Just playing devils advocate here but consider this: People that have negative experiences are going to be the most vocal about it. On the flipside, if I found a "golden egg" so to speak - why would I tell you...

I have been of a member of WWB since 2005. I paid my one time fee and within weeks I was selling items for profit through Ebay and my own website. I only purchase the items from my suppliers when I have completed a purchase. Joining WWB with my one time fee, was the best decision I made to help grow the dropship portion of my business. I easily made my investment back within weeks. Don't get me wrong, I had to do a lot of work to get my sites up and running, WWB isn't turnkey. They simply qualifies each and every business they list.

There are numerous different types of dropshippers listed. Some will require minimum buys. Others will charge a small handling fee ($4 - $5)/transaction. WWB does a great job of categorizing each dropshipper so you know exactly what the requirements will be in advance. All of the dropshippers will require that you have a TAX ID # to start. The dropshippers actually have to approve your application (you'll need some kind of e-commerce sight or in some cases, brick and mortar as well). You don't have to "stock up" if you don't want the risk, you'll just have to find a dropshipper who doesn't require an initial order (there are plenty to choose from).

If you're convinced that dropshipping is a scam, then I highly recommend you take advantage of the free offer and check out what WWB is all about. If you're not interested in dropshipping, don't bother. But if you're the slightest bit interested, I strongly recommend WWB.

Besides.......would Jason steer you wrong?

Unfortunately, I, too, am considering the dropshipping route. If, however you talk to most Ebay sellers, they really dis dropshipping. Stay clear at all costs, in other words. I have never heard from anyone who is using dropshipping successfully. I can't find legitimate testimonials from users of WWB or Simplx or Doba -- all claiming to be the major source for Ebay sellers, etc. Even you, Kathy, really don't have any kind of success story to relay. I would like someone out there in cyberspace to offer up proof that dropshipping works.

Hi Walt,

Unfortunately due to the current recession, I've had to put my ecommerce plans on hold. However, I've researched around 200 product lines from different drop shippers and can tell you that they won't be included within the WWB database unless they are reputable and legitimate.

With drop shipping, you are doing very little in the way of storage, packing and shipping. You can't expect to have a huge profit margin, BUT, you don't have to buy XX quantities of something and hope they sell. If you offer a product via drop shipping and no-one buys it, you haven't made a loss. You only pay the drop shipper when something is shipped. As I said previously, drop shippers who want to charge a monthly fee are most likely other retailers who are on selling, and you can't make a profit that way.

With major brand name products like ipod nanos, you have no hope of selling them through drop shippers as they are sold in bulk to companies like WalMart who through their buying power, buy them at a fraction of what you or I would pay. Buying in bulk means you pay less per item, but you are then responsible for storage, packing and shipping and if the item doesn't sell for some reason, you are out of pocket and left with boxes of whatever that no-one wants. Drop shipping has lower profit margins but much less risk.

I hope this helps. I'm really looking forward to the world economy picking up. I'll be ready with my stores.

It would be interesting to hear if Kathy above has had actual success using this model. I'm making no judgements either pro or con. I would be interested to review some success stories however.

My thoughts are in the same lines as Earn Money Online. It doesn't seem a viable business option. Anyone around who has tried out drop shipping?

I am a member of World Wide Brands and they are the 'real deal' when it comes to suppliers. You cannot sign up with a drop shipper or light bulk supplier without being 'legal', having all your tax details and company names etc done properly. Any company that offers to drop ship goods and wants a monthly membership fee is another retailer and most probably a scam artist. WWB has huge lists of companies they recommend. The drop shippers I've researched through WWB charge a small fee (around $2 on average). However, some people (above) have made up their mind without knowing the facts. Their loss.

I really would like to get into the drop shipping game but have heard so many bad things about it. The company you are recommending ... they are not associated with Tom Bosley are they? he was great on Happy Days, but I heard the company he was the front man for (what 2 or 3 years ago) all they did was rob you blind nothing but scammers. Can't afford that in these times.

Drop shipping can be a very profitable business. Over the past few days I been doing research on which niche to pick, putting together a budget, and which software to use.

To build and run a successful drop shipping website, one must do all research and find a reliable drop shipper. Most of all stay in contact with your drop shipper, build a relationship, and get better deals on your products as your business grow.

As far as I am concerned, I have read too many complains on drop shipping sites although not exactly WWBrands. I am not sure I have the confidence to have a business like this.

No, I have never tried it and I dont think that I will pay for accessing those sites. I am basing my assumptions by logic economic principles. If your budget to buy a product let's say an ipod nano is 50 000$ USD - you will get a much better price then if you came with say 2 000 dollars, and yet if you buy one single product of that then nobody will have the TIME and effort to give you the product for same discount price.

My theory is that with drop shipping you COULD get a slight discount, and with monthly fee of access you COULD make a thin cut of profit but also could loose a bit of money if you don't sell.

+ another reason that I am skeptical is that all the drop shipping websites ive been looking, you can sometimes browse their market place but they wont show you prices unless you sign up with your credit card.

Like I said I've never tried it but the reason of I hear many complaints about drop shipping is that drop shipping doesn't escape economic principles of law and demand. John Cow if you HAVE been using drop shipping then please tell us some more info on your personal experiences, how much you buy/sell of a product, etc. I am skeptical because of reasons mentioned, however I am open minded and would like to hear more about it if you have any info

Drop shipping doesn't work well for a simple reason: it is not real wholesale - large wholesale companies will not be willing to sell you a single little product for the same price as that product in packs of 10 thousand + .... Simple economic principles, and that's why drop shipping profit margins are way too small, or you could even be loosing money because most of those drop shipping websites require you a monthly fee for access
