A certain self-proclaimed “Social Millionaire” pinged us and asked for a review of, what could be, the next big million dollar idea. Just when we thought nobody could come up with yet another Million Dollar Idea, 19 y/o Entrepreneur Pat Hankinson surprised us with the refreshing angle he’s using to become a dot com Moo-gul. No pixel sales and no wiki pages this time. Its old-fashioned keywords, mixed with some new-wave social media that should do the trick according to Pat.

Unfortunately, it’s not very clear what exactly Pat is going to do to get the whole social media scene involved. Our best guess is that he’ll have a master plan to start driving social traffic to his site, exposing the advertisers that bought a keyword. The interesting thing is that the keywords range from $1 to however much money you’d like to spend on one. The more you pay, the more visibility you’ll get. Having just started out, there’s not a whole lot of competition going on yet, but this could quickly change, seeing Pat has started to invest in sponsored reviews around the net. Here’s another one we found, which might have some additional info for you if you’re interested in getting on board for a few dollars.
We’ve grabbed two spots for ourselves, extra kudos to whomever can guess which ones we got
Will the social network angle work? It’s hard to tell because nothing is as unpredictable as the social network users. If Pat has some sort of system in place, where he can actually drive mad social network traffic towards his site, it just might be a good investment. For a few bucks, you can’t really go wrong anyway. The fact that he’s already dishing out dineros for reviews tells us Pat is serious about making this work. We get a warm and fuzzy feeling from passionate people like that, and hopefully his passion will make us more money. The two keywords we bought are directed to, you might have guessed it, sites that make convert traffic into money. You could put up your affiliate links, or promote you own product.
If you decide to take the plunge and become part of what might be the next big thing, make sure you check out where Pat hangs out and become his friend on either Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, Orkut, Stickcam or Bebo. Surely you don’t want to be the person that didn’t become friends with the Social Millionaire. When, and not if, he goes viral and becomes another Internet superstar, you’ll be kicking yourself for missing out on a great networking opportunity!

Thanks for the amazing review! I must say I am extremely happy with it.
If any of your readers have any questions or comments about the website feel free to post them here on John Cow’s website. I’ll be monitoring the comments here. Hope you guys like the website!

Seems like Million Dollar Wiki, part 3,000 as mentioned above…
People need to come up with unique ideas. I’d be surprised if he made more than he paid for this review.
Interesting concept, but who knows if it can be marketed out..

Agree with Jason and SOB - just more of the same in my opinion. Linking to a page full of keywords (see linkexperiment.com) isn’t going to catch anyone’s interest again, even with the ’social millionaire’ twist.

We think you guys seems to forget one big thing. The Internet ages and so do its users. Just because the ‘older generation’ has been there and done that. There’s a whole new generation, that’s just discovering the Internet. These younger people are the ones that are vividly using the social network scene, and they might not have had as much exposure to these million dollar ideas yet.
Cow has a point there. But younger people tend to “shift attention” very quickly.

Very cool concept. I think I’ll head over there and check out some keywords for myownself. thanks Cow.

I really do not want to defend my idea - I want to help you understand why this could be the next big thing. Since this is a money making blog I want to help you guys realize about some key social marketing ideas that will increase your business and is the foundation of The Social Millionaire.
There are hundreds of millions of people constantly using social networks like MySpace and Facebook. All I have to do is perform an action on these social networks and now all my friends know about it. This is called Social Engagement. If I write a new blog post, share a link or even upload any pictures, my friends will see it and check it out. This will create an amazing return rate amongst my friends and will even generate new friends. Think about it in the same way you find out about John Cow’s most recent postings through his RSS or MyBlogLog community.
You are probably asking yourself, how many of my visitors will actually become friends. I have a feeling a lot of the younger crowd will add me as a friend because they want to feel like they have been apart of something. But how big could that possibly be? Check out this Web-celebrities MySpace page:

The Million Dollar Homepage and Million Dollar Wiki were not engaging enough. They provided little to no value to stay in touch with the website. The reason the Million Dollar Homepage had traction was he was able to hit the media like crazy. Luckily I have experience with the media (couple newspapers, radio shows, and one magazine) but it is too early to call them in.
@Jason: Profit from this review is only way metric to gage the success of the review by. In just the past 12 hours I have had people emailing me, commenting on my blog, adding me to their friends list on Facebook. That to me is already seeing a good ROI. And - because of John Cow’s sheer brilliance I now have some future ideas for new reviews.
@Jorge: Yes – “Watch Lost Online” is one of JC’s keywords. Can anyone find the second one? (think of one of the latest posts)

Pat, I am not trying to discourage you, but the success of this whole thing really depends on how you promote your profiles????

The keywords Cow bought are “Freelance Writing” and “Watch Lost Online”
@Jim: I see a striking similarity between your blog and John Cow
@SOB: Yes - the website does depend on the success of how I promote the profiles. I have several ways to do this, I just wanted to test out with a small community to make sure everything is working first before I do any big promotion.
@Matt: You got them

I heard about it from John Cow’s Tweet and went over within 10 minutes and bought 5 slots. One because we wanted to help Pat, and two because there may be some value to us if we get a few new members looking at our site.
The last I heard there was something like 200,000 new blogs started every day. What may be old information to some is brand new and exciting to others.
In the traditional old fashioned corporate world, the closest thing to social networking is the companies that are people network based, such as Mary Kay, Amway, Tupperware, etc., where their business strategy is often home parties and friend to friend. After 30 years or so of doing the same thing, there are still plenty of people that are just hearing about the concept for the first time.
So, it is a big world, and there is a steady supply of people that are just starting to use the computer, or just read their first blog, etc.
It will be interesting to monitor the progress.
@Pat - I was one of the suckers that bought into the MDW craze, so I pretty much have an idea how “awesome” it is for a webmaster. It would take 1 ban from Myspace or Facebook on your profile, and your entire business model is kapoot!

@SOB: I have been thinking about the whole idea of Facebook and MySpace blocking my account. (more Facebook then MySpace). My conclusion: do you realize how sweet that would be
Not sure if you heard about fellow blogger Robert Scoble being blocked by Facebook but that sure did turn into some wild free press for him. The amount of press I could generate from that would be unimaginable.
Pat Hankinson’s last blog post..Moo?
@Pat
You really aren’t putting yourself in “Scoble” league now are you? Totally a different ballgame. Scoble’s blog is an accomplished, famous and considered a top blog. There are plenty of people that get banned on facebook and I think our good ol’ Johncow got banned, don’t think that made any big time news.
Regardless, I am playing devil’s advocate, and have nothing against your plan. I only wish you luck, and just hoping that my immense insights () help you.

OK, I am lost, who exactly are the targets here ? So you’re trying to sell the links to web masters, but trying to attract the social community …. right ?
I think web masters will say “been done before” …. as seen above and then the MySpace and Social crew will say “this is ugly” and “what is it”.
Plus if we as webmasters want to target social sites - we can just do our own networking within these environments and then there’s a possible Google slap for purchasing links for us web masters and then a Google slap to the links page for selling links ….
Any youngster who tries something new is to be commended! Following my own ideas and blazing new paths is what enabled me to break the Google code back in 2004. Best wishes for success for the kid.
Data points,
Barbara
