny the power of guest blogging. A lot of bloggers have been experiencing insane growth within a few months even if they are new to the scene.
Nice article.
I admit the CowBlogger blog is small still but it is only 3 days old
I have another MMO blog which has been featured here in a guest post as well which now has over 500 rss daily readers.

Hello,
Could I please point out that Shannon Lilly is the owner of Infected By Bugs (www.infectedbybugs.com) and Cow blogger is his new project. Which I shall be guest posting on. Currently the only posts I do are guest posts because I believe you always try harder if it is for somebody else, so I do not even own a blog anymore.
This is a very good post and I agree with all the points.
Shane Hudson
Do you write the post first and send it to the owner at the same time you’re asking to guest post? Or do you ask for permission before you write the post? I suppose the post won’t go to waste anyways even if you write it first since you can always post it on your own blog.
I have done both, I find it best to have one ready so they don’t have to wait.
CowBloggers last blog post..Comment To Bring In The Herd!
Do you only try to post to blogs that specifically indicate they are accepting guest postings? I was curious if anyone has tried to offer first by email an article, if the site didn’t specifically ask you to post?
Yeah thats nice and all but a lot of “guest bloggers” blog about “guest blogging”. This topic has been covered x100 times.
Guess blog for more traffic and links. I can sum up your post in a sentence.

Yup. Its really good and i like this idea. But until today, i still not found anyone suitable for guest blogger in my blog. Not all people can do like what i want..
Do you focus on a niche and write on it or find the trend and go with that ?

Hey guys, To answer the questions above…
If a blog is not accepting guest posts send it to them anyway, they will actually be more inclined to accept then when they are not bombarded with posts.

Hi Folks!
Windows vista is also causing lots of boot issues, so I often get questions like this:
I have a Dell Dimension, which won’t boot to Windows (Vista), and none the repair variants work:
Startup repair: Reports fix fail due to problem with registry
System Restore: Reports no restore points available
Windows Complete PC Restore: Reports no backups available
Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool: No memory problems
Command Prompt.
Can’t think of any appropriate command to use here.
So I booted with the system DVD (as one would with XP) but the upgrade
option has been greyed don’t want to do a new install. I want to fix existing
installation.
What should I do?
————————————————————
So here is the answer:
You can’t do a ‘repair install’ because you need to launch the Vista DVD
from within Windows, not, as you have been doing, booting straight from the
DVD; that is why the ‘upgrade’ is greyed out.
If you cannot launch Vista and none of the repair options will work a new
install is the only other option.
To save problems in future it is actually a good idea to make image of the hard drive, using program like True Image. What I do is install operating system, download all updates, check system I working okay for a day or two, activate system, then create image of the whole drive/partition. Any time I get a problem I can re-image the drive/partition quickly and be up and running without much inconvenience. And minor fixes are done by using any registry fix tool, there are plenty of them on the market today.
Regards,
Carl
CowBlogger, I’ve tried to send you an email and leave comments on your recent blog posts. The email that is given via your Feedburner email comes back as invalid and the spam protection math filter you installed on your blog seems to be missing the math question for people to answer. Thus no comments can be left. I hope you get this.
