Well it took a little longer then we first anticipated but it is finally done. Announcing…

KeywordCorral BETA

Keyword Corral is designed specifically for sorting, interpreting and taking advantage of the powerful, but often confusing, data that Google’s Traffic Estimator tools provides. For those of you that have followed along with the “How to Build a Business Not Just a Blog” ebook, you will immediately see the advantages that this tool has to offer.

This is the first Beta release of this tool and we will be using this blog post as the testing grounds. If you have any comments, issues or upgrade ideas please post them below :)

If you have any issues with your license registration,
please contact us at…

support [at] johncow [dot] com

IMPORTANT –> If you have any technical difficulties, please be as descriptive as possible and provide…

  • Your operating system version
  • What you did that caused the issue

This will help us quickly squash any issues that might arise.

Once this BETA test is over, we will be adding this tool to the affiliate system and creating a separate KEYWORD TRAINING guide that you can give away and in he guide you will be able to change the link to get the reader to download this tool with your affiliate link.

Check out this tool now and then register for your license above to download your copy.

Sorry Mac users, unless you are using a solution like Parallels on your MAC you can not use this software. It is a Windows based application.

It’s a pity it doesn’t work on Macs, as I don’t have Windows. *sigh*

      • Hi, John.

I don’t have any spam filters in place.

I went to the Google Adwords Keyword Tool, did a search on a set of keywords, downloaded them as a TXT file, opened it with the program, and…

        Nada.

        It’s just dead.

        Hope this works soon.

My next question is: Is there anyway you can specifiy a particular region of the world. For instance,my Googleadwords campaigns just cover Australia. So when I put my Keyword List into this tool it said under Search Volume-”false”-for all keywords. Or have I missed doing something?

Hi Jason- many thanks for this KW tool- I appreciate it and it looks pretty cool.

I imported some KWs from the Google external tool in text file into it, but can’t get the competition numbers to come up.

Do you need to be getting your keywords from a different source..?

thanks guys for the great blog!

    • John Cow says:

you need to make sure you use the Google Traffic Estimator results to input the data. The competition will be blank until you select the rows (keyword) you want to check and then you click “Get Competition”

I will be putting a training manual together for everyone.

    Hi again  :?: :?:

Wondering if there might be comment about a competition number I got from KW Corral..

I get 1,020 as competing number of pages for “best gps unit” in KW Corral but Google says that term has over 40,000.

Is there some other way that these competition numbers are measured…?

Maybe how well the pages are optimized or something to explain this difference I wonder…?

thanks for helping on this one

    • John Cow says:

the software does a competition search using teh google allintitle filter.

      • Pat says:

        Hi Jason

so KW Corral gets the competition numbers using the all in title..

which would you say is a better indicator then of real competition for an affiliate..

the number of pages that have been optimized for the term like Google returns when checking with quotations…or

number of pages with the term in the title…

thanks for your input- I really do appreciate it!

    • Hillbilly says:

I can answer this if you like.

Keyword Elite, while a great program, is not free. This software can essentially do the same thing, as can some other options. The software you are looking at is very good, one of the best I think. But, one can get the same thing without the cost. The software you get here for free is about the same. Google Keywords is really good as well and is also free.

  42. At first I had trouble, but then I went back and re-read the post and the instructions. You have to use the Google Traffic Estimator. It puts all of the data into the right format for the program.

One, “bug”. CSV was originally a format that meant “comma-seperateed-value” format. It looks like the program will only accept a tab seperated file. This is the format that Google outputs and names it .csv, but I do believe it is a misnomer to call it CSV.

When I was playing around I tried to output a Comma-seperate file from Excel and it could not load.

Anyway, great job. It would be nice to have a range for what competition you believe should be targeted. I would think a level of 500 to 2500 would be good. Above that, I would think a very large number of links will be needed. What say you?

CD Rates Blogs last blog post..EmigrantDirect Savings Rate - Updated Aug 2008

  43. Another comment, it would be nice to be able to save the competition data, especially since as you note, Google won’t be happy if they keep seeing a request for info. As it is, it doesn’t seem like you can save any data unless you filter it.

You could always load the file and re-run if you want to refresh it.

I also just noticed that it saves in a comma, seperated format, but when I try to reload it is expecting a tab, seperated format. So that is certainly a boo-boo.

i downloaded the Keyword Corral. i just wanted to let you know about a problem i have had ever since putting it on my computer.

    Hey John Cow,

Thanks for the great free keyword tool.

However, the competition numbers appear to be way off.

You say you use the allintitle tag for the results, so I tested this out on google (.com; .co.uk ; .com.au; and .co.za) and never got the same numbers your tool was spitting out.

For example, using the keyword “cheap hotel” gave me a competition of 4650 000.

In google, searching for allintitle:”cheap hotel”

    gave me 3800 000.

So where exactly is your data coming from then??

Yes I agree cool tool but I’m confused-

cause anytime I see the allintitle used it’s with no quotations around the KW.

Can someone please tell me which one is the more appropriate number..?

    allintitle: advertising website = 170,000

allintitle:”advertising website” =35,000 (this returned by KC)

    thank you thank you!!

    • John Cow says:

allintitle:advertising website is only ensuring that the term “Advertising” is in the title. It is then also looking for the other term at least present on the page. The top results will tend to have both in the title but not mandatory.

allintitle:”advertising website” however will make sure the phrase “advertising website” is in the title and this shows you exactly what competition is exactly targeting that phrase.

The phrase “advertising website” to me is too competitive a term, I generally only target phrases that have decent traffic and have no more than a 10 000 for results in google. 35 000 is pretty high. I will only go for terms like that if I am researching for a high authority site that already has lots of respect and rankings in Google and the traffic had better be good.

Personally I like to only target 3 word phrases, the reason is I can be sure the people using the phrase are looking for something specific.

  59. Peter Werner says:

    Hi,

I’m using KC 1.03 and I like it very much. It’s a really helpful tool.

But when I check competition, Google sometimes gives me no data even if the keywords checked are < 10. Then that nice “<!doctype …” fills out the competition field.

It would be a great thing, if this field could be resetted to zero for a later check. Maybe it’s possible already and I just did not see it, but at the moment I have to add it manually to my saved result file.

Again, thumbs up for this software.

    Peter
