Things have gone a bit mad with the new theme, we oversold our adspots and because of some miscommunication we had to turn down a few people unfortunately. We simply ran out of adspace! So then we had a good think about it and think we’ve come up with the solution for those of you that just missed the cut-off or who didn’t have $125.00 for this months advertisement budget. Don’t worry, we’re not going to put more ads in place, we’re just going to replace one of the old ones.
Here’s the plan. We’re going to sell the 300×250 Google adsense spot you see in the top post and each single post –to 10 of you! We’ll rotate the spots on every refresh and with our current traffic of an average of ~400,000 pageviews, each ad will get ~40,000 impressions a month. We’re asking less than $2.00 eCPM which means you can have the huge 300×250 spot for the entire month at just $75.00! We’ve been told that the industry standard is anywhere between $3.00 and $5.00 so this really is a bargain. The spot you see in this post could be yours!
The only restrictions we have are the following:
- Nothing too flashy. We don’t want to get a headache reading your ad.
- No indecent or unsuitable images/text.
That’s it really, instead of the Google ads, you can now get featured in each single/top post. The sooner you grab a spot, the better. If you’re the only one that has bought an adspot, you will get the full 400,000 impressions for just $75.00 which would come down to $0.20 eCPM since you’re not sharing with anyone
Oh, and one of the text link ads spots is available at the moment. Just $20 per month!
(P.S. Our good friends over a Gadgettastic.com are giving away a free adspot for three months worth $1,800 to one lucky winner!)

Hmmm, that’s a very nice idea. Nice thinking Cow! If I had the budget, I would surely purchase that spot.
Awesome! The cow always thinking of us :).
Any chance I could get a locked out in the rain discount? lol
@DotDriven: It’s not raining anymore!
Hey Mr Moo,
Great idea with the advertising, and thanks for mentioning our competition
Oh wow! Hey Cow I really like the new site. I think it actually looks more impressive than the site of the other guy…two hoof knuckles up
If I wasn’t planning on getting a Nikon D40x, I would have purchased it right now. Oh well, hope someone else is lucky enough to grab this offer.
Sounds like a great deal..too bad we live on a cowboy’s wages
Darn, still don’t have that cash rolling in to spend on advertising right now. I’m bringing in over $100/mon. but can’t justify 3/4 of it on one ad right now. Oh well I’m sure those 10 will be sold soon.
Thats phenomenal, Im amazed that this blog has come out of the chow’s shadow.
I want a spot. Email sent.
good luck selling those spots, I am sure they will be gone fast.
@KingJacob
That was the point of the theme, to come out and be distinct. Even though the blog has an inspired domain name. I think it did the job pretty well
Is that 400,000 impressions just for JohnCow.com or the total for every site on the server? When I was displaying Adsense full-time on JohnCow.com, it only showed a few thousand impressions per day and John Chow himself only gets 350,000 impressions per month. I’m interested in buying so could you please confirm that JohnCow.com alone receives 400,000 impressions per month?
Free Porn on Us? Seriously guys?
Kumiko, you can see the two previous end of month posts. All the numbers are there for everyone to see.
WTF you have a banner for freepron ?! I wonder how Google AdSense TOS stands for publisher sites that link to adult sites…
Hmm, that’s a good question actually. Never thought off it. Might have to check with them…
Great opportunity. How do I go about getting one of those spots.
Hm.. I don’t have budget…
maybe next months I try to saving to join you..
Either way that Macewan guy must be making a killing if he’s spending what? 250/month on just one blog advertising.
The cow claims to get more page views than the Chow. However, his numbers are taken from AWStats and not Google Analytics.
@ Chow
Ooooo that is

As great as this blog has become, i struggle to see it getting more page views then chow does at this stage
I’d definitely remove the porn ad. AdSense isn’t nice about stuff like that.
is chow starting some beef with the cow? where I am from, those are fighting word.
So what are the pageviews for this site via Google Analytics then?
Your guess is as good as ours. We don’t use them anymore.
A. Google already has enough information about us.
B. Like with Adsense, we don’t trust the results.
C. We think the server’s internal stats logs will be more accurate than an outside third party application.
D. It seems to have sped things up.
i think , i Agree with JOHN CHOW
.
can’t say Much though as i am a web-designer.
starting to create a Blog soon.
Peace out!!!
So are the advertisers not getting the quoted 400,000 impressions? As popular as the cow is, I have a hard time seeing it getting more impressions than Chow.
Also, it was quoted that those advertisers that got in early would get more benefit as they would share less impressions. But it looks like rather than splitting up the supposed 400k impressions between just the early advertisers, the “ads by john cow” ad was also added in so it would seem that the full amount of impressions weren’t given to the early advertisers.
Any way to confirm the actual amount of impressions that are given?
Dotdriven: There’s 4 paid ads at the moment. They all have 2 spots out of the 10. One spot is to actually advertise the spot and another is for a business partner. Each paid spot at this moment has gets 20% impressions.
Pageviews up to this point in the month: 361733 (8.27 Pages/Visit)
Thanks for the clarification Bob. Just wanted to make sure
Hey Mr Moo, check your email when you get a chance.
