Dear Person Who Just Stole Our Bike

Posted by John Cow in Ramblings

Want to Learn How to Build a Business Not Just a Blog.. for FREE? CLICK HERE Now to Find Out How!

If you read this post, we’d just like to congratulate you on an excellent choice. The bike you just stole from us wasn’t even a week old and cost us $575. We’d tell you to be careful with the gears as they seemed a bit jumpy, because you just might hurt yourself when the chain blocks. Thanks for having us not having to go back to the bike shop tomorrow to have them checked. We guess you can do that now. Besides, the walk home from the train station was awesome! We hope green suits you, there was no other color lock when we bought it last week, but since you took that as well, you must have liked it!
Glad to see she went to someone with good taste at least. And hey, we finally got to see what our local police station looks like on the inside! Even got a cup of coffee from the nice policeman whom we were chatting to about you.

Sincerely,

JC

P.S. You Suck!

P.P.S. Thank you Darin ,Colleen and Macewan for donating a little bit so we can start saving for a new bike with a better lock :)

Raking In The Pagerank

Posted by John Cow in Make Moooney Online

It seems Google is very late this time around with their pagerank updates. Today is officially the longest time between updates, 122 days. Loads of people are sweating it because believe it or not, buying and selling links is big business! If you’ve got yourself a PR5 for example, you could make anywhere between $25 - $50 per month. PR6 and over will easily fetch you $50-$100 per month! It’s a whole new economy Google introduced with the pagerank principle.

Now we bet you’d love to know how to get a high pagerank for your site so you can start raking in all that cash all those webmasters are throwing around right? The answer to that is really simple; Get links to your site from high pagerank sites. Google will assume you’re important too and reward you with a higher value. What’s not so simple though is to get those links. Unless you’re willing to spends loads of your own cash on buying links.

Don’t worry! We just uncovered a great opportunity which could get you a PR7 link from a 7 years old established site which is listed in DMOZ (important for a lot of people). And since we’re in a generous mood cuz it’s Friday and all, we’ll share the wealth with you guys! All you need to do is make a donation and these guys will put a link back to your site from their PR7 page. Don’t ask how much of a donation because we don’t know. We are not affiliated with these guys in any way and we can’t be held responsible if your link doesn’t show up. It’s still active since there have been 5 new links added on the 28th.

Where’s this site? It’s right here: http://forum.snitz.com/donations.asp (And that’s not a clickable link on purpose so they won’t figure out we let you guys in on this little secret). Make a donation, sent them an email about how cool their stuff is and how you just donated an X amount via paypal address XYZ and that you’d be honored by getting placed on their link section as a thank you! And since you’re donating anyway, they’re not the only ones accepting donations

We Got Fired!

Posted by John Cow in Make Moooney Online, Ramblings

A post on Everybodygoto dot Com inspired this one as Ali hit the nail when he said:”One important thing that I did yesterday was to fire myself on a project that was constantly nagging me, because I started it on a whim and never followed it through. It was time to get rid of it and concentrate on what I am capable of doing and not what I think I can do. I feel so relieved now.”

We took a sip of our cold milk, staring at the article when it came to us. We’ve been starting up several projects lately but just can’t find the time or resources to commit to them. They’re laying on the shelves gathering dust. Normally you’d think that whatever you’ve got laying around, planned for the future can do no harm but when we thought about it, these unfinished projects were taking up some of our time every day!

-Now here’s a great idea to use for project A! Let’s see if this will work better on project B. Hmmm, how about if we do it like this? Nah, it’s not gonna work, back to the drawing board. Ooooh look at all the time we just wasted. Again.-

Seriously, we needed to take a step back and cut off atleast 50% dead weight which was draining the attention from the projects we do know what to do with! Much like deciding to quit updating our other blog. We took out a notepad and jotted down all our domains. Each domain/project would get a rating between 0 and 5. Anything below 3 is going in the dumpster! Might fetch a penny or two by someone who thinks the project is worth seeing through. Pennies you can put in the projects you’re dedicated to, hence improving them!

We needed to set criteria for ourselves:

  • Can we finish this project by ourselves? Do we need to pay anyone to code/design/develop something for us?
  • Will it still be in demand by the estimated time of completion?
  • Has someone else made something similar in the meantime and do you think your product can compete?
  • Have you still got the passion you had when you started working on it?

You’ll get 1 point to start with for your efforts, if then you can’t get to atleast a total of 3 points after you’ve asked yourself these questions, it’s probably not worth your time anymore. Don’t let it linger, sell it while you still can and you’ll really feel a weight dropping off your shoulders. You’re freeing up your schedule, adding to your finances and you’re clearing your head! No more frustrations when you feel like you’re running into a brick wall again. There’s simpely no more brick wall to run into!

Go ahead, do yourself a favor and write that memo!

How do : Make Money Online 101

Posted by John Cow in Guest Bloggers, Make Moooney Online, The Net

A post by Becky @ PreBlogging.com. I take the more simple approach to blogging topics, i.e. a no nonsense approach to things. This is my 2nd guest post here, please check out the other one on stumbleupon too ! This post is more of a vague post, but it is meant to be inspirational ;)

Top Tip for Money Making

Now this may seem cheeky, but the easiest way to make money is to be smart. It’s the old adage work smarter not harder. This can be done by either seeing an opportunity and taking it, or by creating the opportunity yourself. It doesn’t sound easy, and it’s not really supposed to be (otherwise everyone would be doing it). To gain the readers and to gain the RSS subscribers you need to bring something different to the blogosphere. You need to lead the way, be the best in your field and let other people follow you. By hanging on every word of your peers you will only ever be using their ideas, rather than generating your own. While it is important to see what the successful people are doing, it’s also important to do things that they are not. Read here for JohnCow’s own take on the so called A-Listers.

Bubble Bursting

This point comes with an image to reinforce the point.

bubble.jpg

People don’t become internet moguls or millionaires over night, it takes a lot of work and a bit of luck. These people are the people who are not afraid to try something new. So ask yourself are you following along what other bloggers are doing in your particular niche, or are you doing something different ? If you are the first with the idea and you present it well you will get followers. If you are helpful and show leadership in your field, you will get followers. If you are consistent in bringing new & accurate commentary on your niche, you will gain followers. It’s all happening outside the box, try and have a different take on things.

The Good News for you

There is literally hundreds of millions of dollars lying out there waiting for you to stake your claim on it. You just need to be that person who is smart enough to find a way into other peoples pockets. If you have an idea go with it and try it with 100% of your heart. If it fails then you just try something new, but learn from that mistake.

Remember inspiration about an idea can hit at any time, I always either have my laptop or a good old fashioned pen and paper ready to write down ideas. Be thinking about what you are posting in your blog, and have an idea where you want to take the blog.

One great idea of a blog thinking outside the box is ContestBlogger dot COM. Here we have an example of someone who saw a need to collect all the contests happening at the moment and to repost them on his blog. True it’s a blog about blog contests, but it’s also something that people want to read about, and hence he has over 200 RSS subscribers.
