Testing out BuySellAds – Will It Replace OIO Publisher For Me?

As you can see (well maybe not by the time you read this) there are a few ad spots open here on JohnCow.com and for over a year now I have used the OIOPublisher plugin, which for the most part has worked out well.

Today however, I decided to try something new… and I am keeping this short.

Instead of using a system I need to manage, I an going to test out the system http://buysellads.com/buy/detail/5999

So… if you are interested in advertising here on JohnCow.com, test the system out for me and buy a spot… I will throw in a couple extra twitter messages to sweeten the pot as well :)

As promised i made a twitter post and see I sent you about 100 visitors just from that in a couple minutes ;) Here is the clicks (Twitter is so awesome).. PS I used http://www.bit.ly for stats tracking

I’ve been with BuySellAds since the beginning of the year and I’ve been happy with them. I did a crummy job managing my own ads and wanted to try an ad service. BuySellAds seemed a little more reasonable than its competitors by taking 25% of the ad revenue. It seemed when I was looking most services were charging 50%.

  2. Hey Jason, with buysellads.com these guys keep 25% of the money you made from your ad spots.

Not that I’m a “guru” but what I suggest is that you keep your site listed over there to gain advertiser exposure and when there’s an advertiser interested then just make him purchase ads with oio as you’d do.

How are your ads and afiliates performing lately though. Good?

    Cheers, have a good one!

Do you know if there is a plugin or API code source for what BuySellAds use to get the Alexa/Compete/Delicious/Y Links/Twitter count for each of the sites?

And thanks for connecting on Facebook! :)

Sorry, i am not sure of how they do that

  6. @john, thanks for giving us a shot! We’ll get soem ads sold for you soon…

@kikolani, we’re using a combination of open source scripts that are available for free online and some custom stuff we did to bunch it all together.

@bryansd, thanks for the kind words, glad to hear you are happy! indeed, most networks take WAY too much… 50% is a bit ridiculous.

I have heard of Buy Sell Ads. It looks hot now. Many are getting Advertisers easily. I want to try it too but I just got my OIO Publisher.

I do not think it can replace OIO. Buy Sell Ads will remain hot for some months but when people realize they can keep 100% of money through plugins like OIO they would jump to OIO. You see there was Project Wonderful, now it works but is not hot as it was when it started.

I vote for OIO. Boy get Ads on My Blog. I use OIO. Check how easy it is to order with OIO.

I’ve never used either of these services, relying mainly on Google for my ad blocks. I’d like to keep updated on how you feel as time goes on – so I’m subscribing to the comments.

    Cheers!
