Belive him, this software will make your life much easy. It’s a well build software very easy to use and it’s FREE. Even if you are totally new to web marketing you will have no problems using Traffic Travis.

It’s great that you can still find very good free software.

I really enjoy using Traffic Travis, it helps me a lot. Web CEO it’s even better but this is another disusion.

You can find other opinions about Traffic Travis : http://www.theseosuite.com/?p=88#more-88

1. It depends on whether the product name itself will be highly searched. For example when a large product launch happens then people will often search for the product name by itself. So in that case we would use something like "productnamereview.com"

If however the product name is not brand new and has a lot of competition already we would focus on the keyword that we think people very targeted to that product would look for. So if we were promoting the Mac Air for example, and the word macairreview.com was taken we might use a word like compactmaclaptop.com (as long as this was a phrase we uncovered from our research).

So we guess the answer you are looking for is the long tail term that has the best traffic potential.

2. We would find something a little more in between but that depends on the traffic potential. If we have a word that has 7000 allintitle and 500 clicks a day versus one that is 15000 allintitle with 600 clicks a day, we will take the lesser.

Hey Cow,
Great course! Thanks so much for providing all of this great info.
In this post, your "Bonus Tip" about getting a domain name leaves me with a couple of questions:
1. If you're building an affiliate money site with other feeder marketing sites, is it best to get a domain name for the MONEY site using your best top level keyword or should the money site have a domain name with your best long tail keyword?

2. Is it better to get a domain name with a top level, lots of searches, but highly competitive keyword (e.g. 99,000 allintitle), or a domain name with a long tail keyword with less than 7,000 allintitle competition?

Yes you want to use the quotes, that is our preference. As for the keyword, yes try the .net and .org

Our preference is to always go .com because it is the easiest to remember for people from a branding stand point.

As for Google, ya they never show the same results... it depends on the data center you might be referencing and the fact that they are always moving their index around. Google's data is NEVER to be trusted as exact... they are simply estimates and guidelines.

Hi,

Great posts and just managed to find some time today to catch up.
I've already put in place your advice so far an am now onto the keyword research.

When you refer to the allintitle: results do you mean to include the inverted commas "" to surround the keyword.

I'm hoping the answer is yes

If a particular dotcom name is not available : mypreferredkeyword.com
Would you recommend going for mypreferredkeyword.net or .org or would it be better to choose say my-preferredkeyword.com (i.e throw in a dash somewhere instead?)

Finally - I've noticed in the past strange results from Google in terms of allintitle or allinanchor searches. On one particular day, I may find that a keyword looks really competitive as it returns maybe 10,000 results. A week later I find that it gets 200,000 results. Any idea why this would happen?
