Stop Being So Scared and Actually Do Something Or Your Legacy May Be Disappointing

Written by Jason Katzenback on November 10th, 2010

Are you one of those people that sit there and over analyze everything to death…..rarely following through with anything?

Have you joined numerous membership programs (from online business opportunities, to your local gym) only to quit because it didn’t work (or so you say)?

Have you been trying to earn money online but find yourself jumping from one idea to another, never committing, or allowing yourself to be constantly persuaded by others?

Are you so scared that you are too intimidated to take long-term action on pretty much anything?

I feel in my heart that 90% of the people failing at achieving great results (whether that be in business or just life) are failing because they are too scared and it’s that fear that’s keeping them from success.

Is it wrong to be scared?

In my opinion the answer is a resounding…

YES!

Especially if it is preventing you from accomplishing what you want in life.

I am not saying that I haven’t experienced fear or that it’s not normal to be hesitant or reluctant. No one knows what the future holds for us and fear is a normal emotional response to specific stimuli but it’s how you handle that fear that makes you what you are.

Does your fear cause you to give up at the first sign of trouble?

I see so many people who give up so quickly on something the moment things start to get even the slightest bit rough. These people seem to carry this trait throughout their entire lives… in how they handle road blocks, in their relationships, jobs, hobbies, health and pretty much anything else you can think of.

They start out optimistic and have this almost euphoric state of excitement. Kind of like when you start a new diet and can envision what you will look like when you get into shape or you start a new business opportunity and feel so positive that “this is the one”.  There is this surge of energy that can cause you to even become vocal about how this time it is different.

Then the road block hits!

Suddenly as you get into the new adventure something happens… the excitement starts to disappear, frustration starts to settle in at how overwhelming the task ahead appears and then fear takes over…. and you stop!

Have you ever heard of Pavlov’s law?

This is a really rough synopsis and pardon me if it is a little different then you remember but basically, it was an experiment where people were electrocuted with a slight but painful shock when a red signal appeared. They would be shown a green light and then shortly after the red light would appear and SHOCK!!!

This happened enough times that eventually as soon as the green signal was fired these people’s bodies would instantly react like they were going to be shocked even though the red light stopped appearing and they were no longer being shocked. They were so afraid once the initial green signal happened that they instantly treated it like the green signal was the shock.

Ask yourself truthfully if you have allowed yourself to become afraid of the green light?

Have you gotten to the point in your life that the moment the “signal” appears you completely give up and react like the worse case scenario has happened… even though it hasn’t?

I do not give a crap what your excuses are. You can blame evil internet marketers, big business, the government, you can blame genetics or you can even blame your mother for not breastfeeding you… the fact is you have no one to blame but yourself.

Life is freaking hard… and trying to get ahead in it is even harder.

Every day I am hit with something negative, whether it is an illness in my family, news of a recession, a failed business project or even a customer that over reacts and takes out their frustration by questioning my ethics. The bottom line is how I react to those situations is what makes me who I am.

If you want to succeed at anything, then you need to accept the bumps in the road. Accept that you are going to have to learn new things and those new things might not come easy to you. Do not blame others for that, you need to figure out how to make them work for you.

Stop being scared and blaming everyone else for your lot in life.

I have 101 reasons I could use to try and justify why I might fail at something… but I have a better one for why I am going to succeed. That reason involves three people that matter to me more than anything. My beautiful daughters Gayle and Jillian and my soul mate Charlene. When it comes my time to leave this world what matters most to me is what my life meant to those three special people.

How will you be remembered by those closest to you?

Stop allowing fear to run your life and stop allowing excuses to prevent your success.

Top 13 Auto Blogging Blunders!

Written by Jason Katzenback on October 19th, 2010

OK, if you have been around Johncow for a bit you know that this is a blog.

**SHOCK!!** OMG… really.. your kidding right? Thanks for the insight “Captain Obvious”

Yup.. it is… but this is not an “Auto Blog”.

The reason for that obvious but needed statement is to clarify that there is a HUGE difference between the two and I actually have been “Auto Blogging” longer then I have just been blogging… in fact I have been auto blogging since 2006.

One of the reasons I got into auto blogging initially was for creating blogs that were used just for link building. That however, quickly turned into something of its own and today I am responsible for working with thousands upon thousands of auto blogs.

The reason I wanted to let you know that is because when it comes to Auto Blogging… I know my stuff!

What I have done (with the help of my business partner Jason Potash) is created a really cool PDF called…

The Top 13 Auto Blogging Blunders

You can check it out at…

http://blogblueprint.com/blunders/

It’s a quick read, only 17-pages. But, boy it is loaded with good content… and no filler.

As I’m sure you know… auto blogging is a HOT topic these days, but sadly, most of the information out there is still based on stuff that worked in 2007-2009.

In Internet time, 2009 was 6 years ago.

Things change fast, that’s why I know you’ll like this report.

It will get you up to speed on what’s working right now with autoblogging.

Here’s a link to the report:

Hope you get a lot out of it!

Oh and i am giving away 4 Amazon Kindles for downloading the report and leaving a comment… so PLEASE leave a comment at

8 Vital Tips for A Successful Search Engine Traffic Campaign

Written by Jason Katzenback on October 17th, 2010

If you are trying to make money online, you know that search engine traffic is a HUGE component to your success. The following is a list of 8 Vital Tips for A Successful Search Engine Traffic Campaign according to “me” :)

This is how I do things and it works EXTREMELY well… take it or leave it, this has proven to work for me over and over and over again!

1. One Bite at a Time: You want to focus on one primary keyword for the first 3 weeks for each page you promote, I also recommend you initially only focus on one page at a time. This is because:

  1. It tells Google initially exactly what the page is about.
  2. There will automatically be “variations” added and after 3 weeks you will start to add a lot of variations yourself.

NOTE: Yes I realize variations are crucial but not at first for a brand new website. Focus on the term you want to rank for and then once you are ranking well or after three weeks, start adding variations.

I talk more about variations further down in this post also.

2. Look at Your Competition: Don’t be discouraged when you don’t see some competitors ranking in the top 2 or 3 spots that you can beat. What I do is start out by looking competition that looks beatable and is on page one or the top of page 2. Then I figure out the amount of links I will need to surpass them and increase that by 2X’s.

  1. The search engines might not count all your back links or even find them, so you need to ensure you have more then the competition is showing. For example, if the competition is showing 50 back links, then you will want to have 100 back links to ensure the search engines (especially Google) sees at least 50+.
  2. If there is nothing that appears beatable in the top 5 spots on page one but there is in the top 10 to 15, then go for it. Once you beat them you can progressively work your way to the top position.
  3. You do not want to just match your competitors, you want to BEAT them.

3. Variations Are Important: Eventually you are going to want to use variations. After three weeks or once you are ranking on page 1, you will need to start adding variations in the anchor text links.

  1. DO not force Google’s hand here. Instead, allow Google to tell you what to use. Use Google Keyword Suggestion Tool – type in your blog’s URL and look at what keywords Google tells you relate to your site and then start mixing in some of those terms. I make a list of about 7 to 10 terms that I rotate through
  2. Only use the primary keyword once every three times (30% to 40%)  and make sure to also mix in terms such as the URL of the site, “check this out” and “click here” to make it appear more “natural”.

The fact is Google wants to eventually find variations in your links anchor text and will actually penalize you eventually if it appears that you are too optimized from a linking point of view. That makes the use of variations an important component to campaign success.

4. Limit Interlinking: Try not to interlink Social sites, blogs and other websites you are using to link to your blog. You can interlink a few of them but I try not to interlink any of them. I do not want to risk Google or my competitors being able to uncover everything.

5. Split It Up: Make sure that you split the links to you index page and deep links to about a 50/50 split.

  1. This does not have to be exact, but the routine I follow is I try to always promote a deep link when I promote the index page or if I am promoting a deep link then I will also promote the index page.

6. Consistency: Once you are ranking on the top of page 1, try to maintain an average of one new link a day (approximately 30 a month) with 40% using the main keyword term and the rest variations

7. Variety is Key: Make sure to use a variety of link sources and every month you should change it up a bit.

  1. Make sure the Google page rank is all over the board. You do not want links only coming from high page rank sites.
  2. Make sure some of the links are rel=”nofollow”. Remember we want to look natural here and the fact is some people will link to a site naturally and add a nofollow tag to the link.
  3. Do not use the exact same sites every month, make sure to add in new sites. For example, do not use the exact same article directories every month, mix it up and change them around.

8. Promote Your Promotions: You want to ensure the search engines find each backlink you get and therefore you want to ensure you promote sites that link to you. This can be easily done by bookmarking with a service like Ping.FM

There you go… so what are your comments?

This Is What I Friggen Get For Mentoring Someone!!

Written by Jason Katzenback on October 15th, 2010

In case you have not noticed, I have NOT been very active the past few months with blog posts on Johncow or anything for that matter… the reason (if you care)… is my project that I have dedicated 100% into… BLOG BLUE PRINT at http://blogblueprint.com

I have been working very close with my Web2Mayhem members and have created the most amazing training and tools for auto blogging that is available. Its nice having hundreds of beta testers to pound and prove out my system that has helped me generate loads of income. You see I have actually been autoblogging since 2006… 2 to 3 years before most current supposed “Auto Bloggers” that are selling ebooks on the topic have even been in this business.

I have put all my knowledge into this and I even am giving a blueprint that will see you easily generating $57600 in revenue within one year and only about 7% of those funds will be needed to cover your costs.

I want this to be the best system so badly that I literally dropped loads of other projects and since June have dedicated thousands of dollars and my time to create something that will blow you away.

We are not opening the doors until the end of the month BUT…. I wanted to offer you something that I think is a perfect compliment to the blog Blueprint system that I am releasing and because of that I am going to give you a sweet deal.

You may or may not know this, but Chris Fox, who has made a very good name for himself over the past few years, was mentored by me for a few years starting in 2005 and in fact is now making millions of dollars online and was kind enough to say this…

“The mentor Jason K… Chris follows his every word and now look” ~ Chris Fox

Well, Chris has a brand new product that he just released with his brother Andrew Fox and they are offering it for only $37. Yes there are some upsells you can expect BUT, the $37 value is incredibly worth while and if you do not take any upsells the material you get is solid.

So… here is my offer.

If you use this link –> CLICK HERE THIS IS THE LINK YOU NEED TO CLICK :) (yes of course it is an affiliate link) and sign up for GSneak (which is focused on getting you loads of free traffic to promote affiliate products), I will give you 50% off BlogBlueprint when it launches on October 28th.

Basically that means you will get GSneak for nothing!

I am only offering this to 50 people and I know this is going to go fast so you better take it now before its too late.

I will check the affiliate stats and ClickBank gives your email, so i will contact you and let you know you are on my list to give the 50% discount to for BlogBlueprint.

Fresh Content, Fresh Content, Fresh Content

Written by Jason Katzenback on July 25th, 2010

Gee, what do you think this post is going to be about?

Your content is what is going to truly make you a Trusted Expert – it is the single most important thing you can do.

If you’ve been following all the advice I’ve already given in the Trusted Expert series, you’ve already come up with something of value to provide your users with – that thing that helps cement you as a Trusted Expert in their minds, whether it be a tool, ebook, audio or video file or report, and that’s great, but you can’t stop there.

As I mentioned in the last trusted Expert post about site maintenance, it’s important to your reputation as a Trusted Expert that you continually update your site.  Make sure that you add in new testimonials when you get them – you can keep the best ones from the past up, but also make sure that there are also new ones, so that people will know that you’re still doing a great job of helping your customers now, not just 3 or 4 years ago.

Also, be sure you keep up on what’s happening in your niche, and where applicable, comment on it.  It will add to your Trusted Expert status if you can prove to your audience that you not only participate in the niche, but you’re also up on what’s the latest happening.  Put your ideas and opinions out there enough, and soon people will start to look to you for their news and information about your topic – the very definition of a Trusted Expert.  And if they go to you for information, where are they going to go when they need to buy something – that’s right – to you.

Always respond to customer inquiries, and if you think the information is useful enough, get the original person’s permission and add it to your site.  Not only are you sharing valuable information with your audience, you’re also showing them that you care enough to respond to the people who contact you, making other people more likely to contact you (and possibly buy from you) in the future.

Most importantly, don’t rest on your laurels.  You may have written the best ebook or come up with the best tool in the world to brand yourself as a Trusted Expert.  And you may think that’s enough.  The problem is, no matter how good the original was, everything on the internet has an expiry date on it.  Eventually, you’ll need to either update what you have or come up with something new entirely.   By being proactive about this, you’ll just further reinforce the idea that you’re an expert in your niche.

Your content is the way you communicate with your users.  Everything you say, and how and when you say it contribute to the overall effect of you being seen as an expert.  The cornerstone of being a Trusted Expert is to provide users with useful information – not to make a sale.  The sale is the side affect of them trusting you because of your useful content.  So make sure that you put at least as much effort, if not more, into the quality of your content as you do with your marketing tactics and you’ll be fine.
