Are you able to take little things and convince yourself and others that they were much bigger then they actually were and that was the cause of a specific failure?

I know people with the “self talk” mindset believe that…

There are no failures… just learnings!

My reply to that is… BULL!!!

Now I am not going to argue here but if you are making up excuses and “KNOWINGLY” doing things to inhibit progress (whether it is your health, family, business… anything) then you are failing.

Here is exactly why I feel this way.

One definition of failure is…

“An event that does not accomplish its intended purpose”

So… lets say you buy a 6-month membership at a health-club and the purpose of that is to get into better shape. 6 months later your membership runs out and you look back and realize you went 3 times, your health is actually worse and the reason you did not go was because you hated going but you decided that it was easier to come up with excuses like “I was too busy”.

Well.. in my books… YOU FAILED to achieve what you intended to accomplish.

Did you learn something… ya I am sure you did… that you are good at convincing yourself you are busier then everyone else.

If you take the mindset that there are no failures… then you are fooling yourself.

The thing to realize however is… does that mean failures are bad?

NO… not if you can take that failure… figure out what went wrong… learn from it (this is where most stop)… and do something about it.

A failure is bad if you just keep repeating the process over and over again… such as constantly renewing your membership but never using it… that’s just stupid. After all the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results.

OK… so now lets talk about me and my advice as to how to help fight this issue.

Whether you agree something is a failure or not is really up to you… as my dad says… “read another book”.

What that means is you are perhaps believing something because someone in a book said so… well then read another book that says something else. Oh and ya… This is just my side of it

The truth is I hate failure… I hate the word… and I hate the feeling it gives. Often times this causes deeper issues, such as paralysis of progression, which means you are so afraid of failure you do nothing. This is why (in my opinion) the whole “there is no such thing as failure” came about. To get people to stop looking at it as a failure and paralyzing themselves but the word exists and it has a definition and therefore is true… yes failure exists.

BUT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A FAILURE!

Here is the kicker… yes it exists but it is 100% in your power to make something a bad failure or a good failure… and more important that you take that failure and implement something to prevent it again.

So now you are asking me…

“Jason, what is the fit challenge that I hear you talking about?”

I workout at a great gym here in my local northern community called Catalyst Fitness (check it out at http://www.catalystgym.com/) and it uses a CrossFit training system that is like nothing I have done before and you can visit the site to learn more about that.

I joined with the intent of getting back into shape, because sitting on my butt all day in front of my computers is not very active, and about 4 weeks ago (during the Web2Mayhem launch) I stopped. My excuse… no time.

Was it a valid excuse?

Nope… yes, I was busy but funny how I still made time to do a few other things that were way less important. If I was so busy then I would have had no time to do anything except work, eat, sleep, and be with my kids, and yet I did have time for a few other things.

The truth is, I just didn’t want to. Yes, there was one day that I really was too busy, but the next 3 weeks, nope… I was just making up excuses.

Before I continue, I need to know… CAN YOU RELATE?

Have you been in that exact same situation, whether it is a gym, a business, a volunteer position… anything. My gut tells me that 99% of you are going to say yes.

So… was this a failure?

NO, it was a stumble… If I gave up and never intended to learn from this and do something, then yes it would be a failure… but I want this!

So what I did is I went to the gym and handed my trainer Chris Cooper (that’s him in the picture) a hundred bucks and told him that is for him to make sure he calls me every time I have a scheduled workout and make sure I get there. I needed someone to hold me accountable and that someone had to be someone that I respected.

What Chris did instead is set up a challenge for me.. he said that every work out I miss he is going to donate the money to a charity that I do NOT believe in and will put the donation in my name. I am not sharing which one it is but I can say with certainty… they are not getting my money. If after 4 weeks I have not missed (or made up) any of the workouts… the money goes to the charity of my choice.

My results?

Well it has only been a week but I can say that the motivation and accountability is fantastic. Not only am I accountable to someone but also there is a circumstance that happens as a result of my decisions.

So why do I share this long ramble?

You are in a brand new year… you have goals and you want this to be a year that is better then ever for you. If you want the best chance you can at achieving success, then figure out how you can create an accountability system for yourself. But make sure you set something up that has outcomes based on results and motivates you. Yes, it would be amazing if the idea of being in great shape was motivation enough, but that is not the case… it isn’t and as a result I needed to figure out something else to help.

What goals do you have this year that you NEED to be held accountable for?

What are you going to do about it?

It’s because there is so much bull crap out there and deception that something had to be done.

Whether it is fake blogs that adjust their message based on your IP address or fake testimonials… people are sick of being deceived. It has gotten to the point that no one is wanting to believe anything anymore and I dont blame anyone for feeling that way.

The fact is, if you want to know the truth… if you want to see through the bullshit, then the only option is to go directly to the source and find out for yourself.

By doing this, the product owner only has two options…

Answer the questions truthfully

Lie and let the FTC deal with them.

The reason I want to mention that is because as you know or soon will know, Amish Shah is coming out with a brand new product called “The Magic Bullet System” (No this is nothing to do with the blender) and from what I can tell so far, Amish is going to be giving public access to the exact custom tools and system he uses to earn over $14000 a day in revenue.

There is going to be a price tag with this of course but you must admit it almost sounds too good to be true.

Now before I continue, I want to make it very clear that I do not know Amish Shah… I know of him and have heard many times his name mentioned from guys like Gauher Chaudrey (someone I respect very much) and because of that I wanted to see what he was all about. I was very impressed with the free video he put out last week and if you have not seen it…

STOP RIGHT NOW and CLICK HERE and check the video out.

I promise that once you watch it you will understand why I was impressed.

But after hearing what this product was suppose to be and how amazing it sounded… I had some concerns.

If this thing does what it sounds like, I can tell you right now I am signing up but I have to admit that I am even skeptical. So, i took a chance, pulled some strings and was able to get an interview scheduled with Amish.

The reason for this interview is because I want to understand what this is all about… I don’t want to be sucked in by the presales stuff, yes this looks promising but I want to talk to Amish.

Thankfully I have a little clout in this industry ( a very minuscule amount but it seemed to be enough) and I was able to get Amish to commit to an interview. He does not know me, we are not long time friends and you do not need to worry… this is not two buddies trying to bullshit anyone… Amish knows the reason for this interview is I want to get real answers about this “The Magic Bullet System“.

I have a problem though… I want to know what you want to know.

Amish has promised to give me 30 minutes… which is extremely generous considering he is in the middle of launching his product and from his last email to me confirming the time I just found out it is his birthday tomorrow also. So thanks again Amish for doing this… and in that 30 minutes he is going to answer 10 questions. I have 5 that I badly want answered but I want 5 more to ask him and I want you to give them to me… what do you want to know!!!

So this is your chance… if you have any concerns or just something you are curious about in regards to Amish Shahs’ Magic Bullet System… this is your chance to ask.

The call will be live on Tuesday, January 5th at 1:00pm Pacific and you will want to be there live for two very good reasons.

I am going to be giving away some random cash prizes to the listeners

I am going to be telling you how you can get access to something special I put together for you. I will be exposing the complete SEO campaign I have in place promoting “The Magic Bullet” and I am going to give you EVERY last detail with a flow chart and action plan of exactly what i did and how I am killing it so far all from SEO. You will be able to completely copy everything I outline and do it yourself. I promise this is going to be a killer value for you. I am going to share everything from keyword research to the plugins I am using and how I am using them. PLUS one lucky listener will win a 3 month membership to the Web2Mayhem and I can guarantee you that if you follow the outline I give and use the web2mayhem you will have a killer combination.

So.. be on the call and you could win cash plus more!

To be on the call all you have to do is go here…

http://www.AttendThisEvent.com/?eventid=10619751

Damn… if I was not hosting the call I know I would still not want to miss this.

OK, here are the 5 questions I want to ask Amish… but I need you to comment below with the #1 question you want the answer to. I realize I am going to get more then 5 but hopefully I can group a few together based on themes and I will pick the 5 best of the bunch.

The five questions I have for him to answer are…

If your system is so powerful, why are you giving public access to it… would it not be better to keep it to yourself?

You have full-time staff but what about those that don’t, how can someone just starting out make your system work?

If I am just new to IM, is your stuff too advanced… why or why not?

What is the difference between what you do and teach as compared to all the other training and tools out there?

Whats the biggest learning experience for you in regards to your online business that you think others could benefit in their own business from knowing?

Now I need 5 more from you… please take a moment and comment below with the number one question you want me to ask Amish.

PS – The call will be recorded and made available to those that can’t make it.

In the previous post I offered “general” help to anyone struggling to make money with a website due to a comment left by Jim Kelly in regards to his website http://www.ebay.internet-money.org/ebay-rules.php. You will want to check the previous post out because of two reasons…

1. Awesome comments from readers with advice for Jim and his site (very good and valuable stuff)
2. A free 20 minute podcast of me going through exactly how to help anyone make a site profitable… well maybe not exactly… how about what they should focus on to give a site the best chance possible of being profitable. No trying to sell or anything… just some good content.

… In the below video I follow up with that podcast with a visual critique of Jim’s site and what I think he needs to do ASAP to give the site a better chance at actually making some money.

Hope you enjoy it

What this means is be nice and even when you want to scream… still, just be nice.

I however do not practice that in all circumstances… and the reason is because some people are just ignorant… and so I like to be ignorant back.

Oh and YES.. I have a lesson in this.

First of all, I am not asking whether I am right or wrong here… I don’t care. This person pissed me off and well… I will explain how it is stupid to act that way.

So, I was cleaning out my emails and found a few that I missed. Because of the launch of the Web2Mayhem I got swamped with emails. Anyway one that I missed was this one…

On 09-12-25 2:47 PM, “C Cam” wrote:

This is the third time I’ve tried to download a ‘free’ product from your site
and have never received any of them. This is why I would NEVER order from your
site.

Well, I could not find any other emails asking for help from her but anyway I went and got the direct link and sent it to her. I was a little pissed at what I thought was a very negative and ignorant comment but instead of deleting I just sent the link anyway.

Alas… I messed up and the link had a w missing. So in response the email I got was this…

Thanks Jason (for trying),
A link to the same download that still doesn’t work…hmmmm.
This does not instill any more confidence in your site for me.
Thanks anyway,
C Cam

OK, now I want to stop before I move on. First of all the person said they would never order from me, so in the first place I knew I was wasting my time with this person because I am in this to make money (oh big surprise there) and this person admitted they would never buy anything from me… but I sent the link anyway but yes the link had an error in it… but hey I am a human.

So the next email she decides to add even more ignorance by saying “This does not instill any more confidence in your site for me.”

OK now why does that bother me so much?

Well for the simple reason is that people like that frustrate the hell out of me. People that sit there and immediately judge and criticize people or products without having a clue are in my opinion a waste of everyone’s energy and in my honest opinion… DO NOT WASTE A MINUTE OF YOUR DAY ON THEM!

I have been doing this full time online for a while now and every so often I get someone who is just plain and simply an asshole and it used to get under my skin a lot. I would do everything I could to try and make that person happy… but you know what… I have never made a single one of them happy. And you know what else… NOT ONE OF THEM is successful today that I know of…. NOT ONE!

OK… so I have more to this… this is where it got fun for me.

SIDE NOTE: I do not send the johncow contact form to my support team because I want to personally handle them and my support team is already busy enough… so that is why this email was missed, but hey even in support systems these get missed occasionally.

OK, so after the second email reply I was just going to delete it… after all she said she was never going to buy from me and sorry but I am not in this for charity. So I decided to be ignorant back… cause sometimes it is just fun.

So this was my reply…

Re: No download Lol, well people like you are usually those that never amount to success anyway and are huge support burdens who feel the world owes them everything. Personally I see the energy you waste on comments like that a joke cause they offer nothing positive to this world and act like you never make a mistake. The link I sent you was missing a w and it is the Christmas season so support is slow… But hey good luck with your attitude in the New Year.. Hope it makes you feel like a better person anyway.

Did I think this would cause a discussion… 100% yes and I did it on purpose cause with these kind of people it is funny… and as you keep reading you will see why.

This is the response I got back…

I was not rude to you… but rest assured I will certainly post your arrogant reply to me on my websites and twitter. May you business accounts reflect you low level of customer satisfaction. Scam websites like yours fall by the wayside on a daily basis. Your link was broken… and that is my fault how?

Thank you for your time and lack of customer service. I will be sure to pass along the wonders of John Cow.

OK so first of all…

“I was not a rude person”

Uhmm…. did you read your emails to me.. LMAO

Second of all…

“Scam websites like yours fall by the wayside on a daily basis.”

I love comments like that… ok, I have 33000+ readers on this blog, offer free content and how am I scamming again… sorry but I am missing that.

Now the lack of customer support… ya I accept that, maybe I just need to let go of handling the emails for JC but I like it.

Believe me this is drama I know… and blown out of proportion… 100% yes but it is so fun sometimes!

So I think to myself… do I waste anytime responding?

Heck yes, this is going on johncow and is fun and will make a great post

So I respond with this…

Re: No download Lol… Scam websites… I have been online doing legitimate business for years. Actually after today’s already scheduled post I had planned, don’t worry I was going to post about your email anyway, cause I want to show people how people that are negative expect the world to fall at their feet and treat people with no respect and as a result get no respect back.

You see I have over 200 000 double opt in subscribers that trust me and many who have been my paying customers (some paying $300 a month for me for over 4 years now). I have worked my ass off helping people that has helped me to have a healthy 7 figure a year income. So fall by the way side… Ya ok.. Sorry I am already successful and established because I work my ass off to help people.. You might want to read comments on the johncow.com blog before you make an ass of yourself.

Not trying to be conceded but yes you were immediately accusing me of being something I wasn’t and if you think you were not rude in your email… Well then maybe that is not what you consider rude but I think it was ignorant and I can guarantee you are not making a healthy living online with that attitude.

Oh and I live for this kind of stuff, so post as much about me as you want… People like you make me laugh… I will continue instead to focus on my business.

Do me a favor too.. When you are done supposedly revealing the truth about me, send me the link, I will even post a link to it on my blog for you… I have 33000+ readers just on my blog, so I will send loads of traffic to you.

Now you may be asking yourself… What the heck are you wasting your time doing this for?

Well 99% of these kinds of emails get deleted usually but as I said before, I just wanted to and I guess I am in one of those moods.

So, waiting impatiently for a reply, I finally got one… it was kind of lame though…

Nice to see such a fast reply from someone so busy. I feel so honored. Back to passing these around to my followers. Keep ‘em coming. I too teach customer service and you are giving me several posts of how not to handle it. So I guess you are helpful!

Thanks again,
C Cam

I love how she says that she too teaches customer service… sorry I have to stop for a second, I am laughing too hard.

Anyway, I am sure some of you will disagree with this and how I handled it… but I don’t care lol… like I said 99% of complainers don’t get handled like this but she got me on the right day.

Now I also loved how she said she is passing this around to her followers. Help me understand how that is a bad thing… I laugh whenever anyone says they are going to slam me in a forum or somewhere. Give me a break, my paying customers know I work my ass off for them and I could care less about people bitching in forums and to their “followers”… in fact I like it when people like this do that… it makes me smile.

Oh and I am not at the best part yet.

Feeling a little bored I decided to send her my phone number and I encouraged her to call so I could record the conversation… I really wanted too… so she could hear herself. Well… there was kind of sarcasm in it too… but this was the response I got to that…

See, now had you replied to my first email in this manner we would not have an issue. Instead you sent me ZERO text, no “sorry about that”, no “we’re a little short on tech help”, nothing but a link… that did not work. This is the down fall of your customer service. You then followed with nasty remarks (I was more abrupt in my second response, but let’s face it I appeared to be talking to a bot).

Thanks again, I think I have all the quotes I need for a full interview,
C Cam

LMAO… first of all I am impressed you are still reading this post

Chris… did you forget your ignorant initial comment about “never buying from me” cause a download did not work… that was your first and only email to me. This download is for a free product that I have gotten hundreds of thank you’s and testimonials for and people say all the time I should charge for… but oh ya, Chris it is a scam (cause you say so), I am giving you exceptional value for your email.. what a bad scam that is.

OK, so I have not received a link to anything from her yet cause I can’t wait to read it… but anyway…

WHAT THE HECK IS THE LESSON HERE

1. Do not waste your time on people like this… if someone tells you that they are never going to buy from you… why waste energy on them… unless you can get something out of it like a worthwhile post to your worthwhile blog

2. Do not do what I did… unless you can benefit from it. I am not wasting time here cause I am getting my post out of this and I am having fun… I love this kind of stuff for my blog posts.

3. Always try to be nice to the product owner at first. I have created three of my most profitable relationships in my business that have helped me create several million dollars in revenue because of the respect and help I gave a few product owners. I was wanting a service from them… I did not take the attitude I am your customer so I can treat you like shit and you better bend over backwards for me…

NO WAY

… instead I looked at it like, what can I do to help both of us… how can we make this product better so we both benefit.

4. Last but not least… have fun with life. Enjoy it… this is the only one you have and if you can either be a miserable SOB or happy… I prefer to be happy

There you go… one of the weirdest posts I have made on what Chris says is a “Scam websites that will fall by the wayside”… LMAO… thanks for the fun Chris… seriously thank you.

If you want to be doing any affiliate marketing at all in 2010, you really… really… really want to check this out, it is called the Magic Bullet System.

I am 100% serious that I would gladly have paid cash for a look at one of his profitable campaigns and the cool thing is he exposes it 100% and the landing page… which is worth more then any of the freaking ClickBank eBooks you could buy right now.

But… and I am serious here…

I also take pride in always doing a good job. I have never been one to settle for second best and before my online career I always had a desire to achieve something bigger. In my own mind I was always good at it too… I say my own mind because I know that as I got promoted and moved around, I could not please everyone.

I remember when I was 29 and shipped across the border to the US to work as a manager and my welcoming by the employees there was.. well, less then spectacular.

The cool thing however was that the day I left to go full-time with this IM thing, the comments i got from a lot of them was… well 180 degrees from when I walked in the door the first time. In fact one individual that pretty much was one of those people that made everyone nervous gave me a hug when I was walking out the doors. This was a red neck mechanic that… well you would not have expected that from him. Another person said that they were going to really miss me from the morning meetings as I always was able to see the good and lighter side of things and make people smile.

Why am I telling you this?

I have always wanted to get the best out of people and I always want to help people be good at what they are doing and get the best results possible. Over the years I have seen many people succeed through some relationship to me… whether it be tools, training or just friendship. The problem is, even though you know this… well sometimes you just want to hear it… ’cause it is always nice to be appreciated.

Below is an email I received just a few days ago… and all I can say is Thank you Tom!

It is wonderful to hear success stories… not ones about a specific product… but just in general that I was tied in with this person’s six figure net income.

Before you read that though, I want to give quick recognition to a few that were part of helping me get to where I am today…

The late Corey Rudle – Was the first ever IM product I was introduced to… back in 1996. He was certainly a pioneer in this industry and was somehow tied in with a huge majority of the successful big names in this industry.

Mark Hendricks – Back in late 2004 we talked on the phone for over an hour thanks to an email I sent him… he totally changed my view on this whole IM game.

Jason Potash – I was an original “EzineAnnouncer” customer, became one of that product’s success stories and because of that I became good friends with Jason and today I am business partners with him on many projects.

Marc Quarles – I was a successful “DirectoryGenerator” customer and always provided feedback and ideas to Marc, as a result we became good friends and partners in many new projects.

John Reese – TrafficFormula v1 (what else is there to say… it was an amazing info product when it came out)

Jerry West – As good as I am at SEO and affiliate marketing… I am and will always be a student of Jerry.

Marc Lindsay – Was one of his first JV partners with PLRPro (while he was still in the army) and we became very good friends and he has been one person who gave me a lot of encouragement through a shitty time.

Buck Rizvi – Just a freaking good guy, that is good at what he does and has also giving me encouragement through a crappy time that kept me focused.

Dean Caporella – A success story of mine (sort of), a very good friend and someone who always reminds me as to why it’s worth it to take a few extra minutes out of your day to help people (especially customers).

Garry Conn – When I first took over ownership of this blog early 2008, Garry and I ended up having a little competition that.. well really helped me with this whole blogging thing. Garry is a good family man and has a great blog.

OK… that’s all the yukky, mushy crap I can give for 2009.

Here is the email I got from Tom Elliot… and Tom.. THANKS!

Hey Jason and Marc,

I’ve been meaning to write for a while to thank you for the excellent mentoring you gave me during the first Portal Feeder mentoring program. Thanks largely to the foundation you gave me, I’ve increased my gross internet sales from an embarrassingly low annual sales of like $12.36 to a solid $ six-figure annual number. In 2010, I will generate a comfortable $ six-figure net income from internet marketing and see no reason that can’t continue to grow at a solid rate over the next few years.

I’m now employing two full-time staff in the Philippines, a part-time bookkeeper in my office, and soon hope to add a full-time position for one of my daughters. My goal is to provide a solid business opportunity for my children to carry forward in these uncertain times and to be able to give back through charitable giving to causes that are important to my wife and me.

I can’t honestly say this is all the result of your training, but you guys gave me the basic framework and the confidence to pursue the dream. Thanks to your patient mentoring, I’ve added income streams from affiliate products, my own info products, some great physical products sold through affiliate links, and a growing list of 30,000 subscribers in various niches.

All I can say is thanks! Please let me know if I can ever reciprocate your confidence, willingness to share, and good will.

Best regards,
Tom

I am considering doing another closed door mentoring program in 2010… this would be for only 20 people and would be a weekly meeting one on one for an hour a week plus a group call each week plus access to all my products. I will pretty much hold your hand from start to finish and provide support and stuff for you for a full year. I will be sharing more on this next week… so if your are interested stay tuned.

Wait, that’s not right…(well, it is, and you should join, but that’s not the point of this post). No, it’s the other special time of year, and whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, of Festivus, ’tis the time for gift giving.

And in that spirit of goodwill towards men (and other creatures) this post isn’t about how to make money online (although that does tend to make people happy). No, this post is about giving something back while you’re giving gifts.

Below is a list of charitable sites that allow you to make donations in someone else’s name. Now, in case your special someones would still like something under the tree, never fear – most of these sites will accept donations in any amount you want. Even a donation of $10 can help, and it’s a great idea for stocking stuffers. Instead of golf balls, or chocolate, and some useless tchotchke that they are never going to use, you can do some good.

ASPCA Who doesn’t want to help animals?

Right to Play A charity that helps underprivileged children in developing countries learn the benefits of play and team sports.

Amnesty International The charity that works to protect human rights around the world.

March of Dimes A charity that is dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

World Vision International
A charity that helps close to 100 million people in nearly 100 countries around the world, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender. They have multiple giving options, from straight cash donations, to the ability to buy chickens, ducks or a goat to help a family be able to feed themselves.

These are just a very small sample of the charitable organizations that would be very thankful to get some of your holiday money this week. To help on a local level, check out your local United Way, Salvation Army, local soup kitchen, or Humane Society. If someone you are buying for has a special connection to a particular organization, then donating to them in their name is a gesture they would really appreciate. And you’ve killed two birds with one stone – you’ve given a thoughtful gift that the recipient will like, and you’ve helped these great organizations do some good.

And in the interest of total honesty (unrelated to the FTC stuff though) I should also tell you that using charitable donations as stocking stuffers are also a great way to finish off your Christmas shopping that you left until the last minute because you were too busy with a product launch to get it done earlier. Just as an example.

Now do not get me wrong… entrepreneurs are the people that start businesses but what you need to ask yourself is are they necessarily the right ones to run the business?

What he told me was an experience he had some years back when he worked for a company that grew from just a couple of employees to one with dozens of employees and saw revenue grow from $1 million to over $5 million… which sounds great… right?

Well the net profit of the company never changed at all… it was only $50 000 for all those years.

What that means is that the workload, the stress, the resources all increased… BUT THE PROFITS DIDN’T!

In my title of this post i wrote “Pride, Greed & Never Smelling the Roses” and i think that is a huge question to ask yourself, especially if you are an entrepreneur!

I know from my own personal experience, these are certainly areas that I have struggled.

Pride: Wanting to prove yourself to the neigh-sayers… showing that your ambition has paid off

Greed: Wanting to be rich and thinking growth is the only way to get there… plus losing site of lifestyle versus the bank account balance.

Never Smelling the Roses: Never wanting to step back and look at what you have created, taking account on what is already working and how to make it better and not just focusing on the next big project.

What i am getting at here is what do you want… do you want a bank statement or organization chart you can show people… or do you want a lifestyle you can enjoy.

Would not the person in the example above have a much better lifestyle if instead of focusing on growing, he focused on improving?

Do NOT always be looking for the next big thing… do not think that your financial dreams will always be solved by creating one more thing and do not overlook the power of stopping and smelling the roses.

One of the best books I ever read on this is a small book called “Acres of Diamonds”… you can check it out here too http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/rconwellacresofdiamonds.htm

Hope this ramble helps at least one of you

This was an American cult led by Jim Jones and it became internationally notorious when, on November 18, 1978, 909 “members” died in Jonestown, all but two from apparent cyanide poisoning, in an event termed “revolutionary suicide” by Jones and some members on an audio tape of the event and in prior discussions.

To the extent the actions in Jonestown were viewed as a mass suicide, it is the largest such event in modern history and resulted in the largest single loss of American civilian life in a non-natural disaster until the events of September 11, 2001.

This really made me think about how we as humans often NEED someone or something to grab onto.

This is by no means bad… I really believe that it is a perfectly normal human nature to want to believe in something and belong to something bigger then ourselves.

In my legendary (in my mind anyway) way of thinking and explaining things out, I ask that you just please bear with me here and yes this is eventually getting to a big point of running your business.

Were people fools for wanting something “bigger” to have hope in?

Were people fools for wanting to see what this “Jim Jones” was talking about?

ABSOLUTELY NOT… in my opinion anyway.

What i personally think was foolish however was blindly giving up on everything else, without proving it to yourself

When i listened to the interviews with the followers, I had to ask myself…

“Did this really fit into what they knew was right… or were they just blindly following someone else?”

In any of my membership sites, I always make a couple things clear…

1. “Do NOT listen to theory mongers”.

If you are giving them money and they are not willing to show you real life proof that is recent, well then how can you trust them? I always do real life live examples in my training to show people exactly what i am doing, that i am actually doing it and that it works. I know 100% for certain of a couple very popular products that did well on clickbank and were 100% theory and not from actual results the supposed authors claimed. One of them even tried to claim traffic results from the product itself but was actually based off of a former product launch that got a massive spike in traffic from his buddies emailing their list. Do not worry i have never and never will recommend or promote their products!

2. “Make it YOUR plan”.

What i mean by that is use what I teach you as a launching pad… do not just solely rely on what i teach as the end all be all. Figure out what works for you and fit it into your business model… if it all fits, that is GREAT… but if only parts of it fit or even none of it fits… well that’s great too… as long as you are basing it on your own proven results.

Did you catch that last point there… “as long as you are basing it on your own proven results.”

I remember last year, a member of one of my sites arguing with me about a strategy I recommended and how he did not want to implement it because he read an email from someone. First of all the email he referenced was 100% bullcrap (in my opinion) totally just trying to scare the person so they would buy their product. This however was not what bothered me so much as to the reason he gave for making the decision. It was because someone he trusted, recommended he check out a free report… from someone else who he never listened to before or has seen results from before.

So… what this came down to was even though I was openly showing real life proof of what i was recommending the person do and that it really worked… the person still went blindly in a different direction because (without proof) someone told him something that convinced him to give up on everything else and invest in him instead… without any real life proof!

So back to the two questions…

Was he a fool for wanting something “bigger” to have hope in?

Was he a fool for wanting to see what this “Supposed Expert” was talking about?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

But ABSOLUTELY YES for blindly giving up on what he could see with his own eyes was working!

If you can get one single thing from this post… i hope it is this.

BE CAREFUL! If someone is telling you something and is not willing to show you real life proof (that is their own and not someone else’s) but still wants you to risk giving them money… are they really trustworthy?

Do not just follow the pack…

LEARN + IMPLEMENT + TEST –> then if it works, do not just give up on everything else… fit it into your business model and move forward!

The phone rings and i pick it up to hear the sweet little voice of my 9 year old daughter say “hello daddy”.

Immediately my guard is down… her cute, innocent little voice always makes me so happy.

But suddenly her tone changes… she is excited about something. Her cute little voice starts to get a little hyper and suddenly i hear the word…

“KITTENS”

NO.. I say with my tough father authority… we are not getting another pet!

For the next 2 minutes an argument takes place as to why we are not getting another pet. She throws everything she has at me but I simply say NO… cause I can!

Her last ditch effort is to cry… yes the one trick that seems to make me do almost anything for her… she starts to cry. But I am firm on this, I will not budge… I am the responsible adult here!

The conversation ends and I am victorious… or so I thought.

Moments later the front door opens, I hear it is my daughter. Then I hear foot steps coming up the stairs and suddenly i hear a “meow”. Not the meow of a full grown cat, but this extremely light and high pitched noise that sounds like a kitten.

She didn’t, i think to myself… she wouldn’t have!

I immediately get up from my desk and am faced with this tiny little orange ball of fur.

“Jillian”, i say with authority, “I told you no!”

She then continues to tell me that they let her take it home for a few minutes to play with.

Ya right I think, I knew what this was all about… show me this little fur ball and try to get me to fall in love with it. Well no way was i going to let that happen.

Then suddenly my daughter hands over the kitten to me… and something starts to happen… something strange. And what happened then…? Well…in Katzenback-ville they say that the Grouch’s small heart grew three sizes that day!

That darn free trial got me… I had a sample and I could not say no.

The moral of this little story (which is 100% true by the way): If you have a quality product then you should highly consider testing a free or $1 trial… get it into their hands, show them how to use it and let them see the benefits for themselves.

So whats your thoughts of my little story here

One of the changes that I am implementing right away is the elimination of Full Page Ads or “Review Me Posts”.

What this comes down to is I want to focus on writing things that offer value, not advertisements and it is too hard to balance that when some one pays you cash to review their site. The fact is I do not have the time to write everyday as it is and it is not really fair to you the reader if you are not getting what you signed up here for.

Now since this is such a short post, here is a joke to hopefully put a little smile on your face:

A blonde, wanting to earn some money, decided to hire herself out as a handyman-type and started canvassing a wealthy neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any jobs for her to do.

“Well, you can paint my porch. How much will you charge?”

The blonde said, “How about 50 dollars?” The man agreed and told her that the paint and ladders that she might need were in the garage. The man’s wife, inside the house, heard the conversation and said to her husband, “Does she realize that the porch goes all the way around the house?”

The man replied, “She should. She was standing on the porch.”

A short time later, the blonde came to the door to collect her money.

“You’re finished already?” he asked. “Yes,” the blonde answered, “and I had paint left over, so I gave it two coats. “Impressed, the man reached in his pocket for the $50. “And by the way,” the blonde added, “that’s not a Porch, it’s a Ferrari.”

Have a great weekend

With the Beta of my Web2Mayhem, I have been swamped and thankfully that is going well and almost complete. So I will be back in full swing soon.

Now as for this post, it is first of all dedicated to Marie, for giving me the idea for it… so thanks Marie, I owe you a coffee or dinner or something.

What inspired me about this is it was a different angle on this whole internet/home business thing. Now if you’re like me you probably have seen ads in magazines for “Work at home and make money as a medical transcriptionist”. Well honestly I always thought of that as a scam, I thought it was some shady thing that really did not pay well… but boy was I wrong.

I want to share this with you to let you know I am quitting everything to become a fulltime medical transcriptionist. YES I am totally and 100% serious that I am NOT telling you the truth

OK seriously, this post will make sense in a moment… well I hope so… ok maybe not but do me a favor and pretend.

The whole thing here is first of all “THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX”!

I fall victim to this myself, I get stuck in my paradigm of what the steps are for something and I box myself in. I close my mind to things because of an assumption or rumor and miss out on things all the time. The simple fact is some of us are not looking for that million dollar payday (well I was and I want many more of them… bwahahaha) but some of us are only looking for enough to be able to live a different life.

So what this all comes down to is “WHAT IS YOUR REASON?”

Seriously, what is your reason… do you even have a clue?

Are you wanting to be rich, do you just want to earn a few hundred dollars a month to help make ends meet or do you want to be able to simply make enough to work from home so you can live a different life?

Don’t ask me why but the conversation I had with Marie was really a big reminder for me. She clearly knows what her reason is and she has a plan in place to achieve it… and the cool thing is she is almost there, already making decent money with it and things are getting better.

Now the bad news is (well it is not so much bad news as realistic news) it has taken her a couple years of working full time, raising kids and going to school to be able to achieve this but the whole point is, she set a goal, has a plan, knows what she is doing it for, realizes she has to sacrifice things and is almost there… she can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Now I realize some of you are doing this for nothing more than a hobby, you are having fun and like it… but some of you need to make your new venture work. So do yourself a favor and…

Do NOT just do what everyone else is doing… THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX and figure out what YOU want to do.

Know what you are doing this for.

Make a plan and get her done!

Once again Marie thanks for the reminder

Link building is (arguably) the most important part of your site’s SEO. The quality and the quantity of your links is how Google knows if you can be trusted. By building high authority links back to your site – you instantly boost your credibility and the likelihood of ranking higher in the SERPs.

If you’re trying to build links for your site to increase your pagerank, rank higher in Google and other Search Engines then you know that every link counts. Link building is a skill on and off itself, therefore I can’t break down all the elements in a single post.

What I want to do though, is I want to raise your awareness about the three link building techniques that are thought of as “Dead,” but in fact are more “Alive” than you could have imagined.

Social Bookmarking

The majority of internet marketers never indulge themselves into this “foolish” activity. However, the fact of the matter is that it looks foolish only to the untrained eye. Social bookmaking’s entire concept is based around building high authority linkbacks for your website in a very short time.

On the other hand, people fail to realize that, and so they get disappointed and discouraged because their stories didn’t make it to the front page of Technorati, Digg and Delicious. What you need to understand is that making it to the front page is a BONUS of social bookmarking. Instead, what your real agenda should be is the 6-9 PR BACKLINKs you get by submitting your content.

Remember that we aren’t talking about Traffic Generation. If your major focus in social bookmarking is traffic generation, then before you go about submitting your content you should also develop some major skills in Social Media marketing, Headline and Copywriting, Marketing Expertise and Storytelling. Only then you will be able to compete against some of the major players in the league of Social Media.

Article Marketing

If I were to receive a nickel every time I heard “Article Marketing is Dead” I would be a very rich man by now. I would like to remind you once more that we aren’t talking about traffic generation but rather about link building – totally different concept.

Article marketing is an awesometastic (yep, it’s a real word) way of building high PR backlinks for your website. And its effectiveness triples when you’re using some kind of article submission software. Most of the article directories (that are worth submitting to) are pagerank 5-8, which makes them an outstanding way of acquiring link juice.

Google and the search engines are in love with article directories such as EzineArticles, ArticleCity, ArticleBase and ArticleFeeder. You can easily dominate 4-6 positions on the first page of Google if you do your keyword research right. This means that a backlink from an article directory will not only become utterly valuable over time, but will also turn into a major Authority Indicator for Google.

The best way to utilize Article Marketing is to use proper article submission software. Personally, I use ArticleSubmitAuto, which is a free service that submits my articles to the Top 20 article directories. It means that for every article I write, I get twenty quality PR 5-8 backlinks back to my blog.

Forum Marketing

Besides being one of the Top Notch link building ways, forums are a great place to find business associates, form partnerships and get help. For the most part, people are very warm and generous there, which makes it an awesome place to hang out, socialize and improve your skills.

The best way to leverage forums is to build links while being genuine, honest, helpful and outgoing. In order to run a successful link building campaign you’ll have to take care of two simple things:

Create a signature file with an SEO Anchored Text linking back to your website

Be active, generous and helpful

This link building strategy is best suited for beginners. Reason being is that most forums are pagerank 2-4, which makes them useless for veterans with pagerank 5 and higher. If you’re just starting out and your site is yet to rise above PR2 – forums are a great place for you to build links.

Make it a habit to post at least 10-15 replies on Warrior Forum and Digital Point everyday and overtime you’ll notice a substantial increase in traffic and authority of your site.

And One More Thing…

Link building doesn’t produce instant results. Pagerank and Authority is a combination of quality, quantity, relevance and the age of your links as well as your content. Don’t expect instant results, in fact, don’t expect results AT ALL!

You know what they say:

“Shoot For The Moon, But Be Happy When You Land Amongst The Stars”

CLICK HERE to download “The Keyword Minute:” from Brad Callen and then come back here and fill out the below form at the bottom of this post.

As soon as it is verified that you downloaded the report, you will be instantly sent access to my exposed strategy.

Listen, this report from Brad Callen is Good… I have told you that more then once… and for some reason you all are not believing me on this. Whether you are sick of product launches or what ever it is but I cant figure out why 100% of you all are not getting this thing. So, I thought… what else can i do to convince them that this report is worth it?

Well how about me exposing one of the exact “KICK ASS” strategies that i use to rake in loads of traffic and commissions?

Yup… and it seriously took me 22 minutes, has nothing to do with creating a mailing list, having to write loads of articles or anything else.

CLICK HERE to download “The Keyword Minute:” from Brad Callen and then come back here and fill out the below form at the bottom of this post.

Remember, as soon as it is verified that you downloaded the report, you will be instantly sent access to my exposed strategy.

I am going to keep this short and sweet… I am thinking about offering a service where we offer…

Domain Name (We purchase it and after 3 months transfer it 100% to you, to protect ourselves from someone trying to do a chargeback… yes there are people like that)

1 Yr Hosting on one of our preferred hosts (Liquidweb, Bluehost or Hostgator)

Five 400+ word (100% unique) blog posts focused on specific keywords.

One 500+ word affiliate presales article focused on a specific keyword and product.

Wordpress installation with recommended plugins installed and activated

Custom template design with customized header.

One blast to our huge blog network of over 8000+ blogs

Submission to RSS Directories (not just a ping list)

Added into SK network to get one new unique piece of content added every day.

One month free access to Syndicate Kahuna (to promote your blog) and then ONLY $27 a month there after (that’s over 50% off).

All for only $197

Because of the fact that there will be man hours involved, I would ask that anyone that even remotely considers trying this and then refunding stay away.

Here is an example blog…

http://taxdebthelponline.com/

This is 100% only an example. Just because this promotes a CPA offer does not mean your blog has to, you will pick exactly what product you want to promote and the blog is 100% yours to do with as you like and you keep 100% all revenue it creates.

I am only offering 10 of these, because I want to see what the demand is.

If interested in this fantastic deal, please follow the below instructions.

IMPORTANT –> No gambling, pornography or otherwise offensive blogs will be created.

Blogs will take up to 7 days to get completed. I believe much faster but just in case… since there is no infrastructure in place yet.

REMINDERS:

You own the blog, we just control the domain for the first 3 months to protect against people trying to take and refund.

The blogs are 100% your to do with as you wish

I was asked about the ability to have more then one blog made but not having to pay the $27 a month for each blog. The $27 a month will allow you to promote as many blogs and sites as you own so that is only one time thing. If we do offer more then one site to be built, we will offer it with out the SK addition, but we will work out the details on that more.

If above order link is removed, that means it sold out… if you are interested (seriously interested) then enter your name and email below and will will get this bad boy going

It cost a lot of money, and there wasn’t a really good way to measure the results. As someone (there are arguments as to who) in advertising once said, “Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted, but I don’t know which half.” And that’s just how it went.

Your choices were newspapers, magazines, outdoor, radio, television, and direct mail. While attempts were made at targeting through industry-developed demographic profiling, the segments were broad (think men 25-34) and targeting buyers beyond those very simple demographics was very difficult. It worked for the large brands who were targeting large segments of the population, but was too broad and ineffective for the average small-to-medium sized business owner.

Because those smaller businesses didn’t have the big budgets, and the targeting was so broad, a lot of advertising dollars were wasted reaching people who weren’t part of their target audience. This was accepted as simply something that came along with advertising.

Traditional advertising also relies on a one-way conversation. Because of that, it found that it needed to be an intrusive as possible to make sure that it would interrupt whatever you were doing so you would pay attention to it. When there wasn’t that much competition, the interruption wasn’t that bad, but as the number of media outlets and ways to advertise increased, the messages became increasingly intrusive, with flashy messages that were aimed at the lowest common denominator (read: stupid).

As for public relations, or PR, it was a private club that you had to pay big bucks to be a part of. You paid some PR guru a ton of money for the privilege of getting to use his network of contacts that he made over years of schmoozing to try and get your message out. The success of your campaign was judges by how many inches of press that you got, not how much the press release actually affected your sales. Press releases were also written specifically with the media in mind, it used terms and jargon that only media people would understand, and even had to formatted in just the right way. If you wanted to play the game, you had to submit to their way of doing things.

Then something called the internet came along. And advertisers and PR people realized that is was an opportunity to reach potential customers, even if they didn’t quite know what to do with it at the time.

To be continued…
