Brushing Off Blogrush
It’s time to do a little housecleaning and we’re starting with the sidebar. The blogrush widget has got to go. We’re sorry Mr Reese, but the fact that you haven’t been updating your blogrush blog for nearly two months now just gives us the impression that you don’t give a toss anymore. So why should we? We’ve accumilated way more credits than we could ever spend anyway, and since there’s no way to give them away or even sell them, you can keep all ten million of them.

And what’s this talk about a new site called trafficjam.com? We quote:
TrafficJam (which will be located at TrafficJam.com) will take the hottest posts from across the BlogRush network and rank them by category based on our “BUZZ” meter technology. This site will be another way for our users to drive more free traffic to their blogs — we expect many Internet users will start using TrafficJam to keep up with the latest news about the niche they are interested in
That’s been over two months now and there’s absolutely nothing but our IP address (!?) on that site. Got stuck in traffic?
Anyway, you’ve had a good run, and we really believed you were going to pull something out of that magic hat of yours, but it looks like the show is over and the time has come to stand up and walk away. Thanks for having us!

Did you ever get any quality traffic from Blogrush?
For smaller blogs, like mine, it has worked out quite nicely, gaining readership and subscribers.
But with millions of credits? Wow, they definitely have to go.
Blogrush sucked. Plain and simple. It just didn’t make it like it should of and I am glad that I got rid of it a few months ago.
I hardly got any traffic from blogrush..maybe you are right - it got to go!
I gave it the flick ages ago …. i got donuts from it. Truth be known i never looks at anyone elses widget either.
[...] but I feel like this time, I called it long ago and too many people are still not listening, yet John Cow finally wised up and ditched BlugRush. I guess this leaves some ad space, right, John? I think you should give Bla.st a shot now, like I [...]
I have removed my blogrush on my sidebar since november 2007. I couldn’t believe such thing could bring us some traffics. I wasn’t ready to click on any of the link on their widget, why my visitors should they?
You should have ditched it long ago. Good to see you finally give them the boot.
I guess I’m not the only one to remove the widget. I found it useless after a while and removed it without hesitation.
I removed BlogRush a long time ago from most of my blogs right after I signed up with EntreCard. EntreCard is bringing me about 10 times the traffic I got from BlogRush.
It’s almost comical really. Here’s a 2 step plan to sure fire success online:
1.) Ban 10,000 users without warning
2.) Stop all communications shortly afterwards
I’m struggling to come up with any reasons as to how that helps the project? Or does my lack of guru status mean that I couldn’t possibly comprehend the above actions, and see them for the pure genius they no doubt are (regardless of the furure outcome)?
Blogrush is a huge failure…whenever bigshots promote something it becomes a utter waste and a big failure….John Chow and Problogger promoted it as if its their own child…but everything failed…Atleast Reese should respect the status of such high profiles and should have updated the blog regularly,he didnot so he is facing the “Consequences…As Newton says “For Every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction”…Anyways COW did Darin gave u what he promised?
I think I’ve had a grand total of 5 referrals from Blogrush, I think this might be a good time to nuke it after reading your comments JC..
I’m thinking of removing my BlogRush widget too. It’s not really doing anything for me anymore.
I got rid of it last week too. Just didnt quite do it for me, plus those blogrush widgets are an eye sore.
All the blogrush widget was doing for me was taking up space. Along with everyone else, I got rid of it a month or so ago. So much buzz and hype, but so little returns.
Yeah I deleted it a few weeks ago, entrecard is much better
I removed the BlogRush widget for about 3 days from my blog’s footer, but then it got too plain so I put it back. I guess I don’t mind it taking space since it’s advertising other blogs. Free is good
-Mike
I gave up on them a long time ago.
I’m glad I read this post because I totally forgot about blogrush. I received less than 1000 visits and I have over a million credits that seems to never get used. I’m removing blog rush from my website right now. The space is better used for something else such as making my website look less cluttered.
Never tried them out but since everyone is ditching them after the New Year, it seems like the widget is just a space eater.
Ditch the widget, everyone!
When Agloco went BlogRush was always my favourite to go next. Of course I was biased seeing as how I manged to get banned within a few days of starting to use it but it never delivered any decent traffic anyway. Entrecard on the other hand…
I got rid of the widget about a month ago too. Did receive any traffic from it.
Rich
Yep, I did follow the bandwagon on this one when it first came out, but after a few days, I saw just awful traffic levels, junk in the links, and an ugly big widget, I removed it. Permanently. There is little reason to waste time on it. BlogRush wanted the placement to be higher, GEEZ… why should I advertise another company prominently on my website, when I get so little back from them in the way of traffic. The only real people who benefit from this are BlogRush…
“When Agloco went BlogRush was always my favourite to go next.”
Any predictions on who’s going to be next to bite the dust in (traffic-driving) widget world? I’m struggling to think of what else there is… EntreCard, Bla.st, MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog…
The last 2 aren’t going anywhere, and I really know very little about Bla.st (seems to be making some referral money though). EntreCard has the buzz factor for now, but long-term I’m not sure about it.
I didn’t even get Blogrush in the first place!
blogrush is useless I think the entrecard widget is a thousand times better than the blogrush and I see you are like in top tier on etrecard of as internet marketing. Also the reason John reese stop caring about blogrush was that he probably has so many projects going on if I was him I would pay someone to write the blogrush blog.

[...] appears that several of the bigger players are abandoning ship in hopes that they aren’t dragged down with it. The promises made by BlogRush head John Reese [...]
Good for you John! Actually I don’t like people use free advertising to make themselves people with the expense of the other people’s resources or time. Just take a look at Agloco. They all have the same concept and biz models. IMO when it has the matrix or MLM type biz they would never work period.
You should be running a custom ScratchBack.com widget. ZacJohnson.com is using one at $25/tip and he’s cleaning up. http://www.scratchback.com
I’ve always thought that blogrush was a complete waste of time……

I saw many bloggers are removing Blogrush widget they also say the same reason, I think it’s a good move (moooooooooooooooooooooo) Cow
Blogrush sucked as bad as their customer service.
http://www.getrichmagazine.com
I BlogRushed, and all I got was 10 Million Credits!
I was just thinking that your blog’s been pretty lame lately, then you put up a good “controversial” post about dumping blogrush
Blogrush has sucked for me too; a bunch of credits (whatever that means), and 0 traffic.I dumped it last week.
I rode the horse as long as I could… tried to get it to drink, but it wouldn’t. Finally took it out and shot it… it’s name was BlogRush.
I have also signed up for blogrush. But after a while they canceled my membership. I dont know why?

I haven’t try blogrush yet because it looks not that good and the comments from other blogger about blogrush is not that good too. Probably wont be using that.
Blogrush bounced me a while back because they said my 100% original content blog lacked original content. Glad to hear I’m not missing anything.
I can’t believe anyone is still using this. I never bothered with it although I studied it enough to launch BlogCrap
I removed it a while ago to. Maybe November last year. Probably much sooner actually… Although… I say removed. More like banned lmao.
I think I was banned anyway, probably because I gamed it to get thousands of credits and made a post about the method I used to rub in the fact that such a simple tactic could be used to cheat it.
I also was the first online to post about gaming BR
If John Reese kept pushing and developing it I think people would still use it but it’s just like he’s lazy and just leaving it flounder. He doesn’t care so why should other people. Income.com has been ‘coming’ for about a century.
[...] BlogRush, so-called the great traffic booster seems to be dead now. No new update, no news from Mr. Reese. John Reese has not updated his blog at Income.com from some months now as reported by the Cow. [...]
It seems the bigger bloggers like you give these crappy new services way too much time and attention. Maybe it’s because you are trying to be a nice member of the blogger community, which is fine. But seriously, it became obvious pretty early that BlogRush was crap. I ditched them months ago.
Geomarkq, so it’d be ok if we were a smaller blog and blog about it?
[...] the same type of service it is providing now in the future or will we see Entrecard fall just like BlogRush? If you haven’t already noticed, Entrecard and Blogrush both use a credit type system, which [...]
The thing about blogrush is that that it does not send targeted traffic and the widget itself looks out of place on most blogs.
I only keep the BlogRush widget on my site because Shoemoney and JohnChow use it as well.
I was thinking that they must know something that I don’t, however now I feel that BlogRush may be paying them to keep the widget on their site.
Everyone else in my blogging niche jumped on the BlogRush bandwagon while I didn’t. After reading similar posts to yours I’m glad that I didn’t add it to my blog.
