Oops, We Messed Up

Right after our promo post for googletime.info yesterday, something went slightly wrong and a lot of people ended up going through to our test server with the links we provided because of some DNS issues. The test environment product had a pricetag of $0.01 instead of the introduction price of $29.95! Needless to say - we weren’t amoozed when we saw that over 15 paypal transactions were for 1 cent

Fortunately the issue seems to have been resolved, and everyone that ‘purchased’ the websites package never received a verification email with their login details. So it looks like we haven’t been handing out our business for a cent..

We’d like to apologize to everyone that encountered this issue, it was one of those ‘out of our hands’ situations, which always seem to pop up when you least need them. Anyway, the links should all be good now and you can order the goods just like you did yesterday, except this time the price won’t be $0.01 anymore.

Just to answer a few questions from the comments and some emails we received:

1. No, these sites are not against Google’s Program Policies. Here’s a list of those terms:

Sites displaying Google ads may not include:

  • Violent content, racial intolerance, or advocacy against any individual, group, or organization
  • Pornography, adult, or mature content
  • Hacking/cracking content
  • Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia
  • Excessive profanity
  • Gambling or casino-related content
  • Content regarding programs which compensate users for clicking on ads or offers, performing searches, surfing websites, or reading emails
  • Excessive, repetitive, or irrelevant keywords in the content or code of web pages
  • Deceptive or manipulative content or construction to improve your site’s search engine ranking, e.g., your site’s PageRank
  • Sales or promotion of weapons or ammunition (e.g., firearms, fighting knives, stun guns)
  • Sales or promotion of beer or hard alcohol
  • Sales or promotion of tobacco or tobacco-related products
  • Sales or promotion of prescription drugs
  • Sales or promotion of products that are replicas or imitations of designer goods
  • Sales or distribution of term papers or student essays
  • Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes on the legal rights of others

None of the above are applicable to the mini sites you get in the package, they are all preloaded with articles that were written for these sites, and you can easily add more articles thorough the admin panel. There’s plenty of places around where you can buy cheap articles. And remember that Adsense isn’t the only advertising product you can use on these sites - Yahoo and Amazon work too.

2. No, these are not scraper sites. We ourselves get scraped all the time and know how annoying it is. The RSS feeds that are showing up in the sites are from big news sites, stuff that everyone uses. The sites also have a click through if you want to read the entire article. In the end, you might up sending them some traffic actually.

3. We’re not sure how many of these packages we’re going to sell, but we’ve not put up a hard limit. Again, it’s very quick and easy to modify your content so that there won’t be another site alike.

4. No, you don’t have to buy 85 domains, but chances are, you might have a few laying around that aren’t doing anything. You can also just use a new folder or subdomain per site obviously.

5. Once again, we’re not promising instant riches here, or high quality websites. If that’s what you’re looking for, you might want to consider that you’ll have to fork out a whole lot more moolah than just $29.95.

Feel free to ask if there’s something else you’d like to know about the product, and we’re sure that the current buyers will post the reviews as soon as they get around to it.

I didn’t purchase this product, but I’m wondering if you will be honoring those 15 purchases for a cent?

No we won’t, we stated the $29.95 price in the post. When people saw that the link actually was for $0.01, you could have guessed something was wrong.

We’ve emailed them and the replies we received so far we’re all understanding and have re-ordered the product. We’re more than happy to refund everyone’s cent.

Does everyone that orders the package, get all the same articles? Or does each package come with its own articles unique to the buyer?

oh well…stuff happens.

That would have been nice. $0.01 for 85 sites. :)
But since you’re the seller, I guess it wouldn’t be.

Anyway, I’m going to go see how this goes before I purchase my own package. Sure looks promising.

Look pretty promising but I can register all those sites in the same Google Adsense account ? and two, you will be able to charge your check when you reach $100, thats for every site ( $100 accumulated with all the sites) or $100 for each one??

Hey John,

do these mini sites have unique content to that one blog or do they just steal posts from other blogs. i resently got 3 comments on my wordpress blog that said they were spam and they were all from the same people and they were taking content from my blog. its not making me happy!!!

well anyway if any one want’s check out my blog at http://allmacallthetime.wordpress.com

2008-01-04 21:40:37

What, it’s more than 1 cent now? I was going to buy 10 of them, rats!

lol

anyway, 29.95$ is a fair price for 85 minisites, isn’t it?

I’d get that, can someone point the link? I think I missed it!

2008-01-04 22:58:37

From skim-reading the presentation of this product I got the impression this is a one time only fee. It’s not a monthly fee right?

One more question. Everyone that pays for those 85 sites will get the same sites? I mean sure everybody will have a different domain name , but still. Same sites, same content?

It could be a real bargain if it 0.01. But i heard some worries from your readers. I myself have some worries too. Maybe you can clarify on some of those worries.

Hey, I got the websites for 0.01 and I was able to download the sites.

I can tell you that they are worth the 1 penny  . In fact they are still a great deal at $29.95 and are worth more than the asking price.

If you’re on the fence–get the sites.

Good luck,

pcguy/Jim

All those people with specific question re Google policy should go straight to the source, Google, for the info …. Cow is selling the websites, it’s up to you to work out the legalities on whether you need multiple acounts, the T^Cs of it all.

Recently it was said that Google wont be indexing RSS feeds anymore. So, how will this websites organic traffic explode if it is left on automatic performance? I would like to know as it is not making sense to me.

Secondly, what about the duplicate content issue?

Very good initiative! Have you been making money from the samples running at googletime.info (I mean adsense and other affiliates money)?

If what Learn Web Analytics says is true, then I only lost 1 cent…

Where will these sites be hosted? And will there be future hosting or other fees? Will the same articles be sold to more than one person? I’m assuming yes on this last point.

I’m interested in this–it might be a good add to the adsense portfolio.

And are the same articles shared amongst each purchaser?

Looks really good, I noticed you have 85 adsense demo on the page. Can we use GoogleTime to make new niches or are we limited to the 85 niches that comes with the package?

Thanks!
