Get Lost!

We’ve been busy setting up a nice little site again, just because we were bored. This time we had a look at what interests people on the net around the world, and it seems TV shows are a big thing these days. If you missed last night’s episode, and you’re stuck in the office where you can’t download it without your boss giving you the evil eye - why not watch the show from a free stream?

That’s exactly what we had in mind when we created this spiffy new website where you can watch lost online.
watchlostonline.jpg

We chose Wordpress for several reasons;

  • We’re used to it and find it very easy to set up and maintain.
  • It’s very SEO friendly, something that matters a lot if you want to be found with a site like this.
  • There’s tons of plugins available to make the site even more SEO friendly.
  • There’s also tons of free themes available, to give the site a bit of branding.

We’re looking into doing this for some of the other big tv shows too if this experiment proves to be worthwhile.

Anyway, that was our shameless self-plug for this week. Hope you will enjoy the new lost season 4 online! We’ll leave you with this youtube clip, that has nothing to do with lost, we got from someone who told us there’s a revolution coming in making money online

I think this was a very smart idea! People are way into some tv series now, and want the opportunity to see old episodes, and chat with others who are into the show as well. I have to say, I am kind of jealous that I did not think of this myself.

That is funny that you mention this. I have a domain name that I have been sitting on for a few months now, Television Show Blog dot Com. It’s not online or anything like that, but with the writer strike being over and shows going full force again, it might not be a bad idea to push forward on that project.

Not an original idea, but definitely some money in it. Good luck with it!

Interesting idea. I have often streamed shows online lately.

Just curious, but do you have a plan in place for diverting traffic from ABC.com where they already show the lost episodes with commercial sponsorship?

The ABC.com Web player is pretty popular and high in search results. Can a WordPress blog with SEO hope to overcome that to be one of the higher results? or are you shooting for more of a word of mouth movement?

This is an interesting idea. Any other ideas to monetize other than adsense?

Also, I think it critically needs a “Email Me When The Next Episode Is Up” option. Easily done with an RSS Email Submit. But if it were me, I would go with something a little more robust. Awebber or OneShoppingcart maybe as an auto responder. That way you can send them other emails, about new shows being launched. And possibly other affiliate options (”Put Lost on your iPod. Buy Here” type email).

But it’s def. an interesting start. Good luck!

Nice one, Cow. Do you think that you will come across any copyright issues or only the video uploading site will be liable?

wannabeMogul: the ABC streams are only available to people in the US. The rest of the world can’t run them.

Good for me ‘cos I get Lost on TV about three weeks after the show airs and my net speed is too slow for torrents!

Awesome idea. Lost is one of the best shows ever. I do not think that I have ever been into a show this much. With intertube technology it is getting so easy now-a-day to stream high quality content. I see in the future that cable companies will no longer be needed to promote TV shows. I think it will all be done online. Same with music and upcoming artists. Great job, thanks.

Like the others said, great idea. Only caveat is probably the legality of it in terms of copyright.

A great idea and if you’re monitor is pointing the right way you can always watch it on your lunch with some ear phones plugged in. Nice idea.

I’d planned to do something similar but then a UK company that didn’t host content, only linked to it was busted by the cops. It’s still to go through the courts yet but I’m wary. Still free streaming is huge, if you want to expand on it then I still own the domain http://www.onlinetv.im that I bought, just drop me a line if you’re interested.

To Cow: other big shows are… Prison Break, House, Gericho, The Closer, 24, SmallVille.
You’d do well with those I am sure… the writers are just coming off strike here, so people will be wanting to catch up on the last few episodes from last year prior to seeing new ones!
Get on it man!
