Not more junk to add to a blog. Have you seen some of these sites. They have every widget known to man, crammed into their site!!! Rotate them, or get rid of them. You see a small 10 line post, then like a mile of white space with nothing but widgets and ads on the right.

One thing that always works against the writer is how to get people to participate. Their are plenty of cool ways, especially the one you just pointed out to raise involvement of the reader.I would be interested to know how well this goes.

It is interesting, but I think only effective on a site like this with a lot of people participating. If you blog is new and no one offers suggestions or votes, then it can be something that makes your site look slow or unread. But on a busy site I think it is a great idea.
