Scot Lies Some More

It appears Mr Scot Smith from RSSxplosion.com is now trying to compete with himself for the stupid cow of the month award. Just after we said that it would be hard to top his stupidity, he proves us wrong with yet another email. This time it’s a receipt that states that we’ve ordered 12,000 RSS subscribers from him.
Scot, we all have silly ideas from time to time, just be kid enough to admit it, drop the project and move on. Is all this negative attention, that is ruining your online rep for years to come, really worth the few bucks you’ll make of poor and unsuspecting newbies? How is business going for sales@rssxplosion.com anyway Scot? Made enough to buy a happy meal yet?

We didn’t order anything so stop sending us fake receipts. And if you really want to make it look legit, at least change the confirmation URL in the email you’ve been sending around to more bloggers. ChipSEO.com received exactly the same email. Seriously, you need to start devoting your time and fruitless efforts in something else, perhaps a life?

Anyhoo, here’s the email we received:

Now quit bugging us please Scot, this is the last piece of attention we’re gonna give you. Unless you manage to think up some more stupid stuff after this. Somehow we feel this isn’t the last we’ll hear from you.

Update: Just had a look at our feedburner stats and it seems someone is trying hard to subscribe 12,000 times to us. arrrrghmatey@gmail.com must be a diehard fan  We’ll your nearly there matey, just 11,976 more to go!

  1. m sure you checked out their post about “RSSxplosion“. It seems like some have found a loophole towards feedburner’s RSS count meter. What RSSxplosion does is actually sign up to a client’s rss feedcountless numberof times through e-mail. Obviously the e-mail feeds are different from regular feeds because e-mail feeds stay on the count every single day. How do I catch these frauds? When there is a simple way to trick a system, there is also a simple way to

Oh cow. Why bother playing in to this guys hands?

It’s obvious he values a quick buck over his integrity and by giving him this public attention he gets the reaction from you that he’s looking for.

Out of sight, out of mind.

    Just my opinion of course.

So did you clickthrough to get your “12,000 new subscribers”?

Seriously , this is becoming boderline spam to me.

  10. Wayne Liew says:

We shall see what he still has in his bag. I never came across someone that tried so hard to fight against bloggers that have authority.

Anyway, I am waiting to see your RSS boost past 12000. LOL

  11. Scot says:

It would be pretty hilarious, and I have had to think twice about this considering your hateful posts but I’m not sure it’s so easily reversible and such a high false RSS feed count might mess up your ad revenue :(

  12. Mike Huang says:

If Scot is really serious about his site, then he’s a dummie.

If he is doing all this as a publicity stunt, it as actually smart of him. I’m sure he got a few buyers from smaller blogs, but what the hell, he’s jipping all the bloggers out there and making the new ones think this is just all a game.

MILK MAN, you have me to back you up :)

Not a million dollars yet but enough money to buy a few happy meals. Not to mention I made 3x this much the first day the site was announced.

But, that’s beside the point and you’ll find a way to try to negate my earnings anyway so it doesn’t matter :p

  19. Daniel says:

I really don’t enjoy using harsh language (ok thats a god damned lie) but is he retarded?

I have only been online for about a year marketing and he basically takes a huge steaming dump on the cardinal rule of reputation.

Good luck EVER regaining our reputation douchebag!

  20. Etienne Teo says:

That’s another blog going down my list.

  21. Malin says:

Seems like this Scott person is in need of quick cash. He should try out PPP instead of bugging people. Mooooh on him!

  22. Steve says:

Maybe you should make this your side business. Busting fraudulent money making schemes.

I wonder just how many people he has managed to sign up?

  23. Mike Huang says:

    Poor Poor Scot…

  24. charles says:

another quick cash type spam. What is he thinking?

  25. Ahmad Uzair says:

buying rss subscribers is the most stupid idea I’ve ever heard. And why Scoot does this? I don’t have any idea in my mind.

We want loyal reader not just only the number…

  29. Matt Jones says:

He emailed me that email too… -sigh-

  30. Scot says:

    Hey John,

That’s someone else messing with you.

I wouldn’t waste my time trying to sign up to your feed with 12,000 e-mail subscriptions.

  31. Rhys says:

Curse you John! Spoilt my post for tomorrow :(

    Good thing I’ve got a PS3 game though ;)

    :D

  32. Dom says:

Hmmm. Just sounds like you’re deliberately promoting this RSS scam, Mr Cow. How much are you getting paid?

  33. James says:

Now look, john cow, you should award it to yourself, because you’re the most stupid cow. What is your problem? You reached fame by registering a domain name of john chow typo and that’s it! And john chow is always talking about how evil is good, so what do you expect? OK I’m gonna cry for you, poor baby!

  34. sir jorge says:

Gmail should regulate creation of names in that matter.

  35. blueyes says:

Well since google owns feedburner now I don’t see how this is gonna fly when they can obviously see it is the same address over and over again. But then again, why are they even trying this. It is way beyond lame.

  36. karen says:

You guys are hilarious. And apparently Scott has one of those Google things that keeps track of each time his name gets used, because he sure commented the milk out of this post. He seems to be having trouble deciding if he’s going to laugh it off, prove he’s made a bunch of money, argue that buying subscribers is a good idea (?), or just insult the manure out of you.

Also, just because this blog is closely named after a very successful one doesn’t make it successful…people looking for John Chow dot Com would just leave without reading the content of John Cow dot Com; what would it take, like 2 seconds to see that this was not John Chow dot Com?

If I’ve read anything the past months about how to catch and keep a reader CONTENT is the word that comes to mind. And John Cow dot Com has got it baby!

  37. Fatgadget says:

I suspect one of two things happening here.

    1. Scott is extremely retarded and has actually done this.

    2. Mr Moo has had the idea to use Scotts previous stupidity to provide some good linkbait.

  38. Ryan Shamus says:

This makes me sort of sick – it’s definitely mega lame, and although I can’t do much about it, I hate seeing the name of my blog on his site.

  39. Forest Parks says:

Ha Ha, not much else to say really!!

Well except that the culprit is a complete moron but that’s obvious anyway!

  40. bloggernoob says:

happy meal. haha u got mad jokes cow. haven’t heard that since i last ordered a happy meal

  41. mahdi yusuf says:

scot is a fool. and i am not just jumping on the band wagon i have had my own experience with the fool. plus everyone knows me and cow don’t get along.

  42. Quite a weirdo..

I mean who would actually include a testimonial from John “Chow” and think that people would not bother to investigate further.

  43. link bait says:

Some people are just unbelievable. This is another one of those people who thinks they have a brilliant way to trick the Internet into making them rich. Give it up, Scot.

  44. jerrykhoo says:

I think this guy is totally funny. Maybe he should find himself a career in comedy instead

  45. You do realize you are giving him more publicity by writing about him right? Any publicity is good publicity…

    -R

  46. BleuChip.com says:

I read somewhere to get your site noticed you’ve got to be controversial but this guy has blown that by being totally dishonest.

I’ve no doubt he has got a lot more visitors to his site but I bet they’re not buying his product.

What does make me laugh is his claim that http://bloggingfingers.com/ has signed up to it but if you follow the link to their site he’s given probably the worst testimonial ever. Nice going.

  47. Scot says:

    @mahdi yusuf:

Just because I wouldn’t link to your blog doesn’t make me a fool. So, yes you are jumping on the social validation bandwagon.

  48. George says:

Maybe John Cow and Scot are one and the same person… that would be evil  wounldn’t it?

  49. zawadi says:
