Another day, another review. Sorry kids, we’ve got bills to pay too and it seems everyone is really happy with the results they get from our reviews - the orders just keep coming in. So today we’re having a look at Top Hosting Center - a web hosting company, as you might have guessed from the name. Yeah yeah, we can hear you thinking out loud; “Ohnoes! Not yet another webhosting company!”. You’re right, its NOT yet another webhosting company. Top Hosting Center seems to be aware of the priorities of the people that seek hosting in this day and age. No longer satisfied with a simple tripod page and sitebuilder, today’s netizens are all armed with an opinion and a voice, and what better way to vent your thoughts online than with a blog?

speedy.jpg

This was actually the first thing that we noticed when we had a look around. Top Hosting Center seems to be runs by young people, that know what goes on in the interwebs. Besides providing some of the cheapest web hosting plans we’ve seen, they have extended their services portfolio with some excellent stuff like SEO for blogging services. Some of us could do this ourselves, but outsourcing is quite popular. Here’s an example of what you can expect from the SEO service from Top Hosting Center:

  • Optimize the permalinks for the SEO from the time of the blog setup
  • Optimize single page (entry or blog post) titles and descriptions
  • Add SEO friendly plugins
  • Avoid Google duplicate content penalties
  • Create SE compliant robot.txt files and sitemaps
  • Register the blog with various blog directories
  • Help add video and podcasts to enhance user experience
  • Boost blog presence in social media networks, and much more!

Like we said - you could do all this yourself, but why bother for just $40? And if your blog is actually hosted with these guys, you’ll get a moo-licious 70% discount on top of that!

Have a look at the cheap webhosting plans THC has on offer. By the looks of it, Hostgator and Dreamhost might have got a fierce competitor on their hands soon. THC has been awarded with the number 1 spot in budget hosting by WebhostDir.com and was in the top ten of fastest growing in December 07, according to HostReview.com. Big sites, big awards - seems to us that THC is in the right track.

Obviously its not all about the money, or at least it shouldn’t be. The single most important thing you need from your webhoster is support. We just ran into a little issue on their website, when trying to sign up for the affiliate program, and contacted the live support. Obviously we didn’t mention that we were doing a review on them, and the support we received was excellent. We didn’t get brushed off with a “try again later” answer, the support rep actually asked us for our details and set up the account manually. 2 minutes later we were able to login to our affiliate account! A very friendly and helpful support department by the looks of it.

You might be satisfied with your current hosting provider, and not really on the lookout for a new plan. That’s ok, you can still have a look at their own blog. It’s packed with essential tips and tricks regarding web site analytics, Blog editors (people, not software), email header etiquette and tons more of blogger blahblah. Unfortunately they don’t seem to have an RSS feed and they haven’t used their own SEO service, as the permalinks aren’t SEO friendly. We couldn’t help but notice and mentioned this in the live chat we had with the supprt department. Our suggestions have been taken into consideration

All in all, THC looks like a great budgethost for bloggers, and has some excellent value for money, even if you’re looking for a dedicated server solution. Like we said, we wouldn’t be surprised if we’d see their company name mentioned alongside the big boys like hostgator and dreamhost soon. Oh, and we nearly forgot to mention that THC is one of themain sponsors of the SOBCon 2008 event. Probably one of the biggest blogging events of the year!

I got in the offer 2 months ago for $95/lifetime with them. That’s right, it’s like $1/year  I even blog about it and I guest most missed it. That’s what happens when you don’t read me. ;) Anyway, I created a niche blog but had troubles while installing Wordpress. Mind you, it’s not my first installation of WP ;). They fixed most of the problems in email/live mode.I still have some issues but did not have time to contact them about(other project). I did not have problems with the affiliate side like you.

The funny thing is that their are in my own extended backward a few 2-3 hours away.

I have seen at least 100 new hosting companies trying to make a living. They all try the same thing. They try to be a little bit cheaper. The truth is people are looking for a hosting company that offers something different and something better.

My site is hosted by THC and few weeks ago I got the fully glory of their Speedy hosting plan. My blog got a dedicated IP address (something missing in the default package of other hosts) and enormous hosting resources. I’m very happy so far. Their support departments are very responsive and their server performance is exemplary.

Hi John,

Thank you so much for your realistic review, Yes you had an issue with the affiliate login because we were in maintenance mode. We are improving our affiliate program for better.

I want to take the advantage of this post to reply to “Expert Earning”, he is getting a good point for “They try to be a little bit cheaper. The truth is people are looking for a hosting company that offers something different and something better.”, for sure we growing fast and we want to be first all the way long, that’s why we offer 1 TB and 33 000 GB Bandwidth ( traffic ) . We are the only Hosting Co. that offers these options with a connexion speed at 100 mbps.

Because we love our customers, we want to give them the best on the market.

I’m curious to know for people what is the most important for them from a Hosting Co?

Best Regards

Hi there,
What are THC’s policies on site content? Also, how does your hosting fare against the “Digg effect”? That seems to be a popular feature in todays hosting needs…

Not sure how you can avoid Google’s dupe content penalties…

“Rumor” has it that there’s no penalty only lesser rankings for it, but more links going towards your dupe content than other same content will still rank higher.

Anyways, that’s off topic, this hosting looks good, and provides a good SEO service to accompany the selling of the hosting, great idea, I have bookmarked their site.

Thanks,

Dan

John, thank you for the excellent review. I was very pleased to read it. You are right about the permalink structure - that’s sadly something we can no longer change for the blog. If we do, all backlinks we built in time will be lost. You probably know that redirects have no SEO value at all. But the permalink structure is not the most important SEO issue for a blog. There are other SEO aspects we take care of to compensate. The permalink structure doesn’t hurt the SE positioning of our blog now. :)

Dom, you just bring on the traffic and you’ll see that the “digg effect” is not something THC fears. On site content: we do not host adult content, erotica, racist or any illegal sites.

I switched to THC after Site5 started getting incredibly unreliable. I was getting database errors and site timeouts three or four times a day for nearly an hour at a time. So far THC has been reliable. Time will tell if they can grow without sucking.

I currently use 1&1. I have nothing bad to say about them. I only pay 5 bucks a month, and they are always having specials. When I signed up it was the first 3 months free! Whenever I start getting to the top of my bandwidth limit, I can then upgrade my account. Anything better would be a free dot com site.
