Back a few years ago, there was an ebook released from Michael Campbell called Revenge of The Mini Net. You can actually get this for free at http://www.revengeofthemininet.com/rev/. The ebook is outdated from the perspective of it recommending using your own sites but after you read this post you will see how to take what he writes and use it effectively in 2008.

Essentially what a mini net does, is it creates almost a funnel system. You create a bunch of different pages and websites that all link together and the linking has a purpose (not just random links together) and that purpose is to focus in on one or two pages in particular. By doing this you…

1. Increased the link popularity to the important pages and boasted their search engine rankings

2. Helped direct your readers to the pages that make you money.

The system was incredibly powerful when it first came out BUT Google made changes.

One of the faults of this strategy was it taught creating your own network of sites and pages that you owned and by interlinking with a purpose, you essentially “faked” your pages link popularity and that is what gave it the search engine boost.

Well Google put a stop to that and started to implement filters and also started punishing people for doing this. They started looking at the IP addresses of sites to ensure all the links (or the majority) where not from the same IP, they started looking at the domain owner info and more.

Can we blame Google?

Of course not… they are a business that want to give quality to their customers and that means giving the best search results possilble.

Once Google did this, people started inventing ways to get around this. One well known marketer started preaching creating multiple businesses and registering domains under different businesses and…. well for the average joe, this was not a viable strategy.

It seemed as though there really was not an easy and low cost strategy to be able to implement this mini net strategy.

Then came the emergence of Social Networks.

Over the past 2 years, the internet has virtually exploded with new websites that are built with one purpose… for you to add content to them. The cool thing is a huge amount of these sites make the content that you added publicly available so the search engines can spider and index them. The even better part is these sites get HUGE amounts of traffic and as a result have a very large amount of authority in the eyes of the search engines.

And so it Begins!

Almost two years ago, we remember looking at these new social sites thinking to ourselves “how can we really take advantage of these sites?”

They were just exploding everywhere and there had to be a way to utilize them to our advantage.

So we started playing around and decided to do an experiment and the first thing we did was we picked a clickbank product we wanted to promote.

Next we created a presales page on our blog and then a bunch of pre sales articles that we would use on these sites.

We then made a list of 50 popular social sites that we were going to play with and test. What we looked for was that the site had a good alexa ranking, had lots of publicly available pages created by users in Googles index and allowed you to put links in your content or at least add links to the page.

Then (once again using our infamous dry erase board), we mapped out how we were going to use these sites… and it was drawing this out that it suddenly came to us.

THE MINI NET

At first i had everything just linking to the page we wanted to get higher rankings with but then it came to us:

Why are we only wanting to have one result in Google when we can dominate them ALL!!!

These sites had pages getting indexed and why not boost some of these with linking to them along with linking to our page. Our initial drawing was something like this:

Now that might seem confusing but it really is not. The circle in the center is our page we want to get rankings and traffic for. Then the first outer layer of sites where the social sites that we wanted to help get good rankings for our primary term, then the outer circles are the social sites that we used to link to both our page and the socal pages we wanted to boost. (any lights coming on ?)

Now remember, this was our first try at this. What we wanted to do with this experiment was…

1. Find out which sites rank well in Google?

2. Which sites sent the most traffic?

3. Did Google like it?

So we implemented our initial strategy and all we can say is we have not looked back since.

Cow Show Us A Real Network Example!

No!

Sorry guys but we have been in this game long enough to know two things…

1. People are lazy

2. People are lazy

If we laid out an example, a bunch of people would simply implement those exact same sites and not even try thinking for themselves.

This is not rocket science and what you want to do is…

1. List sites you want to use

2. List the sites that you will link to in order to help whem to also rank better in google

3. Map out your plan

4. Join the communites and see how others are using them, become part of the communities and add your content.

5. Track the results… seeing which sites rank well, which ones do not, which ones send traffic and which ones don’t. Modify your mapped out plan and repeat.

By following this we PROMISE you will start to dominate the search engines like you will not believe.

Question –> Are you already using this type of strategy or is this a new way of thinkng for you
