Jetlagged as we are, it seems we completely forgot to do a post yesterday! Here’s a quick fix for all you dairy junkies out there
Just a few bits and bobs we came across that we though were worth mentioning.

We went into the fashion business this week and launched a designer baby line. Miss Sally Chow is our first model and boy is she cute! Here’s a picture of her in one of our creations in case you might have missed it on her agent’s blog.

If anyone wants to get their hands on some exclusive Cow fashion items, we’ve opened a cafepress shop full of cow goodies! It’s still very basic but we’ll be adding more products and designs, feel free to let us know if you want something special and we’ll see if we can accommodate!

Tyler Cruz dot Com seems to have found the same logo/mascot designer as we used for our header, Sosfactory dot Com, but it looks like he’s trying to pull a cheap trick to con his readers!

He’s claiming that that mascot of his was “just” $500 and that anyone that wants a “cheap” mascot like that too, needs to contact him. What a load of cow-crap! Those logo’s run for a couple of hundred dollars less! Not only does it look like he is trying to con his readers by making them pay more and pocket the difference, he’s also is not supporting the awesome Sosfactory guys that did his logo design this way. Not cool Tyler.

MillionEuroWiki has sold it’s second batch of 25 pages so we’ll be picking another winner of the 16GB iPod touch later today! Keep your fingers crossed boys and girls, it might just be you who walks away with it! (That is, if you have actually bought a page! You can still get in before the draw and use coupon code JohnCow to get $10 off  )

Oh, and guess who landed in the Technorati top 3,000? Here’s a clue:

MooForum dot Com already has 30 registered members and it seems we’re gonna have to fork out some moo-lah to get a custom theme after all! Hey cow, that was a pretty evil concept with the birthday gifts. Props for thinking that one up. I’ll help you mod the mooforums if you need it. Any plans to change over from phpBB to something like VB before you do any customizing? I think it would serve you better in the long run.

I’m awaiting Tyler’s response with interest. Let’s see what he has to say before he’s hung, drawn and quartered.

  11. Nice Sunday ramblings, but mine are better.

  12. krillz says:

that thing by Tyler was really low and not cool!
Good thing you busted his lie wide open.

  13. Israel says:

if mr. cruz has really done that then thats effed up.

  14. Lie or not $10 or above is too much for a logo design :D

Hit me with a mod status (account: Abdalla)

  15. Btw, does he not mean the whole theme and logo design came to a total of $500? If he means logo alone then he has officially gone “bonkers”

  16. Joyce Babu says:

Congrats for making it into the 3K list. I am struggling to get into 200K :(

BtW, I would love to moderate the forum. I have over 1K posts in DP under the username Aragorn.

  17. Colleen says:

The rest of the internet has already discovered Tyler Cruz is a sleazy guy. Just search for his name on Google and you’ll find out why.

  18. Andy Spark says:

Actually, SOSfactory says the price is “around 250-350 US$” – not “exactly 250-350 US$”.

Tyler shows his design went through many revisions and SOSfactory apparently charges $30 for every change to a revision that has already been okayed by the client – Tyler says he had his poker hand changed to aces, so that makes it another $30. He also said he had the condo taken out – it sounds as if that was at the last minute – = another $30.

If he went through this quite a lot to make it perfect, you can easily see that four or five “I’ve had a second thought”-changes to previous revisions can add up to $500ish.

Tyler may have honestly thought that most people would go through the same as him and would also have the price rocket up.

How could Tyler pocket the difference himself? – the second that the person he directs to SOSfactory asks for a quote from SOSfactory, they’d get told the real price. Duh.

His only mistake was that he didn’t support them, but as he has said before, he is merely protecting himself by not letting his valued designers from becoming overloaded with other people’s work so he isn’t put on a long waiting list himself.

It is good business sense – SOSfactory does not require that you backlink to them and in fact they even offer a non-disclosure clause. You have broken that non-disclosure that Tyler obviously wanted.

Congratulations on ruining a prime selling point of SOSfactory, John Cow – the choice of anonymity.

  19. Angel says:

This is why the Internet sucks sometimes. Wait for him to respond first.

  20. John Cow says:

AndySpark: We did business with SOSfactory and our entire header, not just the logo, which was revised numerous times did not even cost us $500. We never had to pay $30 per revision –where are you getting that $30 from anyway?

And you think he’s not sharing the designers info to make sure his own logo wouldn’t get delayed? It seems to us his logo is done so what are you talking about?

As far as SOSfactory not requiring a backlink; Our original header even came with a link to them and the designer asked if it would be ok, he’d take it out if we wanted to.

Have you ever worked with SOSfactory, or are you just a Tyler fan-boy? This all looks like a scam to us but if we’re wrong, we’ll be the first ones to admit it and apologize.

  21. Word Hugger says:

Congrats, saw that pic on JohnChow.com yesterday.

I can help moderate your forums for free if you still need some people.

  23. Ahhh, I thought you had done some fact finding before posting Mr Cow. It will be extra interesting to see how this one plays out now.

  24. Hyder says:

Also Tyler states that “he” found the designer, when in fact it was me that pointed him towards them. No biggie, you can find cartoonists on Google anyhow.

So I think should collect some referral fees from him myself. I’ll settle for a paypal deposit.

  25. [...] other blog news, John Cow has put a big question mark over Tyler Cruz’s head. Tyler is alleged to be trying to scheme [...]

  26. Vlad says:

No wonder everyone calls tyler the internet loser lol … he eats too much cow shit i guess  .

  27. [...] it stemmed from a recent post on JohnCow.com (Note, Cow.com, not JohnChow.com). Here is what he wrote: “Tyler Cruz dot Com [...]

  28. Stephen says:

He just made a response to this on his blog.

No matter how he justifies it, the bottom line is that he was still trying to pull a fast one on everyone to make a profit.

And had he not tried to do stuff like this before I doubt people would so “wrongfully” accuse him.

  29. krillz says:

yeah I just replied to his “explanation” on how cow did his research all shitty, funny thing is he just confirmed all the accusations and still said it was a attempt to destroy his reputation.

I was laughing my ass of, what a complete moron! Guess what EINSTEIN you did it yourself, what the hell is wrong with you tyler, all the points were valid as I can see it.

The funniest part was the statement about his competitors? What competitors he isn’t even in their league, not even close.

  30. elgUU says:

    GREETINGS FROM elgUU

  31. Dean Walters says:

All Tyler cares about is money, everything he does is motivated by the bloody thing, I’m all for capitalism but to be that sleazy and dirty, he should clean up his act fairly quick, his reputation is becoming quite laughable.

  32. SOSFactory says:

Hello guys this is Sergio Ordoñez from SOSFactory, Im sorry very much hearding all this… but its much easier than it looks like.

First of all let me clarify somethings:

1º.- I charged a fair price to Joncow.com + a review of my blog SOSNewbie.com (Johncow told me its coming soon), the work was supossed to be just a mascot (guy with a car) and logo. Because of personal reasons I had some delay so like compensation I did a whole illustration at that price.

2º.- My usual rates are around 200-400US$ per mascot design. I charge 250-300US$ for standard orders, if anyone want something for yesterday I charge more, if its a big costumer I charge more, if you need 20 designs I charge less, if I dont have too work I charge less, if I really enjoy the order I charge less, if its in vector format I charge more… if you are a blondie with big boobs I charge less (kidding)

3º.- Sadly in this industry your work itself doesnt work a penny, its all about how do you market yourself… Tyler really was supporting me, my agent take a comission for any client he bring me… so why Tyler cant do the same? What is the fair price for this task? Its up to you… its usually around 20%.

4º.- I offer unlimited revisions (within reason) for free. The 30US$/h fee is for customization on any design is already finished and approved, sometimes people want small changes.

5º.- I did designs for lot of bloggers: bloggintips, theprizeblog, johncow, tylercruz… I offer a Non disclosure clausule, obviously if somebody let me show the work in my portfolio its a plus for me.

I hope anybody is hurt here, you dont have reasons to fight… everyone is very pleased with his work, and its the most important.

    Cheers.

  33. krillz says:

Sergio, whatever you charge is fine, it’s your product so you decide.

The whole thing with tyler cruz is another thing, he tried to hustle his readers, that’s the honest truth. That’s what this is all about.
He tried to make it sound as he had some good deal going for his readers when in fact he just wanted to earn money of them, which is not cool.

  34. Hyder says:

Sergio your work is the bomb man! Keep up the good work.

Realize what you are worth and charge it. Of course, don’t go crazy now with prices.

  35. I don’t understand how anyone can critise Tyler here, what has he actually done wrong?
Compared to the Cow selling pointless pages for $100 (sorry, don’t want to open that argument again) but surely this is small fish?

  36. John Cow says:

PropertyIreland: Will you get over it already. The pages are not useless, that’s just your opinion. You seriously need to start asking yourself if you like debating for the sake of debating or for added value.

  37. fatgadget says:

    @ PropertyIreland

If you dont want open the argument again then why mention ?

You obviously have some Beef with Mr Moo, and will use any oppertunity to air it.

What Tyler did was try and trick his readers, so he could profit himself, that is no way to treat your readers.

  38. Cow: I am well over it, nothing really to get over for me…but yes, i do like a debate and it is my opinion that the pages are useless, but this is the wrong thread for this, I only brought it up as a comparison, not to open that debate again.

fatgadget : I have no beef with Mr Moo, I support him fully in leaving his day job and making it online, that is the main reason I bought an ad spot, I don’t expect any profit from that ad spot as what I do is of no relevance to the majority of Cow readers, but I love to see anyone make the move to online income and wanted to support him.
As to what Tyler did, i.e. you say tricking his readers (I don’t see this) but I do see the Cow doing it in a less obvious way, that was my point and my opinion.

  39. John Cow says:

PropertyIreland: Did you just call us liars, saying that we are tricking our readers? In that case, we’ll be more than happy to offer you a full refund on your adspot and will kindly ask you to leave.

  40. fatgadget says:

    @ propertireland

I dont see how Mr Moo is supposed to have tricked his readers ? It was clear from his original post about the MEW that it was him who was running it :)

  41. Cow: if you want to do that, I have no problem with it.
I don’t think I called you a liar, but I am more than happy to accept a refund and you remove my ad if that is how you feel.

  42. fatgadget : are you serious?
    from the initial announcement:

“The one you’re thinking about does dollars, these guys do euros. (duh!). Since the dollar is worth less and less these days, some clever person quickly grabbed this opportunity to start a paid wiki service in euros”

How is that clear that he was running it?
Besides that, that was not my point! I feel he is tricking his readers into thinking that these pages are worth $100, not who is actually running it.

This is going way off topic of the original post now, so maybe the moofourms are a good idea afterall and time to move this arguement there now so the comments here can get back on topic?

  43. Andy Spark says:

John Cow: “AndySpark: We did business with SOSfactory and our entire header, not just the logo, which was revised numerous times did not even cost us $500. We never had to pay $30 per revision –where are you getting that $30 from anyway?”

I read their full terms and conditions – if you were anything the businessman you claim to be, you should have done so also before throwing your money away without realising what was in the contract.

I also never said that you paid $30 per revision – I simply said “SOSfactory apparently charges $30 for every change to a revision that has already been okayed by the client” which Sergio himself backed up with “The 30US$/h fee is for customization on any design is already finished and approved, sometimes people want small changes” – the exact same meaning just in different words.

I am not a Tyler fanboy – I just simply said how Tyler MAY have racked up his charge because his own blog showed countles revisions. Some of which he MAY have already approved before wanting “small changes” made. Never ever said I knew what he was doing – you jumped down his throat before you knew the full story so I gave a devil’s advocate view before all your readers assume you know the full story.

Tyler himself admitted on his blog his reasoning and – whether he was right or wrong – you pre-judged someone without knowing anything of his quote (which MAY have been as high as $500), which in my eyes is just as bad as what he did.

In my view, yes Tyler did wrong. But so did you in leaping down his throat without any evidence or knowledge of his own backstory with SOSfactory.

    Andy Spark

  44. fatgadget says:

    @ propertyIreland.

Yeah I am serious, you left out that next to ‘some clever person quickly grabbed this opportunity to start a paid wiki service in euros” he had the EVIL emoticon which implied it was him that was running it, I guess that was too subtle for you.

  45. fatgadget: I am using Firefox on Linux & Windows and certainly don’t see that EVIL emoticon where you say it is! but even if I did, I would not imply what you are saying.

I do see it next to: “… already bought pages  As a promotion, we’ve got a $10 off coupon you can use when you buy the page of your choice. Just use “JohnCow” at the checkout and the discount will be deducted over at Paypal.”

but still would not imply that the Cow ran the site becouse of that EVIL emoticon and I’m sure many other readers would not imply that also. Anyway, that was not my original point! why harp on about it?

  46. COW: I will gladly take that refund…
Or of anyone wants to buy that ad spot, let me know at admin@propertyireland.net

  47. [...] I just woke up and I did what I normally do. Check my emails, update my websites and read my morning dosage of blog updates. Apparently for today, there’s a drama over two bloggers, namely Tyler Cruz and the Cow. [...]

  48. [...] is not supporting the awesome Sosfactory guys that did his logo design this way. Not cool Tyler. http://www.johncow.com/sunday-ramblings-30-09-07/ [...]

  49. So Tyler IS trying to take a cut!

  50. McBilly says:

Hey Cow! Thanks for checking out my small blog.

Anyway, props to your awesome or better yet, EVIL, marketing! I love your dirty tactics! Keep them coming! Haha

  51. Cash Quests says:

@propertyireland – They’re not worth $100? Well, after just a few days I’ve already received a TLA signup and John Chow has one too. That means that I’ve already covered over 25% of the purchase price as it only cost $90. Obviously at that rate the purchase price will eventually be covered in time and at that point in time I can either keep earning money or sell the page for a profit.

So instead of just saying “it’s not worth $100″ again and again and again, why don’t you tell me exactly why my page that is making me money is pointless and worthless? Tell me why we shouldn’t have made the money that we’re making! Tell me why that deposit in my paypal account should never have happened!

  52. Angel says:

Cash Quests, the test is whether other people, not just you and Chow, make money.

But anyway, the issue with Tyler: He’s offering access to something for a higher price than you could get it for directly. This is nothing new, and actually it’s exactly what goes on with Deal Dot Com. While what he did is in no way geared toward giving his loyal readership the most benefit possible, I don’t think he did anything terribly wrong.

However, if I were a loyal reader of his blog, I would be pissed off that he didn’t have my best interests at heart.

  53. wow, a bit heated in here, trust the cow to stir things up a bit.

  54. Israel says:

    heated is saying it lightly.

  55. Cash Quests says:

@Angel – I don’t believe the true test is whether others make money or not. Some make a lot of money with Adsense while others don’t. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t a money maker. What you do with it is just as important as having it. Whatever happens with MEW, there will be at least one person who comes out and says “Hey I didn’t make any money”. That means the person is a failure – not the system. If you’re educated in how to make money online…you’ll make money with the Million Euro Wiki.

Re Tyler Issue – He’s really messed up with this one and I congratulate the cow on pointing it out. Taking a commission is one thing, but actively pushing up the price before offering to your readers is just wrong. It doesn’t matter what his intentions or motivations were, he created a situation where his readers were getting ripped off. That’s evil.

  56. Michael says:

Very clever how you wrote, ‘if you missed it on her agent’s blog’! Great thinking and creativity!

  57. fryman says:

LMAO, that Tyler loser has posted in his blog that he was trying to make a few bucks by inflating the posted price of the logo.

That kid is so pathetic… maybe he shgould go back to playing poker and writing about how respected and feared he is at the casino
    hahaha

  58. Bolehan says:

I’ve visited your cafepress store. I like the dog-t-shirt!!!

  59. Neil Duckett says:

It’s so eerily familar coming to this site!

  60. John Kool says:

Oh great, another make money online splog. That’s what we really need!

  61. Hyder says:

Man, I should have never offered Tyler my design services. It was me that pointed him towards SOS factory, after he said he had his theme being done by someone else already.

That’s not saying he wouldn’t have done such a thing if I hadn’t told him about SOS. Oh well, time to move on people. There are bigger fish to fry.

  62. Steve says:

I side with the Cow on the logo dispute. Thanks for exposing the dishonesty.

  63. I thought John Chow must be hating you lol….

  64. John Cow says:

PropertyIreland: We’ve refunded you all your money. The 10 days of free advertising are on the house.

  65. Tyler definitely wasn’t being straight up to everyone

  66. Mr. Rajawang says:

 too much milk must be bad for your temper.. cool down guys..

  67. Israel says:

cant we all just get along folks….

  68. Austin Overton says:

I don’t like Tyler Cruz… but you should of contacted him before posting without the facts.

    You’ve lost a reader.

  69. John Cow says:

    Austin: Yes, great idea.
Cow-”Hi Tyler, I noticed how you are pulling a fast one on your readers”.
    Tyler-”Yeah Cow, it’s great isn’t it?”.
Cow-”So, mind me posting about you doing this?”.
    Tyler-”Sure, I love the publicity!”

  70. Austin Overton says:

How is he pulling a fast one? Cause he wants to make some money while also earning the designer an extra $100 per client, in which, each client could return?

Instead of going on a rant I’ll just cite a perfect comment on the situation for Tyler’s blog:

“This blog is part of his business. He doesn’t hide that fact, if anything, he openly publicises it. He’s here to make money. He shares free information in return for the little revenue this blog earns. He isn’t your friends, you’ve not been deceived. He had a business opportunity and took advantage. How many of you guys wouldn’t do the same?

The way I see it, $200, $250, $500 – whatever. If Tyler put a site up tomorrow offering the design service at $500 – what interest is it of you guys how much he’s outsourcing the projects for? It’s business in its simplest form, buying at one price and selling for profit.

This blog is a business. Remember that. If you’re questionning this, you should question every company who bills you for something and sources that something at a cheaper price.

The only person to benefit from this is the artist and deservedly so. Great work, whatever the price.”

It just seems you happen to come across normal business tactics and are trying to ride a wave of traffic just like you do with John Chow and this parody site.

  71. Contest Beat says:

Well spotted on the Tyler Cruz thing. When I saw you didn’t do any research so to speak I thought you could be buggered. Turns out you were right though!

  72. Angel says:

The one thing I don’t understand is why the Property Ireland 125×125 ad goes to the Macewan blog.

  73. John Cow says:

    Angel: clear your cache.

  74. Contest Beat says:

Seriously… how much money is the Macewan guy spending on advertising right now!

  75. KingJacob says:

Thats pretty underhanded of tyler, then again alot of people congratulate the cow and chow when they do  things.

  76. Angel says:

    Hey! It worked. Hahaha.

  77. Just checked my PayPal account Cow, thanks for the money back.
The payment was originaly made to support you in your ‘working online & not for an employer’ state, not for click backs, although I do appreciate those clicks.
For those interested, I bought an advertising spot for $125 and put up a pretty generic ad with no text so I could get those clicks without you knowing where you were going – i.e. not a make money online ad or so on…
I got 66 clicks over 10 days, if that is worth it to you, i’d suggest you go ahead and buy an ad, but make it pretty generic…

  78. Teejay says:

congratulations on the technorati rank. all I can say is, “Wow”

  79. steve dowripple says:

I just noticed that Tyler has gone and deleted all the comments that were critical of this underhanded behaviour. I’m not talking about juvenile name calling ones but the ones who simply judged his behavious as unethical and underhanded. He’s trying to sweep all this sh*t under the carpet and forget about it.

  80. Etienne Teo says:
