Sometimes it happens –People have a perception of who you are and what you stand for. How often don’t you think what the person on the other side of the phone looks like if they’ve dialed a wrong number and get through to you? Or closer to home — Which one of you doesn’t have an image in their heads of someone that comments on your blog for example?

In reality, things often turn out far from your expectations.

Here’s a great example of an email of someone’s bubble we’ve burst:

    Hi,

I wanted to ask you what inspired you to start blogging? I’d be really grateful
if you would reply with a response.

    Thanks,
    Ruchir

Sheesh, and I thought you were a friendly, intelligent blogger. Ah well, presumptions are usually wrong.

You know what, not replying is better than saying something totally unrelated in a reply…What I meant in my question was “Why did you start blogging?”…Anyways, thanks for your insightful answer…

Now obviously we’ve let down poor Ruchir. It seems we’re not at all what he expected us to be and he feels the need to express his disappointment and frustration in his reply. Its easy to see where he’s coming from. We’re probably no longer his heroes and he’s torn down our posters from his bedroom walls! Sorry Ruchir, next time you ask, we’ll lie to you to keep you happy!
