It’s Our Birthday And We Brag If We Want To!

Happy birthday to us, happy birthday to us, happy birthday silly cows, happy birthday to us! Yay!
It’s been a month since we’ve started our little blog and even though we didn’t have any expectations of what results we’d have after 30 days, we’re quite proud in a humble way :D We love to brag and so we’ll reveal July’s stats in this post! Before we do that, we’d like to thank every single one of you that has commented, subscribed or guest posted with us. We’re happy to have you here!

Now, on with the show..we’ll start with what we feel is the most awesomest achieved achievement, which are the traffic stats.

screenshot.jpg

  • Unique Visitors – 67,457 of which nearly 50k with a little help from an article on Digg. Who banned our user account. Again.
That’s still around 18,000 visitors that found us in our first month without Digg!
  • Pageviews – 377,332 which is about 4,75 per visit. Before Digg it was 10,97 per visit.
  • Bandwidth Used – 16,92GB. Thats about 25 Divx movies we could have downloaded instead.
  • Google Searches – The top 5 key phrases that brought us visitors via Google: John Cow , John Chow, johncow , win a ps3, john chow dot com.
Do a search on Google for John Chow, guess who’s on the first page. (make sure you sign out of Google, otherwise you will get personalized results).
  • Technorati Stats – 9,665. We have landed in the top 10k! It’s very possible, you can too!
  • Alexa Stats – 62,262. Our Digg spike hasn’t been updated yet.
  • Community Members – 387. We just missed the 400 mark here..oh well, we should have tried harder!
  • Blog Stats – There are currently 74 posts and 2,019 comments, contained within 13 categories.
  • RSS Subscribers – We had a peak of 249 yesterday which means we probably have more subscribers than that. FeedBurner doesn’t show the actual subscribers, it shows the amount of subscribers that have actually opened our feed within a 24 hour period.

feedburner.jpg

There you have it boys and girls, all the fresh facts for the statistic freaks served on a hot blog. Guess it’s now time to fess up how much money we’ve made huh? We bet there’s a few eager commenting beavers out there just dying to see how large their 50% ad revenue cut exactly is. Did anyone take notice of who had the most comments yesterday before the plugin automagically reset itself? We believe it was either cooliojones or Mr KingKong. Anyways, here’s the breakdown of our July earnings on JohnCow dot Com!

  • Google Adsense – $39,47. Guess what, dairy and soya ads don’t really pay that well! Fortunately the last few days we’ve seen better ads since people are buying adspace with us via AdWords
  • AuctionAds/TTZ Media – $35,63. We ran with AuctionAds the first week and a half. John Chow then kindly offered us a membership with his elite TTZMedia Network. They’re the ads you see at the end of each post. We can’t tell how much we’ve made with them because we kinda messed up our registration which John is currently sorting out for us.
  • Amazon – $2,43. Yeah well, they’re out of the picture. Waste of space and bandwidth if you ask us.
  • Reviews – This has proven to be our biggest earner. Cutting out the middle man, reviewme.com we are asking $200 instead of John’s $400 for a review. We managed to sell 3 reviews and on top of that, leverage this blogs popularity to sell 2 cheaper reviews on one of our other blogs. Total earnings with reviews: $800! We’d love to review your site too!
  • Milk Received – $15. We nearly forgot this one! 5 people were kind enough to buy us some milk!
  • Other Income – Our fantastic hosting provider, Micfo.com has not only given us $500 to give away in our moo-tastic cowpetition. They are currently also our main sponsor with the banner you see on top. We are running on a brand spanking new dedicated server worth $175 per month!

We should have really signed up for Kontera to be cool like John, but we just couldn’t be bothered. With the amount of visitors we’ve had, that surely would have added up another $100 at least.

Total earnings for July: $1067,53.

Cutting the $77,53 ad revenue in half for the top commentator… $38,75. Now we honestly didn’t see if cooliojones or Mahdi had the most comments, so can those two please tell us which one of you won? Otherwise we’ll either split it between you guys or donate the money to charity.

There you have it, our first month online and the statistics that come with it. We bet John Chow didn’t make this much in his first month! With Google updating the pagerank this week, we’re wondering how much the end of August will bring us. By the looks of it, we’ve had over 7000 uniques already this month!

  1. t John Cow setup a new blog now and divert traffic over? I mean, I would have done that if I were in his shoes. That’s a lot better than just losing all the traffic especially when he has just posted a healthy $1067.53 earnings last month. Well, lets see what happens within the next few days. Don’t be surprise if all this is just an evil masterplan. [IMG  ] Share This [IMG ]Subscribe feed — Related Articles at TenthOfMarch.com:

  5. 7 babes with a new blog, but surely all you guys and gals want is more information on how to make money online, right? Well today we don’t have any. No outrageous scandals to gossip about either. Nothing tobrag about, no silly photos to post. There’s not even something to LIE about! How sad is that? 6. finally lower that number to $80 at which we were still not sure if we wanted to spent so much money on just a domain. After our first month online it was obvious we made the right decision in paying the $80 for John Cow dot Com. We ended up with over$1000 in earningsin that month! We’re taking things as they come and day by day. There’s little to no planning involved in the blog since we’re what you call impulsive bloggers. We don’t claim to be experts in SEO, PPC, eCPM and more of those fancy acronyms but

  7. One Grand for a first month is awesome. Good job. I wonder how much in Adwords you bought this month?

  8. That’s great!

And with the PR update going on now(see my blog), you will make more next month. Cutting the middle man for reviews did work well for you for a new blog.

How much did you get from the “Pasteurized Sites”?

    Keep it up!

Awesome stats!! Simply awesome. Can’t wait until the end of this month so you tell us what different you did, what you added and took away, what difference it might have made, and what programs appear to be worth their weight in gold.

I’m stepping up advertising as well. Big things are coming to da Hustle, so stay tuned! By the way, a last count I had 199 comments, just one away from 200. :( That has to be a monthly record…well, maybe not because of all the people who comment daily over @ the big beef himself!

  16. Fatgadget says:

Well done Mr Moo, that is very impressive in the first month, in terms of both traffic and revenue.

I noticed you mentioned that the visits you go from digg didn’t show on Alexa.

How long does it take them to take these into account ?, as I had 23,000 visitors from digg on the 2nd of June and they are still not showing up on Alexa.

Anyway congratulations on your firts month as a Dot Com Moogul, keep up the good work

    Hey Bob aka John Cow,

I use Firefox when I am at home so I never saw this until now. At work, apparently all the computers are dinosaurs and they still use IE6, your sidebar loads incorrectly below all the posts at the very bottom of the site on its own. I am guessing it shows up okay on IE7. The big beef’s site doesn’t do that so I don’t know what’s causing it for you guys but you might want to look into it and get the issue fixed.

    • roundouts says:

Yup, I’m using IE6 at work and your side bar is at the bottom of the page. Sorry, I should have said something earlier. IE6 and screen resolution is 1024 by 768 pixels.

  27. Steven says:

Are you going to sign up for Kontera this next month then?

  28. Kontera is great, my second biggest money maker and no trouble to implement.

    • cooliojones says:

How many sites do you have running Kontera? In my experience you have to have a lot of sites or very high traffic to make it worthwhile. Do you have a combination of both?

      • Steven says:

You could always luck out and get a partnership offer from them like Chow did and make lots of money. I think his blog is the only one running kontera too but I could be wrong on that one.

  29. Cubofild says:

Is still valid to signup for Kontera via “your coupon” John in your Make Money Ebook for small traffic blogs?

    • Navjot Singh says:

I think you confused John Cow for John Chow??

      • Steven says:

LOL yeah he is. I am sure Cow is going to follow the Chow and sign up soon. As he said, he probably could of at least made another easy $100. And after this blog was made to mimic the “big beef” himself. It would be odd not to have kontera on there.

    Thanks

    Peace!

  36. Fatgadget says:

The Big Beef has just published his earnings for July, he also mentioned what he made in his first month.

You mad cows have made more in your first month than he did in his.

    • Cubofild says:

      First month revenue:

      1000$ Mad cows – 350$ John Chow

So we have almost 3 times better score!

    • Steven says:

You guys know this although the Cow made more than the Chow in their respective first month incomes, Chow was merely experimenting and did not know of all the ways he could monetized the blog till later.

In all fairness to the big beef, I think that with all the info on how to make money online spreading thanks to him sharing his info is what made it possible for the Cow to be here today. Not to say that the Cow isn’t successful because he sure is! But thats a poor way to beat down the big beef’s first month.

      • Definitely. IIRC, John just ran AdSense in his first month, and based on that, he made more. I still think this is AMAZING, because John’s first month of monetization came years after having another successful website, and having the blog up and running.

  37. Maybe if we can’t decide on who was 1st in comments or if there was a tie we should just go to the guy with 3rd most comments (ME)

    Great blog Cow

  40. Cubofild says:

“We had a peak of 249 yesterday which means we probably have more subscribers than that.” , i see 242 in feed burner right now, what could be a reason for that – ?

    • Steven says:

There are always a set number of people that will fall on and off, kind of a like a plus/minus a certain amount you can always bet on that will fluxuate. I personally think some of these people subscribe to random sites to steal content without ever actually look at the site OR they subscribe out of a whim and decide later its not for them. I would say losing 10 one day and gaining 10 another would seem normal.

    • I was just checking out your site, and I really like the format, and the design. I think it is just one of those niches that takes a long time to penetrate, and then once you do, you’re reaching people who are very active in your blogging community, so it just explodes.

  54. It’s always harder to sell without a visible PR. In my experience it’s better to wait rather than fix people in at a lower price becuase of lower PR.

  55. Enkay Blog says:

I think thats true. I monetized my site from the beginning but what happens is that when you monetize early on and if you have good content then by the time your PR is updated and you are ready for selling a review, people recognize your blog more. But I guess the same can be said for a non-monetized site with great content.

  56. Cubofild says:

    I think cooliojones(and that second) won only 38.75$ not 500$ !?!

” Cutting the $77,53 ad revenue in half for the top commentator… $38,75. ”

  57. Steven says:

I think it would be $77.53 divided in half would be $38.76. If Mahdi actually tied with Cooliojones, that would be another split down to $19.38 each, assuming they both did tie at 199 comments.

  58. Enkay Blog says:

yup, its half of the ad earnings, thats still not bad, 20 bucks for commenting!

  59. cooliojones says:

Trust me, I won’t be quitting my day job anytime soon! :D

  60. Steven says:

LOL, I hope not, that $20-ish is good enough for food though (speaking of which, I am getting hungry

  61. mahdi yusuf says:

true that! :D 20 bucks isn’t bad though!

    Thanks

  64. John Cow says:

Well in that case we’ll add you to the next batch. We do get a lot of email and sometimes misplace them.

  65. Steven says:

LOL, thats a good one =]

  66. Steven says:

Not sure what it is but I’ve been noticing a lot of other blogs that are either having this same problem with the sidebar or some that are actually having this problem with their main post, where the post falls down quote a bit in IE6 but everything looks fine on FF and IE7. I am sure that Mr. Cow will get this message and fix the issue soon enough =]

  67. I will be so happy when IE6 finally dies. It makes every web designer’s life at work a living hell. ;)

  68. Steven says:

Is there a policy where you can only run either Adsense or YPN but not both at the same time. I think I read that somewhere on someone else’s blog.
