We here in the JC pasture’s were saddened this week when we learned that the worlds Oldest Blogger, Olive Riley passed away in New South Wales on July 12th of this year.

That’s right everybody, she was the world’s oldest blogger and she passed away at the age of 108. She was born in 1899 and would have turned 109 on October 20th.

Riley’s blog was generally about her day-to-day life, she would often recount living through two world wars (You go girl!) and raising three children on her own while she worked as a cook and a bar maid (You were amazing!). Since February 2007, Riley was able to post around 70 entries onto her blog, but she jokingly called it a ‘blob’.

It was suggested by one Mike Rubbo that Riley should take up blogging after he had done a documentary on her life around four years ago. She made her final post that was dated on June 26th that she felt a little weak and was unable to shake off a bad cough.

In her final post, Riley also talked about how well she was being treated and how her daughter came to visit, who is a professional singer and they sang ‘happy songs’ together.

We just wanted to take the time to pay our respects to Olive Riley who will be mourned by many of her internet friends and family.

You will be greatly missed in the blogging world!

She also had a temporary blog set up here: World’s Oldest Blogger

That’s amazing… Someone born in the 1800′s lived all the way to the 2000′s… Not only that, but they participated not only in the beginning of the internet, but Web 2.0.
    That’s really, really something…
