New To Affiliate Marketing? So Are We

In the past few weeks we’ve been snooping around in the affiliate marketing realms. Sure, blogging is fun, and we’re making some decent cash while we’re at it, but besides covering our primary needs like food, rent and bills, we’d like to take our online earnings to the next level. So what better way to make a killing online than affiliate marketing? Looking at some well known online marketers, we doubt there’s a more accessible method than affiliate marketing to make money on the Internet. Anyone can set up a site and become an affiliate for one product or the other. You can spend money on advertising it, but you don’t have to. It all boils down to your ability to think out of the box, and grab an opportunity when it arises.
- Shoemoney for example made a killing on the ringtones market (probably still is) and we’ve all seen the $132,994.97 check he received from Google for example.
- The Problogger loves Chitika and this must be one of the affiliate programs of his choice. No wonder really, we’d love anything that made us over $250,000 in such a short time too!
- John Chow doesn’t have a big example payout that we can use, but we all know he recently opened the doors to his TTZMedia affiliate program, so there must be money to be made. Mr Chow doesn’t do anything if it doesn’t make him money.

Because we’ve just got our feet wet in the blogosphere, we haven’t really had time to focus on affiliating as an additional source of income but its definitely something we will start to work on in the next few months - call it our good year’s resolution! We’ll be trying to keep you people involved by a weekly ‘Trial and Error’ post, in which we’ll share our findings about the wonderful world of affiliate marketing. Obviously any tips you might have for us are welcome in the comment section.
The first step we took on this journey was probably the easiest one - Subscribing to affiliate marketers blogs to see what they’re talking about and what we can learn from them. A few of these bloggers are Zac Johnson, Uber Affiliate, the Affiliate Toolbox and Andrew Wee. Obviously there’s tons of blogs out there with excellent affiliate marketing information, but we want to start small and thus concentrate on just a few of these guys. Once we’re comfortable with the basics, we’ll be exposing ourselves to more information.
A good start for those of you who wish to embark on the same journey; even though we still think most eBooks are scams, there’s actually a few out there that will teach you a lot about the online money making industry. We’re always skeptical about eBook sales pages, but there’s one that we actually found extremely useful and very cheap; The “Rich Jerk’s eBook”. Not only is it packed with great tips and tricks, its also written in a down to earth, realistic tone. It doesn’t promise you overnight riches, it even invites you to try the hundreds of other eBooks in the niche - they’re confident that you will end up coming back to use their techniques. For just $10, this eBook is seriously one to buy - or at least, consider buying. With a little work and following directions that the Rich Jerk gives you, it’s nearly impossible NOT to turn this into a profit that’ll make your $10 investment look like peanuts - which it is!

Definatly cow, if you have the time to stay at home and blog youy should be making the most of your time. Work Sucks 9-5 so capitilse your time and try to make as much as you can. affiliate is definatly the way to go, its just that you have to CONTINUALLY tweak to keep making money. Changing campaigns and keywords. I would suggest making a content site and building it up, you seem to be good at that
I’m going to try this with a niche that I know loads about, then one I know not quite as much about, and so on. Hopefully it can lead me out of my job
I use amazon, but of course you will probably do way better than me on that one.
For what it is, it’s not bad.
Well a good script for affiliate marketing is also the adsenseloser.com script because you can use it without adsense and just promote affiliate products with it. Very smart as automation is the number ONE thing you have to take care if doing successful affiliate marketing.
Rich Jerk from Malaysia who can make your American Dream comes true. Malaysians The Jerk who is still boasting about outdated stuff like Rolex and Playboy Mansion. The Jerk who loves to drop names. The Jerk’s blog which still uses cliched header with stock pictures of flashy car, mansion, yacht and tropical island. The jerk with an equally cliched voice-over announcement [or he called it radio commercial]. The jerk is so rich that he still needs to sell an e-book which costs only $9.95. The jerk who uses the corny bikini-clad girl from Life Face On Web on his blog. This Jerk is not arrogant, foul-mouthed or obnoxious which he is trying so hard trying to portray. He is not even a jerk. He is trying to be different. But those who believe this jerk, then they are real JERKs!
Hi,
If your internet marketing career easy with a lucrative affiliate business, learn to integrate article writing and article marketing into your affiliate business. Even if you just write one article a day, that is an awful lot of good promotion from just 20 minutes per day, and the effect is truly cumulative.
I’m planning to sign up for AzoogleAds by the end of the year, partly because I read they assign you your own personal affiliate manager, who will review your site and help you find affiliate products and programs that are a good fit for your blog niche. That’s exactly what I need too. I don’t really have a well defined niche, which is why when I signed up for Commission Junction (another affiliate network), all I could do was stare at my administrative page and think, “WTF am I supposed to do now???”
Affiliate marketing isn’t in itself hard for bloggers to set up though. It’s just a matter of finding quality, relevant (and underrepresented) affiliate products, then building a good post on your blog that can be modified lightly to serve as a landing page, then doing a PPC campaign to lead visitors to that landing page. After that, it’s test test test and more testing to see how you can boost your conversion rates, which can involve everything from revamping your landing page to finding that magical keyword in Adwords that’ll send your traffic conversion rates sky high.
I didn’t find the information in the rich jerk ebook very useful because his techniques seem like a good idea but what you really need are tools that give you an edge. Right now I’m finding success with Google Assassin. I won’t put my affiliate link here, you can read what I have to say about it on my blog.
Sure, MLM is still most cost-effective Internet Marketing Method so why so little marketers are using it?
how can he made that money? 132,997.97 is huge !!
glad to see your going into affiliate marketing! it is the fastest way to see income! I am always interested to see how users start out because I want to see what I could have done different when I started or imply the new tricks that I never done. I love affiliate marketing. It is my best income source.
Ah…. I see you’ve started affilliate marketing with e-books
The Rich Jerk book wasn’t that good in my opinion but then again what can you buy for $10 these days?
Good luck with it though, affiliate marketing through content websites is where the real money is. One small tip, if you’re in the UK then TradeDoubler can offer you access to affiliate schemes for many of the mainstream high street shops. I found it easier to start with these than promoting strictly “e” only products.
Really looking forward to seeing what you do with this. Hopefully you decide to go the super open and transparent route and share everything rather than worrying about keeping all the secrets right away lol ;). Zac is the best example I can think of and if you can follow in his footsteps as far as sharing what you learn as you learn it it should be very popular ;). His continuing guide is already very informative with just two post so far and he plans to give the full guide away for FREE once it is in a more complete form. Just doing that he will probably end up making more money than he would from selling an ebook…I mean think about it, share your tips with people and help answer their questions. They end up signing up with your referral links and you helping them make money helps you make money in the long run. So even if you are doing it to really help people it becomes worthwhile to spend the time and effort on because it also pays down the line. Plus you earn lots of respect from people like me lol.
here is his guide if you haven’t already read it: http://zacjohnson.com/category/super-affiliate-guide/
Really looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
Thanks for the Post. There are some resources mentioned that I didn’t know about.
I’m newer at this than you guys (less than a month), but see a lot of potential.
Sean
I’m shocked at how quickly you guys became popular. Excellent. Next, become rich!
New to affiliate marketing here too. I understand much of the basics, but to me, it still is much harder than a lot of people make it out to be. I knew that when I started, but I guess I didn’t want to believe it. I mean, with everyone flashing 6 figure checks in your face and making it seem to easy, I thought I’d be able to quit my day job in a few days (kidding).
I signed up at CPAEmpire and Azoogle and have been promoting some offers though Yahoo’s PPC network (heard it was the easiest to understand for beginners so I started there). Plus I had a $100 in free clicks from them (email me if you want the link). Anyway, I’ve tried a couple offers, seen a ton of impression, a few clicks, but no sales/leads. So…I’ll have to do some more reading/asking around to see exactly what I’m doing wrong. Maybe it’s the wrong keywords? To low of a big price? I don’t know. I’ve only been doing it a couple weeks and I’ve not devoted as much time as I would like, so we’ll see what happens.
Keep us posted on your progress. I’d love to learn all I can.
You should check out this fairly new blog. The owner is just getting involved with affiliate Marketing and is posting regularily in great detail about what is working and what isn’t. He’s also giving specific details about the niches he is targeting. Makes for a really good read.
I have no affiliation with this site, it just happens to one of the blogs I’ve been reading over the past couple of weeks.

I not actually familiar with the word “affiliate” but is something about helping you to earn some money. I have started to used some but not going that well. Hope that i may earn some money through that one day.
I think the best money making way for you would for you to get ouside ads your site has real good content so it would be so viable for you to get advertisement
affiliate programs aren’t the only moneymakers out there. Systems like the upcoming uVme(http://uvme.wilcox-studios.com) offer a way to profit from the explosion in casual gaming online. I plan on building a huge business out of it.
