I’ve spent many hours doing keyword research only to find the words don’t convert.

It is almost always the keyword phrases that you think won’t convert that do?? Its weird !!

Before I commit to any keyword (in relation to affiliate marketing) I always go down the road of checking it out in Adwords for a week or 2. I don’t mean spending my own money but rather seeing how many people are bidding on it, how much and for how long. The ideal is to find phrases that have 100,000-200,000 natural search results and have 3-4 people spending money on Adwords for consistently. Usually means there is limited competition for that phrase but a profit in it.

Luckily, I’ve never had to be a keyword hound as I have my own source of traffic. I’ve always found this way of advertising to be more of a gamble than an investment for traffic. But I suppose if you do it right it would work. I just don’t like to risk my mooney too often I suppose.

Also Cow, why are you advertising on your own entrecard today??? lol

A reasonable amount of searches per day with a low amount of matches. Don’t go for the big stuff, pick off the easy phrases with less competition. Depends on your niche i guess.

10% keyword saturation, and making very unique phrases which then make your adwords campaign cost a few cents per click instead of a $5+ on the most popular. Its the method I am using for some of my products at the moment with great success. Its a pain I agree and not novice friendly. Luckily their is plenty of help for it across the net.
