Almost 4 weeks ago, some comments were made about the marketing ability of John Cow… and it got us snorting mad.
We understand that controversy is great for bringing attention to bloggers and so we understood that Garry wanted to get attention by making claims about us but we just could not sit there and do nothing. So as you all know, the COWpetition was created to put an end to the smack talk once and for all.
Over the past two weeks we have brought you through the process of how we built a brand new blog and starting on Friday we are going to be sharing with you everything we are doing to promote our blog. So we thought this would be a perfect time to share with you the results so far, so you can see first hand that the methods we are about to teach you are not theory but honest to goodness solid FACTS!
Result #1:
JohnCow –> We received many comments and emails about how we should not have targeted such a competitive market, we of course laughed at those comments because we knew damn well what we were doing and the proof in that is the fact that we are on page one in Google for our main term “Video Game Review” and “Video Game Reviews” for the GamerzReviewz blog
Garry Conn –> Sorry Garry, but we look in the top 100 results for your blog for the term of your index page and you are no where to be found?
Disclaimer: We wanted to see what the traffic ratio was in comparison for this because maybe Garry’s term was a lot better. Well, this actually caused us to laugh. Here is the Google trends to show you the traffic potential and pay close attention to the fact that Google estimates Garry’s submitted blog traffic to be not even high enough to record any trends for it… Ouch!
Result #2:
John Cow –> Link Bait page traffic: we have been preaching the power of a link bait page for helping explode and maintain traffic growth. First of all “Click Here” to check out the 90++ terms we are getting search engine traffic from to our Gamerz Reviewz link bait page alone.
Garry Conn –> Well we assume that the page he has called “Free Debt Consolidation Books” is it because the focus seems to be on that, but sorry we could not find it in Google anywhere?
Results #3:
John Cow –> Getting initial traffic is great but what about consistent traffic growth… well Gamerz Reviewz (according to Alexa) has been on a steady increase from the get go…. look at the graph below.
Garry Conn –> Well looks like you had a good start there Garry (not as good as ours of course) but damn you kind of nose dived there didn’t you? Well maybe it was because you focused on getting traffic to it from the make online online community instead of the market it was actually in. We could be wrong though.
Summary –> GamersReviewz is dominating in all the areas it has initially been targeted on (and we have just started). Garry Conn’s site on the other hand, well you be the judge.

LOL! Congratulations on the much deserved success! The google search rankings alone make the blog immensely valuable in my opinion. Now I am going to play devil’s advocate. Do you believe you would have had the same success if you had to use the credit card debt niche yourself?

Ya know I might actually feel bad for Garry…at least until I recall that he was the one that opened up his big yap and tried to get all indignant with yet another MMO blog.
The same stupid rant he’s done a hundred other times about how HE’s the only one who is honest and he’s the only one you can trust…..blah blah blah.
Then I start getting affiliate pumps via his email for products that he doesn’t even know how they work, despite claiming to own them.
Hopefully this will teach him a very public and very humbling lesson before it’s all over, even if it is in good fun.
Not to rain on parade. But I just checked. On Google you are bottom of page 2 for “Video Game Review” and top of page 3 for “Video Game Reviews”. I don’t know how to figure out what data center, but I just typed http://www.google.com. Still out of Millions of sites that is good.
I didn’t find you in the other two SEs.
I took screen shots. I can email them if you want. I love all of the posts and information. Although, it is kind of like opening my mouth to a fire hydrant.
Yes there are different datacenters and we just tested and you are right that it varies from page 1 to page 3 depending on the datacenter you use… the point is this blog is three weeks old and we have not even started in the promotion of the index page as of yet, which in our opinion for a competitive market like this wiht the traffic volume it has is excellent results. All the energy has been on the link bait page… three days ago the heavy promotion on the index page was only just really started.
Watching this thing unfold is very educational, I’ll be anxious to see what you all did to get your results.
I too am subscribed to both lists, and I am learning from both of you. I like to see the different methods and how they work, can’t wait until you unvail the promo piece.
