@Paul,John or Bob is a copy-cat, there is no question about it both MEW(moo ) and Johncow.com are copies of previous sites, he may make them more than just copies like he did with the cow site but they still started out as copies, Its not necessarily a negative thing.

Israel, I do have a problem with that. I just dont understand your whole take on the issue. One day you are against the cow and the next you are all goody goody with him. kinda reminds me of someone that cant keep to their word. BTW your answers are incredibly civil and educated.

It was a joke based on the fact that this is an argument on the Internet.

And come on! I thought for myself and have made my arguments, but you can’t argue against vested interests. You can read my opinions on my blog in plane black and white, and you can read all my points here, none of which I retracted and none of which I apologized for. But just because I don’t agree doesn’t mean I have to adopt some sort of aggressive stance.

I haven’t backed down on anything here.

Israel, why do you still come to this website? - when you are the first one to critize the cow of being a copy cat. Shouldn’t you work towards preventing an increase in traffic rather than adding to his success?

I have to agree with you on that note cashquests. People are always so quick to follow others rather than think for themselves. Also If you make a statement I feel that you should stick to it rather than suck it up when given direct criticism.

Also on the whole pwned vs owned matter, owned is a way better word than pwned. LOL

I have been writing about the whole MDHP/pixel page/wiki thing for a while. The thing that makes it work is the hype which generates traffic. If you get in early enough you can get traffic.

To test out the theory I have purchased a word on MEW and I am going to report on the results.

Thats a fair point.

Sorry for inaccuracies in some of my comments, I was not trying to stitch you up and regret getting myself into this debacle.

Regards the no-follow thing, it was a genuine mistake, there are so many no-follows in the site, even when you set the variable for outbound links, I literally “saw red” (using search status plugin) and in my haste made a mistake.

I mistook red “john chow” links etc. for outbound links on the index pages when they were in fact internal links.

On that note if you edit “includes/SpecialPage.php” you will find two lines containing (noindex,nofollow) as parameters.

Change those to (noindex,follow), and no follows will be removed from the “most popular” page. It should do the same for your index page.

If you apply the same mod to the “noindex” attribute i.e. (index,follow) it takes out “robots noindex” from the header.

That should help the flow of link juice down to your customers pages and avoid any further confusion over the use of the no-follow attribute, particularly on pages where the site name is referenced…

Im not trying to tell you how to suck eggs here… you may already be aware of this tweak…. I just thought it was worth mentioning.
