Then don't write about your product. Write about something that people that need your product want to hear about, something they find useful. It only needs to be in the same category as what you sell (so that it's relevant). It doesn't need to be about your product specifically. Then, after you've established yourself as a resource, when people do need your product, they'll remember how helpful you were.

I am agree with you. But there is a problem for me, how to write something about our product without showing that we want to sell that product ? sometime i get stuck with it.

While this is true, isn't the fact that you give information that they are looking for most important? This probably means doing your research and making sure you are giving unique and valuable content to your readers. Free e-books can help with this but I would like to think media like this blog falls into that category too.

I like your comments about stopping always trying to sell. I call it the "get rid of it" syndrome, and it afflicts way too many businesses.

Think of it a moment. If our focus is always on "How can I get rid of my product and get somebody to give me money for it?" how is that going to affect the way our customers perceive the solutions we offer?

That "get rid of it" attitude is going to seep into our communication with our potential customers. It's going to cheapen what we offer in their eyes. Better to focus on the value of what we offer rather than thinking in terms of how to get rid of them.

I understand the whole "become the expert" thing, but I think it's flawed, too. I don't think we have to be THE EXPERT.

What we are is solution providers. That gets around the whole thing of everybody running around screaming, "I'm the expert! I'm the expert!" It puts the focus back where it belongs: on solving the customers' problems.

I agree with you Karsten H., Everyone IS an expert at something. Life is a melting pot. Different views, different perspectives from billions of different people. No two people are alike and No two people see the world exactly the same. It is this diversity that is bringing social marketing to the top on the Net today. So, if you're going to discuss a thing, make sure it's a thing you are well versed in and passionate about. By doing so, you will bring value to all of us here and you will build value for your brand, Yourself.

I agree that most of this information is correct....hypotheticallly speaking. However, people are getting tired of every single person in a niche being "the expert". What I do agree with is that the way you really become the expert is by not trying to BE anybody but YOURSELF. More and more, people are wanting to see feeling and personal touches to content in a time where automated responses and content are on the rise.

Advertising isn't effective anymore, instead people are looking for people they can trust when looking for information. Great Post!

Great article. It is important to establish yourself as a trusted expert. As you mentioned, the best way to do that is to give people useful informaiton. If you educated instead of sell them, they'll listen. Having worked as a journalist, editor and public relations consultant, I've found that the media is a powerful tool for establishing yourself as an expert and a respected leader in your field. Once you’re featured in an article or a TV segment you are the news. Also, the media likes to find experts they can rely on, so if you work on cementing a relationship with them, changes are they’ll go back to you as other pertinent stories arise. You can then use that media exposure to further establish you as a trusted expert.

Very funny and nice of you to write about this too. A trustworthy person should not look like a casual and informal guy. A name is respected to hear. Try improving your personality and aura in facing your students. That's what I do too. Let me show you how I can help you: http://www.internetbusinesspath.com/internet-business/how-can-i-help-your-e-commerce-business
