no google will not have a problem with your sitemap. The best thing to do is to get the google webmaster account and they answer all those questions there.

I copied the structure, I changed all of the info over to the new site. As the blog grows, the sitemap could become quite large. You don't believe Google has a problem with that, I'm assuming.

I'll get the WordPress tool.

Excellent advice. Once thing you might also want to consider doing is including in your thankyou page a reminder that subscribers white list your email (and links to white listing resources if needed).

Enjoy,

Barbara

Does pinging feedburner ping just feedburner or do we still have our ping list?

Isn't it better to ping more places? I have about 50.

We are in Toronto for meetings the last two days and the internet connection here at our hotel is not that great and so we had to wait. We are going to have it tomorrow now... we will be sending out info about it today.

copied a sitemap??? What do you mean you copied a sitemap from another site?

As for the important, it is VITAL in our opinion. The first is that it makes it much easier for Google to spider your entire site. For the amount of work it takes to build one and for the fact that it "helps" ensure Google has clear access to every page, the quesiton is why would you not want to have one?

The second reason (and we will show this in a coming up post) the data Google gives you in the webmaster tools area is VERY powerful.

I copied a sitemap I had from another site, but only added the main pages. How important is it for the sitemap to include all of the pages? Won't Google and the others follow your links and index the site?

Consistently submitting sitemaps is one thing I have been lacking on doing sometimes. I'm interested to see the data you are talking about.

The robots.txt file is a permission system for allowing and disallowing "bots" access to different areas of your website. You put it in the same directory as your index page and the best deal is to check out http://www.robotstxt.org/ to learn more.

"Step 3: Upload these two new files to the same directory as your robots.txt file and change the permissions on them to six.six.six which is read & write access"
Which directory (is a specific name required?) and what is the robots.txt file contents and purpose?
Thank you
