Mr. Matt Jones’s blog, BloggingFingers.com has been sold for a nice chunk of change — $6,000! That’s not bad at all for a 4 months old blog if you ask us. With a few stats like 200+ RSS subscribers, 50k in Alexa, Technorati 16k and a Google pagerank of 3, Matt seems to have made a killing with the sale. Congratulations Mr Jones! Makes us wonder how much we’d really be worth. Seing as we have 700+ RSS subscribers, Alexa 12k, Technorati 2k and a Google page rank of 3…how much would you guys offer if we were for sale? Garry Conn seems to think we’re worth at least $37,000 and we’re not gonna argue about his authoritative opinion
A rule of thumb seems to be to sell the blog at around 10-12 times its monthly revenue. When you’re shopping for a blog, you obviously have to look for branding, popularity and potential. The blog is not just worth its monthly revenue, it is in fact a very powerful media tool if it has been branded the right way. It will allow the owner to network with the people higher up in the food chain and enjoy the perks of being an internet celeb. You’ll get the heads up on many new projects before the public knows, you’ll receive new products to test and people will gladly go the extra mile for you, even if you don’t ask them to. We love it!
Anyhow, you guys must be curious to last month’s results. We’ll give you the numbers right away, but not like we used to do in the past. Its all just too much to type, and most of you are only interested in how much mooney we’ve made anyway.
Total money earned in October on www.johncow.com: $2,710.55
That’s the collective number of private ad sales, reviews, affiliate sales, adsense and all that good stuff. We didn’t add the $449 prize that Weborithm offered to one of you guys and we didn’t deduct the money that we’ve payed Angel, who’s our new pro reviewer. Kinda like Mr Chow’s Michael Kwan! That’s less than we made in September but still much more than we did before we had this blog
Besides, we’ve a bit lazy in chasing up people to sell more reviews. Not that we really care, we’re still having fun

2009 Planning Guide - My Gift To You!

Great stuff. I bet if you would post more you would make more, but you don’t care anyways so keep up the good work mooman!!
I’m not MOOving on just yet, so don’t go anywhere RSS subscribers!
I wouldn’t be surprised if Garry Conns $37k evaluation comes true. With the right marketing anything can be done.
Nice one Mr Moo, glad to see you making some decent dosh.
Try this website for a valuation of John Cow

According to them the mad moos are worth $149,000
Don’t you love all of those websites that claim to know how much your blog is worth. I remember one month my forum was worth over 20K and then it was worth Zero dollars. LoL Wacky websites.
Grats on the income, those are some very nice figures for such a new blog!
Everyone seems to say that rule of thumb is a blog is worth 10-12 times the monthly income. But what about a business (not a blog). Does the same rule apply, 10-12 times the business’ monthly gross or net revenue?
My two cents is that a WELL monetized blog should go for ‘ballpark’ 10xmonthly revenue.
Hard to say when it comes to highly personalized blogs but the MOO i would pay $25.000 for anyday!
O yeah, that’s a nice $6K in your bank right away….
nice chunk of change
Congrats Mr Cows, hope that you invest that money in good old fine grass !!
Congratulations on the number that you’ve earned. Although it still seems way lesser than what John Chow has earned, it is an earning to be proud of and will make most of us envious.
In my opinion, Bloggging Fingers was sold at a fair price, or a bit over-rated I guess but that definitely created a buzz on the blogosphere. Will you sell JohnCow.com one day? I guess it should go well over $37,000 as estimated by Garry Conn. This is because of the “close-name” to John Chow.com and of course, the pre-established good contents.
For those of us who are looking at eventually selling our money making blogs for a tidy sum, I guess, we’ll probably have a few other blogs slowly build up even before we sell our big money making blogs, else we might suffer from withdrawal syndrome.
When I first read the title, I thought the Cow was sold. I was scared there for a second.
Good for you to earn that much money.. Keep up good works..
I think selling domain not good for long term .. But if you have others blogg and can’t keep up with the domain then sells your blog is one way to get fast money.. ALoha
2.7k is still huge. Hopefully, I will be monetizing as much by next year.
@ Shy Guy
Selling away a blog has more art than domaining itself. A worthy blog database like John Cow’s can make it reach a $30k price whereas if you are just domaining, not many domain can give you the money in return unless you have hundreds or thousands of domains under your portfolio.
Surely in the long run, bloggingfingers.com will earn more.
OT: Feedburner RSS Stats going down.
2.7K….hmm….so nice
Wow, great job on the 2K plus income this month CowBoy!

amazing how you guys turn a copycat domain into a lucrative website.
Fantastic and great earnings cow. Be good to see how you grow in 2008 and see how much the site brings in a month this time next year.
