Discover the Google Adwords Account Slap Solution That Will Save Your Ass!

A little over a week ago the IM forums all over the net came alive with yells of panic due to Google terminating numerous accounts of what appeared to be legitimate users.

The reasons???

Well, we can only speculate but it appears that accounts that promoted email zip submits and get rich quick schemes seemed to get a huge percentage of the punishment and it is too much of a coincidence that the new FTC regulations came into effect around the same time.

The brutal thing of this entire thing is the irony of why Google is doing it. They are claiming it is for helping to create a better user experience for their surfers… which is cool but… kicking the people that actually pay the bills in the face is creating a pretty shtty user experience from my point of view. I mean I am cool with an account getting terminated as long as there is a clear explanation… but Google is saying nothing.

The user experience for the advertiser is pretty much… thanks for all the money you gave me but screw off now we don’t like you.

So what are you to do…. give up?

First of all the motto I use is…

KEEP MOVING FORWARD!

What is your goal… is it to spend $100,000 on Adwords?

I’m thinking not.

Is it to have the most effective converting Adwords campaign possible?

Mmmm… again probably not.

If you are like me, your goal is to make a specific amount of money and there are still loads of ways to do it and you just need to sit back and figure out which ones you want to use.

Yes you can keep paying for traffic, there are numerous other PPC networks that work very well and you can do media buys, PPV and more but why continue just paying for one-time traffic?

Did not this recent slap prove to you that once your paid source dies… so does your traffic –> INSTANTLY!

This is why I absolutely love SEO and organic traffic generation.

The bottom line is it is not Adwords or media buys that make you money… its traffic and I absolutely kick ass at getting traffic from search engines and the social web. The reason I kick ass is…

1. It’s fun!

Ya, I love figuring out new ways to do, new tricks and new resources to use.

2. It’s a huge source of my income

If I want to continue in the life style I have, I pretty much have to stay good at this. In fact my good buddy Dave West calls me Rumplestiltskin cause he can’t figure out how I can sit in my office at home and spin gold like I do.

3. I have a solid network of friends

I have gotten more amazing tips and help from my customers and members than anyone else. Since I started PotalFeeder back in 2005 with Jason Potash and Marc Quarles, I have had the privilege of working with some of the most intelligent minds in the business and have seen numerous times already where the student has become the teacher. I think of guys like Chris Fox, Dean Caporella and Richard Henderson who signed up to learn from me, took what I taught and have created themselves 5 figure monthly incomes… and now teach me regularly.

4. I have awesome programmers

There is a lot of work involved with generating traffic from non paid services and thankfully I have a powerful team of programmers that understand how i think and know how to take the problem I give them and figure out how to make either an automated or semi-automated solution.

5. It’s a challenge

The rules of the game are always changing… ALWAYS. That means I always have to try to stay up to date and as much as possible… a head of the curve. I am always building and testing… testing and building… and the end result… I can say with complete confidence… I Know My Shit!

  1. Yap, I looked into this “Google Slap” thing in more detail, because it did affect a lot of people. But when I ignored the hysteria and looked at the facts, it seemed that Google was rewarding high-quality Web sites and penalizing low-quality Web sites.

And isn’t that a good thing? After all, when you’re searching for something in Google, wouldn’t you be happy to find a high-quality Web site with lots of relevant content, rather than a sales letter, an advertisement, or just a survey page?

  2. Seo is the better and cost effective way to go anyway. As learning adwords took some time. Learning seo will be a learning task to tackle as well. But for anyone still wanting to continue with Google adwords after getting the “Google Slap” should change the address and maybe card number you were using for your account. If that’s different Google will set-up another account for you.

Now I’m not promoting bad quality sites. Make sure your site is relevant and has good content. Learn from this lesson and most importantly, diversify your traffic streams. Take this time now to watch Jason’s videos and read the pdf and you will see ranking for organic search is not as hard as it looks.

Wow I’m really impressed with the blog you’ve got here! Pretty creative, and you must get a ton of visitors to have that many RSS subscribers. Good luck with the rest of your blog, I’m sure you’re a genius at making money online

  5. The first thing on our mind is to create quality. I think that should occupy our minds, how we can benefit others, help others, inform others, and so on. I think anyone who follows such principles can hardly go wrong whichever way Google or whoever swings.

I think they mainly slapped affiliate sites and squeeze pages. I prefer seo because it is long term. It takes a bit of effort but does’nt everything that is worth achieving?

I’ve already pulled my ad spend from Google temporarily until things blow over. With 20-year-olds just out of college at Google making the decisions to ban accounts “for life” at their choosing, it’s not worth taking the chance. Google has to be prepared for a lot of people like me doing the same. Fortunately, my sole source of traffic has never been AdWords, so I can easily cancel Google without notice as well. :)

  12. Jeromy says:

    Hey JC,

I see Web2mayhem is launched. I imagine this service would help. I want to join, I really do, but I have been unemployed for awhile and I just don’t have a lot of funds.

I just recieved an email today on some ‘tighting of the belt” for Google. It sounds as though this is going to make the playing field harder. It seems to me that what is happening is Google is trying to “clean up” their web results, both organic and PPC. It means nothing for those that have already been doing a pro job. But it will likely bury most “half ass” sites and campaigns.

It is interesting to watch the evolution of Google, it has become such a beast! Today I will be trying to talk myself into tightening my own belt and finding the cash to get Web2Mayhem before the doors close again.

    Cheers,

  13. This is why list building is a better business module now then it ever was before. It is well worth to invest into SEO and articles than to pay Google forever.

  14. Audio Books says:

I’d like to add to the discussion here on Organic vs Paid traffic that Google’s decisions have consequences that can affect both of these areas, since Google plays the game on both sides of the same coin.

For example, I’ve noticed that since all this new round of slapping has begun, my AdSense income has dropped a little, but my Clickbank income has increased slightly.

I am only speculating at this stage, but it could turn out to be that one of the potential benefits of this latest round of Google “improvements” on the PPC side if they are targeting affiliate sites and affiliate landing pages, is that the pages on some of my blogs that feature both Clickbank product reviews and AdSense in the sidebars will not be competing as much with visitors for the opportunity to sell the same product, if some of the affiliate ads that were previously showing on the page via AdSense are no longer showing because the advertisers’ Adwords account were terminated.

Again, this is all theoretical speculation as I haven’t yet got any significant data results to support this, but if the net effect of Google’s changes mentioned above were indeed to happen, then losing out on a few cents from AdSense clicks but making dollars on sales of the same affiliate product organically is not a bad trade off at all.

  15. Don says:

I do believe if you try to create a site with passion people will be passionate about your site. Diversity will play a role but your audience will be discovered in time. The whole process of success is founded on a solid foundation.

Weak sites with no redeeming social value will suffer under the blows of the Google Hammer.

Get Rich Slick plans (sites) often go quickly away and what is left are the sites with true value.

    Note to self:

Be extremely cheap, that way you will work harder on good organic traffic.

I’ve always been a fan of natural search traffic over PPC. Probably because it’s free and enjoy learning how to get more of it.

I actually agree with Google on their decision to terminate accounts; although, I don’t agree with the way they went about doing it. Advertisers need to provide quality, useful content on landing pages. That’s really what Google wants, and ultimately, will provide a better user experience for everyone.

  20. I’m not to big on adwords because of their strick guidelines but I know that google is luccrative because some folks are really making a ton of money from advertising with them. Their are loopholes to get around the google crap’ but you have to invest time in learning ppc techniques. Personally I think free traffic always win lol!!! Great Blog Post!
