I Can Has Linkbaitz?
| Share |
It’s the bomb this summer. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you blog about, 90% of the bloggers out there have tried or succeeded in creating a nice piece of link-bait. Some people have even accused us of having an entire blog that functions as one big link bait! Using cows for link-bait, yeah right! Since the blogosphere is one huge online popularity contest, bloggers are always looking for a scoop, a unique article that will make other bloggers elbow each other in the face, trying to be the first in line to blog about it and link to it. You never know, some of the link-baiter’s popularity might rub off on your own blog!

Popularity means traffic and traffic means mooney. So what do you do? Chances are you’ll never find something hot online and be the first to write about it. Others are way ahead of you. What you do is create your own hot gossip! Lets for example do a top 10/50/100 list on something everyone is interested in. Yeah, who’s who in the world of money making blogs? Lets do a top 100 of money makers! It’ll take a bit of time to create it, then we need to make sure all the top blog players are informed that they’ve made it to the top100. Use their ego and vanity to our advantage!
It’s that simple, really. Bloggers are everyday people that will react to certain things the same way your IRL (in real life) everyday friends do. They’ll be more than happy to tell someone else that they got complimented about their new car or haircut. People’s vanity can be channeled into a very powerful tool. All you need to to is make sure you tell the great how great they are and you’ll most likely reap the benefits of your sucking up.
(P.S Thanks again for including us in the list Mark, we love you!)

The last portion of the stat shows the graph falling down steeply. You need to make such interesting posts regularly to maintain the stats at that level.
That’s not really the point of linkbaiting. It’s more to get a boost of traffic, once it dies down again, you’ll more than likely have a higher amount of steady traffic after the spike.
It is about building new daily readers as well as a one time spike. I check it every other day at the moment, when I had not heard of it prior.
That’s why a blogger should make his blog worth reading before thinking to make a linkbait like 45n5
Mai blogz haz flavur.
Not haz linkbaitz.
It was a good way to get your name out there. I still don’t understand why they put shoe so high up since his money isn’t made with his blog.
