Second in a series of semi blog interviews, Jim Kukral is a good sport and wrote the following article for you boys and girls. You might have seen him on the Blog World Expo videos, as he managed to interview John Chow and Shoemoney.

Jim Kukral Blogging Story.

I got started blogging in August 2001. A co-worker friend of mine showed me
a web page he called a “blog”. It was his personal journal of his life. He
then showed me that I could make my own at Blogger.com, so I did. I paid for
the Blogger Pro version (now non-existent), so I could use my own design on
my blog.

The blog’s name was “I Hate Lettuce”, and I used it to express my thoughts
about anything on my mind. I still remember blogging on the morning of 911,
which I bring up because to me, being able to write out my thoughts on that
horrible day was amazing. I was able to express my fear, and my anger, and
all of my emotions into written form, for the world to read.

That’s why blogging is so important to me and why I was hooked on it from
day one. The gatekeepers of content delivery and distribution were
obliterated when blogging came alive. No longer did anyone have to get
approval from an editor or a publisher to write. Blogging allowed everyone
to simply log in, write and publish to the world! That’s powerful.

About a year later, I realized that I could start to combine my online
marketing and affiliate marketing knowledge to my blogging efforts. This was
way back when people didn’t believe you should or could make any money from
blogging. I released and ebook I wrote called “BlogstoRiches” and I sold it
online. The ebook showed people how to use your blog to make a few bucks.

After I released the book, I got loads of hate mail from passionate bloggers
about “how blogs are pure” and “you’re a scammer for trying to help people
this way, nobody can make money from blogging”. But I knew they were wrong,
I was, and still am.

Since that time, I’ve focused on writing many different blogs, probably
putting out 3-4k blog entries across multiple blogs on different topics.

Its amusing that people said you can’t make money from blogging.

How many millions of dollars did WeblogsInc sell their blog network to AOL for. I think it was 100 million off the top of my head and that was a few years back.

well done, lucky you were not living in iraq, israel, china, burma or many other countries…

your blogging might have been a lot more limited…

but as it’s not, keep up the good work…
