Advertising Rates Reduced

Hi kids, just a quick update today regarding our new advertising rates. Since the advertising market is in an everflux (supply and demand change from time to time etc), we have decided to reduce our blogs advertising rates for a period of time. Once a month we will be having a look around other blogs to see what the going rate is. It was Shoemoney who said somewhere that he doesn’t have a standard rate for advertising on Shoemoney.com, but that it would depend on the demand, season etc. Makes sense if you think about it eh? So perhaps this is the time for you to jump in, as we can’t predict next month’s rates.

Anyway, you can have a look at the new advertising page we’ve put up to check out the rates and see if you’d be in for a banner or text link on JohnCow.com. (Before anyone asks, that page was setup with the OIOPublisher plugin for wordpress).

In other news: As some of you might have noticed, we have reduced the size of the homepage too. With only the first post showing up completely, the other 4 posts are now excerpted (is that a word?) to 100 words. Why we did this? Another one of those D’oh! moments – it significantly reduces the outgoing links from the homepage, hopefully resulting in a better pagerank next time. Even though we’ve got somewhere around 50,000 backlinks, Google still doesn’t think we’re worth more than a pagerank 3 :( Ah well, guess it is nice of them to have us show up in #1 when you google for John Chow

If you want a plugin to do this for you, Daily Blog Tips has just what you need.

Awesome John, I think I’ll use that plugin… seems like a great idea

I like the idea of liquid advertising rates, is there any set time as to when you are going to be updating the prices?

Awesome plugin. Thanks for the tip. By the way, is the link that you purchase (well, I would purchase) go into the “Pasturized Sites” ? I wonder if it’s actually worth the money and how much traffic I would get from it. Do you have some numbers you could shoot over?

    It’s a small start, but it’s something. :-)

Lol@Jorge, the reviews seem to sell well, it would be silly to drop those prices. The banners did get significant reductions, as much as $75 per spot!
