Since tomorrow is the start of week 2 of the COWpetition, we thought it would be a great time to do a review. So what we thought we would like to try is to use the Skribit widget again and let you tell us. So, in the side bar…

…please tell us what questions you have or clarifications you need from the COWpetition posts over this past week and we will do our best to answer them all in tomorrows post. We are not making any guarantees that we will answer every one, but we will try our best.
To help spark your memory, here are the past weeks COWpetition posts…
- Day 1 - Build a Business Not A Blog
- Day 2 - The Big Picture
- Day 3 - Narrowing Your Focus
- Day 4 - Dividing Up the Work
- Day 5 - Diamonds in the Rough
If you do NOT have any questions or clarification and just want to provide some feedback of those posts, then please comment below
On Monday we will be also announcing the time and date of the first ever COWCast, remember that this is for those who are subscribed via email only, we are not posting the call information on the blog. So if you want to get in on the call or receive a copy of the recording, you need to subscribe to our list via email.
Last of all we want to let you know that we are putting some details together for a fun little contest in regards to the “Who is John Cow?”. We are constantly getting hammered with requests for this and we had planned since the beginning to make this something fun but this past two weeks got all messed up with the COWpetition. We will be updating you all this week and the ONLY thing about it that we will tell you is we are NOT Garry Conn and before two weeks ago had never even heard of him… and we promise that we are NOT lying to anyone about that (we do NOT lie).

Hi.
I’d like you to answer a question here, if it isn’t too much trouble?
I had a comment deleted/not approved a couple of weeks ago.
This post theorised that the current owner of this blog is not the original John Cow. That the original John Cow must have made the sale, with the winning bidder taking over his personality.
I personally have nothing against this, and while it’ irritating that we won’t see the old Cow again, it seems the blog isn’t completely failing.
I just wanted clarification. Is that possible, Cow?
*saves comment in case it’s deleted*
Considering that we get one heck of a lot of comments we can only assume it got akismet tagged or we felt it was spam. The biggest reason we delete comments are…
1. no valid email.. use something like gmail@gmail.com
2. blatant ad
3. Inappropriate URL (mainly porn)
4. we hit the wrong button
If your comment was not the first three then we can only think it was the 4th or akismet got it.
One thing to note… your comment “*saves comment in case it’s deleted*” means absolutely nothing… if your comment is not something we deem worth while then we will not approve it.
i don’t know who the heaven John Cow is, as long he / she ( ) gives us good posts then it doesn’t matter for me. i will let his feed stays on my google reader.
and about “…the blog isn’t completely failing.”, i have been following this blog progress since the first posts. until some months ago, when bob seem has no time anymore to update it, to make new posts or something, i was thinking that that was the time for someone taking over the blog.
and here we are now. all seems good so far.

Nope. Definitely not the original Cow. Thanks for clarifying.
But as I said, before you went off on a little hissy fit thinking I held something against you - the blog isn’t completely failing. Take a compliment when you’re given one. This wasn’t an easy blog to take over and as trafficHype later says, it was pretty seamless.
I only realised after the writing style changed a little (more “…”s and more non-standard grammar), so I reckon if you actually spread it around that you are John Cow, II, that could be an even better gimmick.
Taking over John Cow, however you do it, is gonna leave some bits rough around the edges and you seem to be coping great.
Another reason I suspect that it is no longer the original Cow is the icons in his comment name thing.
The original Cow was proud of being a Mac fanboy, so what’s this new Cow doing on a Windows machine all the time? The original Cow would have at least have made a post about getting a new machine/the old one breaking. Unless there IS no new machine and just a new owner ;-)
We do have a question though… why does it matter. If the content is great then does it matter. All things will be revealed but the fact is this is John Cow… he is the character of this blog. Just wondering why to some it is so important to know?
It matters because I followed this blog from it’s inception. Most blog owners rightfully see their readers as an important part of their continued success and were open to clarifying misunderstandings and answering questions.
As was this blog back a few months ago. Yes, Cow had a harsh side I came up against once or twice, but in general, the site was helpful to its readers, me included.
The content that is here is great, sure, but I like behind-the-scenes info and I’m sure other people do, too. That’s been missing for over a month now. I’m sure if you had actually made a short series of 3 or so posts documenting your transition from reader to researcher to bidder to owner to admin, the readership would have rose even more.
But hey, I’m not telling you how to run your blog. Yes, Cow is a character and, yes, the content is great. But all I originally had was a single question, which seemed to take forever to get answered, followed by my confusion at not getting answered and slow realisation as to why, which I then posted in case other people were wondering the same thing. That’s all. No harm intended.
But to be completely honest, I’m missing the backstage stuff about the owner of the blog themselves (not just on this but on others blogs, too, lately), so please don’t take personal offense if I don’t drop by too often again if the topics continue to stay the same.
It honestly isn’t you personally - old Cow or new Cow, it’s all the same meat to me.
I know…you are Jonathan Volk….(I figured it out from your born again hint)…actually no..scratch that…I believe you are from Canada and Jonathan is from the US…hmmm…Ok I don’t know

It doesn’t matter who owns John Cow now ….. only important thing to remember is the cow’s pedigree number ….. she’s from an Irish herd!
You can’t beat an Irish cow ….. Seán Mac an Bhó …. the Irish version.

I love visiting this forum–it is so great to be able to hang with geeks like me. No, I don’t care who Cow really is….too much good stuff here to care.
Not able to make the cowcast, as I’m walking out the door, but am looking forward to the replay. Thanks!
Together, we are stronger.

Hey Cow…you had a great couple of posts earlier in the competition about uncovering great keywords. Maybe I missed it…but I don’t recall seeing much about what you specifically end up doing with those keywords.

Are you saying that the later posts are not great?
You are right Jeff, and thanks for the reminder. I still have a keyword lesson to finish up. We will get this done in the next couple of posts.
I have a little request. Do you think you could create a page that links to all the cowpetition posts? You stopped using Day # after a while and its getting harder to find the posts.
I just find it easier to read the posts then the ebook. :)
