Shannon Lilly is a Young Entrepreneur who is taking the net by storm with his blog called InfectedByBugs.com!

It may be fun and easy to grab a new domain start up another blog or business and try to make profit by hitting the ground running. But wait you bought the domain, started the blog or business and you haven’t made any profit to date. Why is that?

The problem with most of us is the fact that we try to get to much done online. The world has molded us into fast paced get things done beings which we were never supposed to be. In fact if we would just slow down for a few minutes and contemplate what we are about to do we will be more successful and probably make more money down the road instead of taking the quick dying route.

Your current Boss may be one of those “I want it on my desk pronto” kind of people. Being pushed to the limit is good in most cases but not when it starts to effect our health, family or our own dreams. You know that dream that’s been keeping you up at night because you haven’t created it yet? Guess what your missing your calling because you have not tried it yet!

All these guys who started FaceBook, Myspace, YouTube and other major websites had a dream and took a few steps to start it up. What do you know, instant success stories like no other! You could be the next one if you would just create your idea and stop beating around the bush!

What I am really trying to say with this post is you need to get your act together if your serious about being successful online. You need to start a project and be diligent in it until you turn a decent profit, business does not just happen to anyone it still requires work and care to become great.

Take it from me, starting a great business and or blog is hard but well worth the hassles if you stick with it! Thank you for reading my rant and I hope you see my point of view, be sure and comment below with your thoughts on the subject.

Thanks Shannon, definitely a great idea to narrow your focus. This is the whole idea behind writing a niche blog essentially. I tend to overdo things much too often, and its much better to have a little success than watch your extreme efforts blow up in your face ;)

I read a similar post on SaveAndMake.com over a year ago and that spurred me to start SabrinasMoneyMatters.com, most recently, and a more exciting project is MouthyGirl.com that is my labor of love…great post!

Staying focused and enduring the cycles is hard to do. That is why you must be passionate about what you are doing. Sometimes it’s only the passion that gets you through.

I am spending a lot of time thinking about this very subject. Ideas pop into my head in the middle of the night and the next morning I fail to act on them. You are right…just go and do it and stop following the crowd

I think this is the first test of what your made of and how much determination you have to see it through the dark times. Dry times happen. Innovate and execute and never second guess yourself, to never do anything is a total loss, to fail and learn is a step in the right direction. Thanks for the wonderful post letting us all know that all of us often experience these situations. +1

I always thought about the same thing, that we should not try to get many things done at once without focusing on note thing in particular. In the end, this causes all of your blogs to fail and blame it on something else.

Hello guys, glad the majority of you like my post.

As to kellex and Chris Jacobson, not sure what you mean by Fly-By seeing as how I have guest posted on bigger blogs then this one already in Marketing-Pilgrim and JohnChow!

I am here for the long run and you can bet on that, every post I make on my own blog is about stuff I have been through myself.

Hope to see you all there as well and God Bless everyone!

Thanks once again for allowing me to guest post!

im a newbie to this blogging game and i totally agree, the key is to create an idea, work at it and stay focused! my problem is i tend to have too many ideas that pull me in 20 different directions, then i start getting sidetracked and spread myself too thin and all my ideas become 1/2 ass jobs…GOTTA STAY FOCUSED

A kingdom is never built in a day, as the saying goes.

A dream is easy to made, crafting it to become a reality is the difficult part.

Once in a while a post like this helps to wake my idea up. It’s a wake up call to me to work on my idea and keep the focus still.

I was doing exactly what you speak of and getting no where. I would start 10 projects and never get any of them really rolling and to their true potential. What made me stand up and take notice was I would NEVER operate like this in my offline professional life, where what has made me successful was originating and initiating successful promotions from beginning to end and seeing them through. So i took a step back and decided to employ the same gameplan for my online life. For example the current project I am working on I have a 2 month development plan before I launch it or even reveal it publicly. That way I have done my homework and am truly prepared to give the project the 100% effort it deserves.

That is the biggest mistake I see people making. they are working on 20 different online projects at once and none are really “home run” ideas and all suffer. Really mapping out a well thought out game plan outline for action is the way to go with any project you start IMO.
