Respect Your Designer

Today I noticed that we had a little problem called IE7. For some reason, Mr Gates thinks it’s necessary to add a couple of scrollbars to the theme. Quite annoying to say the least. So what do you do after you’ve tried for an hour to fix it yourself? You email the author of your theme and see f he knows what’s up. In all my innocence I removed the footer notes from the theme because I mimicked another blog that uses this theme. I was quite surprised to get an email back:”Since you’re rude enough to remove my links from the footer, I’m gonna be rude and not tell you what might be causing your problem”… designer 1, johncow 0.

sidebar.jpgI quickly replied and explained the whole copycat situation and added Sadish Bala, owner of WP Themes to the sidebar. Luckily he accepted my apologies and gave me a few pointers where to look for the problem. It didn’t take me long after that to pinpoint the problem to the top commentators plugin. There is a little piece of code you add to the sidebar for the comments to show up which has the UL tag in it which defines an unordered list. Remove these and it’s all smooth sailing from there on. Thanks Sadish!

So remember, if you have a blog with a free theme, don’t forget to credit the person that made it. You never know, you might need their help someday.

From where you removed that thing? I have same problem on both my blogs, and I’m afraid it comes from that Top commentator plugin. I tried remove ul’s from sidebar but it didnt help me… In IE6 blog looks ok, but when go to single post - sidebar appears under comments :(

Removing the UL tag from the code that the plugin makes you put in the widget fixed the problem for me :(

The Foooter is gone but his link is included in the featured sites on the sidebar. And thanks for the compliment :)

Firefox is clearly superior! I actually made a post on this as well, with pictures. See it here –> My New Hustle

Never mind what Mr. Gate would think to do or not to do, I simply hate IE and thats it.
