60 Free Ads

So the end of the year is in sight and we’re going to need a little nudge to achieve one of our personal goals. After having skyrocketed to fame, our hunger is still there and we’d like to start 2008 with four figures of RSS subscribers. Currently we’re still about 300 short and we need your help boys and girls. Obviously in today’s rotten capitalist society, nobody does anything for free anymore, and we’re willing to bet our udders that you bunch of money making blog reading sharks aren’t any different – even though this is the season of giving. But who cares, at least none of us are too shy to admit it right?

To keep things on-topic, we’ll be giving away free RSS feed ads every week till the end of this year. With a maximum of ten ads per post – per week, that’s about 60 lucky winners amongst yourselves! If we draw your blog, you’ll just have to give us the 180 chars tagline, anchortext and link URL you’d like to use, and we’ll be publishing you for free, the whole week long.

All we need from you is to leave a comment in this post if you’ve subscribed to our feed. We’ll randomly pick 10 bloggers at the end of the day and email them for a screenshot as proof. Once that’s confirmed, you’ll be published. To make our lives easier (why would you want to do that!), you could of course leave a comment with a link to the screenshot to save the hassle of us emailing you.

Everyone is welcome to participate in this little project, but if your name is Scot Smith, you’ll most likely get auto-disqualified

And late happy thanks giving to all you US based fans, we’re glad you had turkey yesterday instead of beef!

(PS it seems our emails sometimes get stuck in people’s spamboxes, so here’s a friendly reminder for those of you that purchased the text link ads with us. If your name is on the screenshot below, please email us. Thank you!)

  1. This is the second blog contest I’ve won, so I’m really excited. I guess I’m a good bit luckier online than off. Anyway, Mr. Cow was feeling very generous so, in the spirit of giving, he decided togive away 60 free ads.

  2. A couple of days ago, the popular, evil, money making cow – John Cow, started a little contest in his blog, giving away60 free 1 week advertisementsin his RSS feed (he gave a

  6. chances of winning this random draw could possibly be slightly influenced if someone would leave a recommendation for us perhaps [IMG  ] In other ‘exciting’ bovine news; we’ve replaced the ten links of previous random winners of ourfree RSS advertisingcampaign (more free crap and we’ll be filing for bankruptcy soon [IMG :???: ] ) So to all that have been added to the RSS post footer as sponsors, congratulations! We hope that all of you will have a great new year ahead of you, and that we may all

  24. Steven says:

Count me in. Although I want you to advertise a different site than my personal blog if I win =]

  25. I’m just curious why you would be trying to raise your RSS like this. If a lot of people join just for the chance to win, then it seems like they are joining for the wrong reason. I want my RSS to go up because people want to read my blog and not because they just join for a while to win a contest.

The only two reasons I can think of to raise the RSS in this manner (which I admit many sites do the same thing) is because you want to sell your blog in the future and/or the RSS makes a site look popular. But if the RSS is artificially raised like this then the site is being made to look more popular than it really is.

    Am I way off base?

  26. Well CashQuests pursued a similar line! It might be possible he wants to sell…

  27. bloggernoob says:

    you’re not selling are you?

  28. John Cow says:

DayJobNuker: Is there such a thing as having real people signing up to your RSS for the wrong reason? The odds of them reading us after they signed up will increase significantly. Even though they might have subscribed just to get a free ad.
